Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I'm not sure what I would do if I saw a gator lying there. Where I am from we don't have gators. What are the odds of a gator actually killing someone? Do they attack often or just keep to themselves?

I'm from BC, Canada. We have the issue of Cougars coming into our communities and even right into the city. In Victoria recently there were a couple lazing in a yard in an area right by our Capitol buildings. Right In Downtown. Now THAT is a wild animal you do not want to run into when taking out your garbage!
From my experience, they leave you alone unless you mess with them or they feel like you've threatened their young. Or if they associate humans with food. -.- But we remain a respectful distance away or leave the area. I wouldn't let my child be near water with a visible aligator in it. They probably look closer to prey size...

My uncle actually got a summer job there several summers in a row! He loved it!
Ah, so awesome! Some day :)

You'll receive your congratulatory call from Maggie any moment!

Oh, exciting!!! When she calls, I'll be sure to ask her what time the Fatasmic Rivers show starts at the Magic Kingdom.

I definitely won't mess with them! Unlike our cougars that we have, alligators don't usually sit high up waiting to pounce....I hope...

I know on the Beach and Yacht club thread, several folks have posted photos of the resident gators in the water channels... and I personally have seen snakes hiding in the rocks by the boat launches...

I know that there are snakes and bears, coyotes, wolves and big horned owls, bob cats, and many "preying" animals, here in Minnesota, just like anywhere else, especially in wooded forested areas, (we NEVER NEVER NEVER let our little dogs outside at night without being right there with them!), ....we're more afraid of the ticks carrying Lyme disease up here!

My motto is "stay on the paths...don't go where you shouldn't"...be aware of your surroundings...!

I guess as they say, Disney is all in the details! I'm in suburbia, so we have our assortment of critters such as raccoons and skunks - coyotes too! There's also packs of roaming wild turkeys in my town - they're kinda infamous as they can be quite territorial and aggressive! We're also near some marshland, so foxes and fishercats too - you don't want to mess with fishercats! But definitely no alligators!

The pic is from wdwmagic, that's one side so 2500 seats...

not permanently, just when the gator is large enough and is out sunning. Here's avideo someone took a couple of years ago, of course, some idiots actually feed the animals, ugh

I'm still processing this information! Yikes! Yes, I'm with you on the feeding!

At Disney? Extremely slim. Can you imagine the headlines?

Swear I read something about a mythical gator living near Splash Mountain!
I saw his photo from someone on the ride not long ago

We've got that on page 185 I believe.

And I did a comparison post too.

Not that I'm knocking you for posting that. info does get buried very quickly

Well I did say I had 25 pages to go through! Plus I liked his intro:teeth:. Also I didn't see the prices in the previous post like Kenny had $99 & $49- but there are 215 pages in this thread so I may have missed it.

Just made my daily call to Disney Dining and asked about buying tickets to the Preview Package on April 15th.
The CM checked her recent advisory and said no new information has been released. I asked if it would be best to check back for availability on the website or to call. She said if it was her she would do both every day. Disney updates things at anytime.

So, nothing new to share but it was nice to get a CM that immediately knew what I was talking about!

this is a giant leap forward, I called yesterday and when I asked for RoL the CM asked if it was a new Resort

That must have been our friend, Maggie!

I called today about some other stuff, but asked about the ROL preview parties, of course. Mine knew all about it too, and said the obligatory "check the blog!" I told her I was worried that there'd be a lag between availability and blog post and she advised to keep calling as well as checking the blog!

We will be staying at the Beach Club. I just hope one doesnt get in the Stormalong Bay pool and be hiding down there some where when we swim:scared1: We never let our dogs stay out at night without someone with them. I have heard coyotes going right through our yard a couple times.

So when watching fireworks on the beach at Poly, I should make sure there are a few people between us and the water, huh? :rolleyes1
When we were there I made my girl stay away from the water lol. I was also on guard walking down the walkway to and from TTC and the Poly because it just seemed like the perfect place for a snake to slither through. At night I wondered what was hiding in all the shrubs:rotfl:
