Rumor: Simpsons ride to replace Back To The Future

if the TM's are dropping their doubts, the game is on.

I'm looking forward to the Simpsons in the park. I still don't understand the tie-in to 'Ride the Movies' even with next year's release. Neutron fit nicely before Nick didn't renew their contract.

ride it while you can and take lots of pictures. :)

from the above article---"No comment from Universal, but speculation on some unofficial Web sites indicates a new storyline and ride vehicles could be based on The Simpsons cartoon or The Fast and the Furious car-racing movies."

Thanks for the article....notice how it starts all Universal, then filters into Disney...then hotels and tourism in general. She didn't have much info to write about BTTF closing, so, she put it out there and used "fillers"..... Wonder if WE (the DIS) is "some unofficial Web sites" she refers too.... and fwiw: I think I'd rather see the Fast & Furious instead of the Simpsons....like Amity 3 said "RIDE THE MOVIES" (i know Simpsons is coming out w/ movie.....)

You'd be surprised how many of UO's higher-ups do frequent this board. It was a topic addressed at several meetings that I was a part of.

with the exception of the JP island, there's no land to build anything without shutting down an existing attraction.

What about taking down that theatre and building it out in the Citywalk area. Then use that land for something?

I want them to knock down the Toon Lagoon stadium and use that area for something new.

That's the one I mean. How often is that actually used?

Personally my fav is Jurassic Park, would love to see another themed boat ride of some type, just love boat rides. But I wouldn't complain if they did another Spidey type ride either. Just no sims, I think they are cheesy, but thats just me. Or maybe a 300ft plus super coaster, that's the one thing they don't have that they probably need at the Universal property in general.

JP lover here, too

We blew all of our wedding cash at Sound Advice after watching JP in their "home theater room" while waiting for my car speakers to get installed.

What I've never understood is why IOA never did a real "movie" ride for JP. I mean, the movie is perfect for a ride. I'm talking about the little educational part while we're all in a vehicle like on Spidey or maybe a Jeep for the part in the movie where Hammond is talking about how the dino DNA is made; then the vehicle moves "out into the park" and stops in front of the T-rex pit. T-rex comes out, scares the guests, does some dino roaring, rocks the vehicle a bit, guests' vehicle tears off with T-rex chasing after. Guests load off the vehicle into a sort of indoor area where guests can watch some raptors fight and spray stuff (sweat, blood, whatever...dino juices!) on them. Then the T-rex comes back, kills the raptors, guests rush out before T-rex is finished with his meal.

I'm talking about animatronic dinos here, similar (but much scarier) to the JP water ride, not the stiff ones already scattered through the JP walkway.

All right...between my new Kong ride and this, who do I need to talk to over at Universal to get some wheels in motion on this?

step forward and collect your Imagineering diploma. there's concept art out there for a jeep ride attraction that has never been built.

Wow, conceptual art, really, Amity? Whoo-hoo!

Any idea when/if something like that might get implemented?

:sad1:

I really don't want to see BTTF go. I know I'm in the minority here, but I STILL love the ride. I remember how excited I was when I saw that there would be a BTTF ride when I first went to Universal in 90/91 (I don't remember which, but it was before Jaws closed). I remember the excitement of going on it for the first time after it opened.
Every time I would go to Universal, I made sure to ride BTTF. In 1999, when I started working for Universal, I still popped over to USF periodically and rode BTTF. In 2003 I transferred to BTTF. During my time there, I had more fun working at that attraction than any other I worked at. I even got Employee of the Month (8/03) and then of the Division (9/03). I even had major uncertainty as to if I should leave BTTF to open ROTM. Though I did accept ROTM, I still visited BTTF regularly.

Now, BTTF is most likely going bye-bye. The only thing I can do is to go to Universal this month, and pay my respects to BTTF. I'll make sure to bring my digi cam and fresh batteries, as I intend on taking a lot of pics of the BTTF stuff.

Maybe they can leave one pod open for guys like you DM ;)

Ugh.....we hated BTTF. It was so jerky and I found it hard to watch the screen and not get sick. But I understand others like it and that's fine. To each his own. But for us a different ride would be better. I thought I heard something about it being made into a fast and furious ride( sorry if this was already mentioned ) or the simpsons ride. To us either would be better.

On our local news it said it would either be the Simpsons or Fast and the Furious ride which would be called, "Need for Speed." They are still unsure of the exact attraction.

The JP boat ride was actually based on a section of the original Mike Crieghton book where they end up in the river. I think the US execs just thought a boat ride was needed and a good way to do it (Originally done at Hollywood park first before IOA was built).

Yes your idea is awesome, but I don't think it is possible, it is still hard to engineer a big robot/dinosaur that could move that fluidly, not to mention major $$$$, but you never know what the future will hold.

And as for space, I was looking on the map again, and of course I haven't seen the legal descriptions of where the boundaries are but looking at the map it looks like they still have tons of space left, they would have to build new paths to access it, but there is a huge section with a lake behind kind of the meeting section of the JP/lost continent area, and just lots of room at other spots too, kind of left of RP behind the Super Hero section, I'm sure they could build new stuff there without getting rid of anything, at least I hope, they shouldn't get in the bad habit of "getting rid" of rides and attractions, anything really outdated is already gone, except maybe BTTF, won't cry over that one.

That sounds odd, "Need for Speed" is a video game franchise and I dont believe it relates to Universal in any way, and it definitely doesn't have a relation to Fast and Furious

The rumors we're hearing make me wonder how much the ride will really change. :confused3 It seems the concepts being tossed around include the cars already in place. The cars are a major part of the problem. Personally, I'd like to see something totally different, preferably a ride vehicle that moves along a track of some kind.

There's not enough space in the BTTF building to house a ride that goes on a track.

Here, here!!! I completely agree. King Kong was great! I miss the ride even more now that the re-make has come out. We were down in Orlando in February, and the place was packed with King Kong goodies...but no longer any ride :confused3

Bring back Kong!!! Now there's a ride that will appeal to many, many generations.

I loved Kong. No way I will ever ride The Mummy. I hate roller coasters and I really love simulators. That's part of the reason I love US so much; is the simulators. IOA was disappointing, as I felt like I was at Six Flags. It is surprising for me to read comments from those who are bothered by Back to the Future but yet love Hulk & Dueling Dragons.
