Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Doesn't make sense to me to keep hammering them when you know they won't tell you anything. Maybe to help with the frustration. Best way to protest the way Disney does new releases is to send a letter to Guest Communications, not that it will change much.
I wasnt really trying to hammer them , I just posted that I thought it was going to be amazing! And that I was patiently waiting for hours and dining packages.

When I logged onto MDE a few minutes ago, the website looked totally different. Everything was showing as boxes that you could scroll to the right, each box had a title like Events, Special dining, character dining, Attractions, etc...

I got excited, I thought the new look of site meant things had been loaded...i clicked on the box with the title Special Dining and looked for ROL. They had the dessert parties, Fantasmic dining, dining with imagineer etc all in this category...no other dining. So this was totally different with how it is usually.

Anyhow...ROL dining wasnt there. When I hit the back arrow to go back the main screen the site was back to normal...format was the usual way. All dining under one heading..

I swear I wasn't hallucinating. I wish I had taken a screencap of it. Anyone else see it?

like the old saying goes, "you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar"

Now let's see if there are any replies.....

And ultimately, that's the reason this keeps happening.
If you don't listen to the true voice of your customer, you don't change.

Thanks, yulilin3. Your input is always appreciated!!

Based on how cool this sounds, I just tried to change my Fastpasses on April 26 to see this wonderous sight......unfortunately the last one of the day is 4:35-5:35 and I think the sun will still be up.:sunny:
C'mon Disney, get your act in gear!

However, if they tune you out as a complainer, they may not listen at all...I believe that you can say the same message respectfully and get further than shouting (not that you did...just in general).

Also, I guess for those who haven't been on this thread for the entire time, please realize that the folks here are often venting, and aren't necessarily hammering the CMs. There have been numerous posts over these past 175 pages talking about positive interaction, even when there is nothing new.

A little more word smithing and presto.
3rd time is the charm - made it to the Comments section on their Blog.
C'mon folks, let them know you're not happy.:mad:>:(:scared:

Actually, the Comments are moderated by a third party company and they are given rules that a comment is measured against, thus, on the third attempt, I was able to properly phrase my point and get it posted. You don't need to pretend there is no issue when you are frustrated (not that you did...just in general), you just need to find the right way to raise your point.

I'm sooooo excited about all the new ak stuff :)

I want to see the pick up soccer games and the stilt walkers and the tree of life projections.

Maybe they'll even bring out some new characters as night time meet and greet experiences!

Ak is such a great park at night. Last year my bf and I were there in a day it was open until 7 PM and we stayed until close. We got some excellent night pictures near Everest, then I chose to ride and he wanted to do last minute shopping in harambe. I went to meet him after my ride and it was a very surreal experience. I never saw another person after I left Everest until I got to Africa. Really felt like I was exploring on my own.

I am definitely an AK fangirl and I think all this new stuff might catapult ak over mk for me.

Per a post on the DIBB, schedule to
Open still on 22nd --- but FP and dining packages won't be available for weeks -- ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Yes per the DIBB: Disney still saying it will be open 22nd April, but give it a couple of weeks for fastpass and dining!

Again, not the most succinct of messages. Is that a couple of weeks after today or a couple of weeks after April 22? Bahhh ;o)

There is no way that Disney blog is going to give you a date to book anything, or publish critical posts.
We have repeatedly been told that the Blog WILL announce when booking opens. Maybe you missed that part of the discussion?
Now, we all suspect there will be a lag between when it actually opens and when the blog posts the announcement but the blog will give the info.
Which is why there is no harm in asking

Me too!! DH and I were just talking last night about how we miss the evening EMH hours at AK! Lovely at night... and perhaps lovelier was that it wasn't packed! With the park open later, I wonder if they'll add back late EMH at AK...

AK is already my favorite park out of the 4.
I picked it as the first park to take my Mom to on her first visit.
It is often the first park we visit on our trips, though I typically go by crowd calendars

They still will not give you the information you want. That will not come out until Disney is ready to release it.

You may be confused, The Disney Parks Blog we are being told to watch is run by Disney. As for your point about critical comments not making it through, I did just that about 15 minutes ago.

Wild Africa trek was horrible for me. I am scarred of birds and there was a bunch of vultures sitting on the bridge that you walk across. I ran until the guide was in my earpiece telling me had to stop until the person before me got across.

Have you tried Flights of Wonder?

Yes, I know, I know. It might be horrifying to you. However...

Last time we watched that show, a tour guide accidentally walked into the theater, not knowing what the show was about. The guy - I think his name was "Joe" - was TERRIFIED of birds, and almost ran out when he found out where he was.

Anyway, he stuck around, and with the help of a CM and her feathered companions, he was able to overcome the fear.

One word of caution, though: the benefits of said therapy might be short-lived, since I've heard the guy has suffered a number of relapses.

Might be worth looking into, though.

:guilty: Well, I just called to book the wild Africa trek and spoke with the nicest CM. Sadly we can't do the WAT as my son is only 7 (min age is 8).

I asked him about ROL just to see what he would say. He said that ROL will be launching April 22nd but they have no information on booking dates for dining packages or fp+. He sounded confident the show would still launch on April 22nd and joked with me about all the calls they are getting and he knew about the parks blog comments too. He said there are a lot of rumors about what's going on and while he couldn't confirm anything, he told me as soon as I see the post on the blog with the pkg availability to call asap as its expected to book very very quickly.

Again, just passing along info which may or may be true...

you would think with all the "NIGHT TIME IN AK" hype they are pushing, that they would at least update park hours.....
I believe all park hours are reviewed/updated when the next months' hours are released. Next weekish we should get October hours, and hopefully see extended summer hours for AK posted at that time. I would expect FPs (at least for the night safari) to be updated at the same time. Fingers crossed!!!

I'm really excited too ! We may skip one of our MK nights and head over to AK and do AK 2 nights.
