Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I wish I was confident that what happened this morning was sign of changes but based on what happened several days ago I don't think so. I think it was just a CM that didn't know they had been postponed.

If you read back to several days ago the same thing happened. Some of the CM thought they could book it until they went to actually do the booking and they got an error. That's when they realized it was not bookable yet. But only some CM tried. Most knew that it wasn't bookable and they didn't even try.

Hmmm, yes definitely possible - hadn't thought of that depressing option! Although it was two CMs - mine seemed to be expecting it today, like "Yes, we are booking preview parties today" but certainly she could have just been behind the times! Ack!

WE'VE HIT A NEW LOW!

Called immediately when I saw @michelepa 's post. We begin and CM says, "Yes, booking PREVIEW PARTIES today" and we get started. 15th and 16th. She was looking up info about differences and we started the booking process.

AND THEN SHE PUT ME ON HOLD AND THEN CAME BACK AND SAID, "I'M SORRY, BOOKING FOR THE PREVIEW PACKAGES HAD BEEN DELAYED". And she could not give me any more information about when booking would become available again.

"Have a Fantasmic day!"

Ouch, that's painful. Soooooo close...

MichelePA, I had to laugh at your post this morning because I couldn't help thinking about it from the CM's point of view. "For weeks they've been clogging up our phone lines asking the same questions over and over and over. I finally get to tell them what they want to hear and they hang up on me!! What's with these people!?"

Please do not interprete this post to mean I think you should have done anything differently. It just struck me as funny. I was also very excited for the preview people when I saw it so thank you for the info even though it turned out to be a false alarm.

:rotfl: I'm sure on the CM's point of view!

False alarm indeed! When she said that I could book, she put me on hold and I started to type and alert - almost pressed "post reply" before she came back on with the bad news!

Unless you both spoke to the same CM. Makes me wonder if it was a CM that had been off the past few days and just assumed they'd been booking them and it wasn't until she tried did she realize they'd been postponed.

Definitely a possibility :crazy2: - I know I got a repeat yesterday from earlier in the week!

Maybe I just have the luck o' the Irish today? :shamrock:

Sorry in advance :offtopic:

Wild Africa trek was horrible for me. I am scarred of birds and there was a bunch of vultures sitting on the bridge that you walk across. I ran until the guide was in my earpiece telling me had to stop until the person before me got across.

So sorry to hear that ... was there anything else about it that you didn't like or weren't expecting? I have only found a few reviews of this and they were all good, so I'd like to hear your experience.

I've been refreshing the Disney Blog. I have to laugh, they just posted some new Pandora items.
Maybe they are trying to get us to focus on something else. "Look at the pretty jewelry!"

ETA-Another Blog post just popped up. It's about entertainment at AK.

Did anyone else read "new Pandora Items" and go to the blog hoping for Avatar inspired items and jewelry, or was that just me?:rotfl2:

I had a thought today and thought I'd share

maybe the delay in releasing dining packages is because Disney is negotiating with Landry's Inc. to try and get them on board with having dinner packages offered for ROL at Yak? Yak is not owned and operated by Disney so Disney would have to bring them into the fold on that one (which one would think they would be chomping at the bit to be a part of, think of how much additional money they could be making if they allowed their restaurant to be part of the package!), only having Tusker and eventually Tiffins (maybe Flame Tree though that I do not believe is officially confirmed?) still might not be enough for the dinner rush demand for the park if ROL is as popular as we believe it to be, having another option would be great for us and spread out the crowds a bit more

Again, just a thought...

I've done this tour twice, and would recommend it to ANYONE...well, maybe not if you are afraid of heights (that hanging bridge!) or wild animals...seeing those crocodiles up close (but a safe distance!) and watching the hippos be fed was really awesome. And on our second time, we had a momma rhino with her youngster right under our viewing platform on one side, and the giraffes on the other.

Can't recommend it highly enough!

"My Tween loves to dance, eat and shop and she can’t wait to party into the night at one of her favorite Disney theme parks beginning April 22! I think your older children will love this new and thrilling transformation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, too!"

You know what my tween loves? BEING ABLE TO BOOK A RIVERS OF LIGHT DINING PACKAGE.

;)

We've been thinking about doing it, but I'm afraid of both of those things. Particularly birds, YIKES.

Definitely a good thought!

Another thought came to mind while you said that..

So we know "preview packages have been postponed" - we get that.. But I kind of feel like, if that's the case with Y&Y, why not release the preview packages only?

We never saw any birds....except for a distance. Nothing on the bridges...and since you are zip lined in a safety harness, the bridge is really not an issue...and actually, I think they may have a "go around" for chickens, but I'm not sure. I loved it!

I somehow doubt my comment to ths blog will be allowed through their net...The Blog was posted by their PR Manager. Maybe she should post what people really want to see.
