Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I've done this tour twice, and would recommend it to ANYONE...well, maybe not if you are afraid of heights (that hanging bridge!) or wild animals...seeing those crocodiles up close (but a safe distance!) and watching the hippos be fed was really awesome. And on our second time, we had a momma rhino with her youngster right under our viewing platform on one side, and the giraffes on the other.

Can't recommend it highly enough!
I would love to do this but I'm afraid of heights and I would probably be down on my hands and knees across that bridge:rotfl:

I somehow doubt my comment to ths blog will be allowed through their net...The Blog was posted by their PR Manager. Maybe she should post what people really want to see.

Let's see if attempt #2 slips through...

This sounds like fun for all ages. As PR Manager, you must be aware that this is not the information park goers are waiting for. We are able to make reservations 60 days out for Fastpasses and 180 days out for dining. When will we be able to book these items and see park hours for Animal Kingdom, specifically detailing Rivers of Light which has been given a start date of April 22 as well. There is much frustration over the lack of information coming from Disney beyond the date. It is 5 weeks away and people just want to book and be ready to enjoy their vacations.

I've been refreshing the Disney Blog. I have to laugh, they just posted some new Pandora items.
Maybe they are trying to get us to focus on something else. "Look at the pretty jewelry!"

ETA-Another Blog post just popped up. It's about entertainment at AK.
https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2016/03/disneytweens-party-animals-at-disneys-animal-kingdom/
At least one of my kids will like the dance party party::rotfl2::rotfl2:
"My Tween loves to dance, eat and shop and she can’t wait to party into the night at one of her favorite Disney theme parks beginning April 22! I think your older children will love this new and thrilling transformation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, too!"

You know what my tween loves? BEING ABLE TO BOOK A RIVERS OF LIGHT DINING PACKAGE.

;)

You really can't make this stuff up - given the context, that blog post is just pure comedy! :confused3:rotfl2:

They still will not give you the information you want. That will not come out until Disney is ready to release it.

They've aalready published some posts I'd consider critical (justifiably critical).
here's what I just posted:

Comments
  • There certainly seems to be a lot that is going on at AK at night! We’ll be arriving 4/23 and are really hoping to be able take advantage of some of them. Especially the magical Rivers of Light show we’ve read so much about – that looks spectacular, but without advanced reservations or FPs, it’s doubtful we’ll be able to see it. Do you know when and if these will be available?

Of course! I think that's understood by people here.

There are times where some small piece of new info DOES come from a response to a DPB comment. And certainly only when Disney decides to share that info.

On a positive note, I think the new Nighttime for Tweens blog post confirms that April 22 will definitely (probably? maybe?) be the start date for the nighttime stuff. If that was being pushed, they wouldn't still be releasing blog posts and news items stating April 22. Whether or not that means ROL for that night, who knows but I would guess yes. Fastpasses? Who knows. Dining Packages? What Dining Packages? Hardy har har!

We've been thinking about doing it, but I'm afraid of both of those things. Particularly birds, YIKES.

I would love to do this but I'm afraid of heights and I would probably be down on my hands and knees across that bridge:rotfl:

I'm afraid of heights as well (can't even get on a small step ladder at home to reach the top shelf of my cabinets), but I've heard that the bridge isn't as bad as it seems once you get on it. I'm gonna give it a go and see what happens!

I'm wondering how many people actually left a comment on the Disney blog about this - probably way more than the 20 that are currently approved on the costume post. I feel so sorry for all the CMs that need to answer the same questions about RoL over and over again. They're the ones that get the most blame on the phone because they are the bringer of bad (or no) news yet they are the ones who can do the least about anything.... I think the last few days it probably sucks being a CM at the dining line.

They might announce the meal packages but I think FPs will just start being available to prevent guests from crashing the online server at a certain time and date.

I can imagine that it could get annoying for phone CMs... answering the same questions over and over and not having any info to share. That said, it is their job! As long as people remain respectful and don't take any frustration out on them (clearly not ok!!), it is part of what they are there to do. :)
