Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Thank you, I will keep thinking positive and hope for the best. I know renting one isnt hard....it's using one that I'm having trouble reconciling. I just want the best trip ever with my boys. It's their 21st birthday just a month before our trip and we have so many wonderful plans.

If you want the best trip ever, go rent an ECV! I will use one on our upcoming trip, too. Last year, when I was at DL, I sprained my ankle on the first day (slipped on a curb at DCA). I was in pain for the whole 4 days I was there and I had so much trouble walking - just the short walk from the hotel across the street to the park in the morning was agony. Of course I didn't even think about renting a wheelchair or an ECV. It was my first trip to DL since '98 and I hated every single minute of it (well, maybe not every minute of it but most of the time I just did not enjoy myself at all). I think I was in the Tiki room like half a dozen times each day so I could just sit down. I sought out the rides with the shortest wait time so I could ride and *sit down* (single rider on Indy is awesome in that regard!). Oh, and if you ask nicely, they also let you stay on the river boat for another round (yes, I did that, too). My day was ruled not by how I could really enjoy the parks (man, I had so many plans!) but by what's the next best way to sit down and get off my feet. I was really really miserable. Said sparined ankle has since triggered an underlying issue which required surgery and a lot of metal in my ankle. I am fine walking most of the time but I told myself I will NOT make that mistake again. I want to enjoy myself, the park and my time with my kids so I am getting an ECV. Trust me, whatever troubles you will have using it, it'll be much worse being miserable and in pain on a hot day at WDW.

Well said, thank you. You are right and I will remember this when I'm at WDW. If I am in too much pain to enjoy myself then I'll try out the ECV.

So nice to put a face with a name. Such a great looking couple!! Can not wait to hear all about your trip!!

Aw, thanks! My favorite part in the packing process is when, after a week or more of asking him if he needs me to wash any summer stuff, he hands me a pile of clothes this morning and asks..."are you going to be doing any wash today?"

I can't wait to tell you all about the trip! Of course, then I'll be envious of those who are still looking forward to their trip!

WHAT DO YOU MEAN RoL HAS BEEN POSTPONED ?!?!?!?!?! Says the monkeys to the engineers...

Sorry ... saw this news report and the first thing that popped into my head was RoL. So I come to the support group.

There are all kinds of last minute surprises out there with cancellations if you keep your eyes open! I love going to Dine with an Imagineer but I didn't jump on it in time this trip. I woke up early this morning, couldn't sleep. Checked online and found an opening had just occurred so I'm signed up on the day I had some availability! Yay! 6 more days! Haven't started packing even though my suitcase is full.....How'd that happen!?

Poor thing wanted to escape a life of eternal captivity... Gotta feel sorry for him! On the other hand, that photo is so unusual I actually thought it was photo-shopped by the super creative HopperFan! Scarier still, there are days where I feel like that (although I hope I don't look like that!)... Going to Disney early June, and no idea whether ROL will be up and running, or the new Frozen ride in Epcot... So hard to plan around the unknowns! :scared:

I absolutely love that he is "in" for wearing the tee's! I can't even get DH to wear a Disney shirt. :( Hopefully he catches the Disney bug this trip & it's happily ever after from there!!

Hear you. DH has finally allowed that Disney shirts are okay (in WDW only) but wont do matching :). I started with a wicking solid color mickey golf shirt and it grew from there LOL.

Us too. 5:45 am flight. :crazy2: What was I thinking?!

My flight is at 5:45am too x_x we have the Ferrytale wishes dessert cruise booked for our first night so hopefully we don't pass out and fall overboard :rotfl2:We'll probably be fine that day since we'll by hyped to be there but day 2 might not end so well (although we have the star wars fireworks dessert party that night so I guess crashing cannot commence until day 3...), and yes we really like dessert haha

7 DAYS!!! party:

I enjoy Tim Tracker a lot for quirky, SeeYaReelSoon (but you must be ok with sappiness), and lately added Disney at Heart, Tom and Sophie, and Ellie Steadman to the rotation - the last couple are UK based which is kind of interesting, and they take long trips so there are more videos!

I'm about to go check out your suggestions :)

SeeYaReelSoon is my favorite! they set my relationship goals for the future <3

My dh just gave up and wears them everywhere now. It took years of me giving him dirty looks to get him to join in on the fun. This trip he's even going to wear a Mickey tie dye shirt my ds made. Yup we're all going to be matchy matchy one day

Hi loungers- can someone please remind me, I know this has been discussed before but I can't remember-

I know that people with adr's at tusker house will need to re-book as a dining package (once it's available), but what if TH is all booked up? For example, what if the tables are all already filled with conventional ADRs? What is the speculation on how they will handle introducing the ROl package?

Thanks!!

I'm wondering if they're holding back some or with the park currently listed as closing at 5 from August on they'll wind up being after 5 when park hours get extended

Ooooh good point!

So anxious for this info to come out!

I will be staying off site, so imagine I have no shot of getting FP, even if it's offered.

I assume they are holding reservations back. I have seen chunks open up after the 180 day mark (BOG and Via Napoli to name two) so I assume this is a fairly common thing.

I'd hope so. Even still, I guess it wouldn't hurt to get the dining package, but, that'd be a hassle and a half to call and switch it. No thanks. >_<
