I NEED ALL THE SOCKS!!!!

Acquisition was successful today. (haunted tiki mug) I need to get some sleep since I was up packing and not sleeping last night. Basic bullet points for info as of today, *insert standard caveat that protocol could change due to guest jerkiness I mean guest feedback yadda yadda*
- Line was about 40ish deep at about 1:30 and 70ish deep by 2pm, per hopper fan.
- Staff monitored the line and count in typical unobtrusive fashion and were the laid back TS staff we all love.
- Paper wristband was given at 3pm. 1 per person, and thus 1 mug per person. Name was added to list. Pagers distributed in the order of the line.
- Very fair and extremely well run distribution for queue.
- At 4pm pagers went off in order, and many folks simply purchased the mug and went on to other things, which….. LEFT TRADER SAMS HALF EMPTY for a good 45min. It was unreal… I said it wasn't empty… It was all the ghosts of tiki mugs taking up otherworldly residence.
- Some folks tried to just go into TS without pager, purchase mug without wristband. Staff was very polite and informed them of the current procedure for acquisition.
- Side Note: People in line were awesome, and I had the best time with my line-mates.

All in all extremely well done distribution, and I made sure to congratulate the staff on jobs well done. Now off to dreamland before waking up early for our April ADRs. hugs!

Thank you SO MUCH for this detailed review! By 3 when they started handing out wristbands, how many people would you estimate were in line? Did everyone there get a wristband, I guess I'm wondering? And if so, were folks still arriving after 3 and obtaining wristbands?

All good questions. By 3pm the line had already wrapped from the exterior door nearest the Trader Sams entrance, and hugged along the wall then wrapped around the patio back to the exterior door.

There were still bands available at 4pm and were gone by about 4:10pm. I don't know if my experience will be mirrored on other days.

Thank you - again. Sounds like you hung around for a bit after getting your mug - any idea how long it took for them to get through the day's distribution? Would you say the majority of folks left after picking up the mug?

Appreciate all the feedback, and realize it may not work in the same manner on the day I'm trying to squeeze this in! But just trying to figure out if it's even feasible! Hoping to leave my family relaxing at CR on our arrival day to pick one up before heading to MNSSHP....it will need to be a well-executed dance to pull it off, but is my only chance! :)

Sitting in the Detroit airport on my way to Orlando for my second trip of the year. And I still can't believe we only have rumors still when we were supposed to have this show in April!

Boggles the mind. But I still get disney for my birthday this year (Monday) so that's pretty great.

On Tuesday, they allowed folks who had wristbands to come back anytime that day to pick up their mug. So it's possible that they technically didn't complete distribution of the actual mugs till closing. I hope they continue with this protocol, so folks can bop around the parks and enjoy a nightcap with highballs and hijinks.

For myself, I preferred to make sure I had it in hand, plus I really wanted a sushi roll, mega-plus there was little to no wait for a drink and sushi…. anytime that happens in Disney I celebrate!

Ooooh, that's an interesting twist!!! That may actually help me! They are open till midnight, correct? Appreciate all the info!!!

On the struggle bus trying to figure out my Halloween trip. My goal was to get DS1 out of town so he wouldn't be here when Trick or Treat was happening. Halloween HUGE HUGE at our house, 10 years of building large walk through Haunted House. As my two helpers hit college I had to scale back. But still very important to DS1. Long story short last year a disaster with Trick or Treat so time to shift gears. AKA get him out of town on actual Halloween and plan our own party here week before so he thinks it was Halloween, then clean up decor and go out of town. So I was going to St. Augustine. Now that last week trip to WDW was cancelled I am going to St. Augustine earlier, drive over to Disney Sunday am, check in, park?, MNSSHP, Monday park?, Tues am maybe a park or just DS or outlet store before heading home.

Since I couldn't get Sci Fi for him I have ruled out DHS altogether since it will stress him to be there and really not enough time for all parks this short a trip, he is mostly worried about Frozen ride so we can go to Epcot, more MK and was thinking maybe AK Halloween night in hopes of getting lucky with ROL ....................... yes I am laughing at the thought. WELL I was poking for a dinner Halloween night ...................... snagged ADR at California Grill for 9 with Hallowishes at 10:15. Every time he sees the Contemporary he points to top and asks about dinner - he is fairly non-verbal. SO TORN. The unknown of ROL soft open vs CG during Hallowishes [I know first world problems but most things here are].

AND OF COURSE my heart wants to get in line at Trader Sam's for a HM mug .....

To me, that's a no brainier. The pixie dust gods opened the clouds, smiled on you, and beamed a CG ressie your way. Hallowishes from the observation decks just can't be beat and it obviously seems like a great treat for your son! I'm not sure what else AK might be planning for Halloween but would the calamity of people scurrying around for a ROL preview stress your son? It might stress me, as much as I want to see it LOL. I have given up hope on ROL and will just see it after it's announced, confirmed, and delivered. Now about those mugs... :teeth:

Yes stress/anxiety/panic attacks (physical) all triggered by humans and certain pitches of human voices. On top of multiple disabilities he has hyperacussis, aka brain hears certain noises and sends pain signals to the body. Life changer for sure.

I guess this months and months of waiting for ROL and the teasing posts of zero-announcement-catch-it-if-you-can-soft-openings-end-of-month ... had me second guessing.

You are 100% right. I am always the first to say Hallowishes and Holidaywishes are AWESOME from CG. I've never taken him alone, he is terrified of heights .... might have to just give him some medicine and hope his desire to go for .... 4 years .... will help him relax. Thank you for the nudge. Now my days are set.

PIXIE DUST pixiedust:

Go for Hallowishes and CG @HopperFan. The view from up there is amazing. And if you think being on the deck will stress him out too much, ask for a window seat and watch from inside. Pixie dust totally granted. Besides, the latest RUMOR of lights I heard was mid-November. True? Who knows. But I do know you'll have an amazing experience at CG. And maybe wrangle up a tiki mug in the process :)

Yes, we've been a few times but he hasn't been able to stay out too on deck long before getting itchy. I'll take extra medication to help. DS2 took me for HolidayWishes last year for my Christmas present. Party ones are so cool!! Now I'm getting excited.
