Yep that's the major speculation right now that the wording it just from this year and the page hasn't been updated yet. Some sites like WDWNT are jumping to the conclusion that this means an opening date is set for May 2017.

I could totally see no Dining Package until much later ............ IF the show is good, those theaters will be packed. Why hassle with a package? Only Tiffins needs a boost and if the show is running I think they'll see more traffic. AND we have Skipper's Canteen as a good example of Disney not worrying about new restaurants having diners. This truly could go either way.

I don't recall it showing Flame Tree in the spring ... I thought .... I don't have time to go back .......... that Flame Tree only showed up on the HUB. If my memory is correct, then this is new copy.

I feel like there is conversation here and on twitter talking as if it's one issue but I see two issues - the DINING PACKAGE and ROL are two completely different issues.

They very well can open ROL and not offer a Dining Package until later. They don't need the package to fill that theater for multiple shows per night - IF IT'S GOOD and not like Jungle Book.

They could open both at the same time, whenever they want. And this very well could go to what is best for the finances, fiscal year, slower quarters, losses, you name it.

They could go for full operation well before Avatarland for a smooth introduction of crowds OR they could open them together so that if there are 3 shows, there will be more to do for the 2/3rds not in the theater.

If nothing else this has been one big messed up ..........................

Come to thin k of it - it all makes sense now. They must be getting ready to set up booking really soon. Here's my experience this week - I apologize if this runs long but only you guys will understand.

I have a trip and of the month (my Mother's Day gift) which is all done planning and everything. What originally started as only one park day for MNSSHP turned into 2 park days plus the party - our closest friends decided to join us, hence why the adjustment. We even extended it thru Nov 1st so we can hit the DVC Halloween party. All the ADRs and FP have been done at 60 days out. Everything was perfect, I got all that we wanted at the right times: FEA, SOARIN, 7D, and even the FP for the day of the party from 4-7pm. I was so happy
Then The bottom dropped out the other night (Tuesday to be exact). I signed in and ALL of the FP I worked so hard to get were GONE!!!! I nearly had a heart attack. I checked on the app, PC, ipad - nothing. They had vanished into thin air!!! The next morning as soon as I woke up I signed in and they were still gone. It wasn't until noon yesterday that all of my plans were back to normal.
My guess is that Disney was updating the FP system to now include ROL. Haven't seen it yet though. But since the ROL package showed up today, even for a brief time, it all points to them getting ready to ROL it out.

Thanks for being patient.

So now back to and hanging in the lounge

It reads like they solely came to this conclusion based on Dining Package info. You don't need the package to open show. Delaying package may be more tied to all the complaints recently of things opened inside the 180 (my opinion so what who cares) and maybe added crowd control if Avatarland opens.

That said it would not shock me if the show is delayed for no other reason than fiscal reporting.
