Rumor: Simpsons ride to replace Back To The Future

Good point on the fireworks bunkers.
There isn't much room behind BTTF to do anything. There's the Barney show building right there. I went on that site that lets you fly around and saved a couple pictures. Click each one and then make it big in your browser.

In the first picture you can see BTTF and the Barney show behind it. In the 2nd picture you can see the fireworks bunkers in the land next to MIB.

It would be a real dud to just change the movie and that's it. There has to be something else they can do. There's a little piece of land next to the ball house. They could move some of the buildings there, then expand the BTTF building.

Thanks for the space info. I couldnt see being able to do more than change the movie unless they could expand their usable space. If they are keeping the building as is does anyone think any other ride type would fit there?

I can't see Universal getting another ride/attraction before IOA.

i would think so, since Simpsons will attract smaller kids.....i see another Jimmy Neutron ride in the works....... .......that is, provided the rumor is true!

The Simpsons would attract small kids? Have you ever watched the show? The demographic that watches is probably between 14-50. Definitely an adult show, and my favorite of all time. This is the first I've heard about this ride, and I'm really excited about it!

BTW, I'm 28 and I've been watching it for 17 seasons now.

sure, i used to watch the show religiously until about the 7th or 8th season.... i just meant I don't see a "ROTM" type-ride....something cartoonish and "family friendly"....i don't think universal would throw the Simpson's in there, market it and have it be an "adult" ride....i can see them gearing it towards kids too...even IF the show is more mature.....

I can see what you're saying now. I'd like to see a thrill ride of some sort, but I'd be surpised as well. I think it will help pull people in though, the Simpsons are still pretty big.

Screamscape is reporting they want to keep the existing IMAX technology and make it a 4D attraction. Translation, same ride, new movie, wind blast at your feet or face, water or bubbles from the ceiling, and 3D glasses. Ho hum. What they don't get, is that simulator technology makes half the people sick.

BUT, they may make the ride smoother....not necessarily keep the same "motions".....so, maybe they keep it "the same ride", but tone it, smooth it, whatever......keep the faith!

i know that the BBTF ride is rough and many people can't ride it but this is kind of sad as it is a classic ride. I love BBTF....We'll be there in October so I hope this is not true.

I'll be there in less than 2 weeks to ride it for the last time. It'll be tough but I have to admit. I do welcome the change (although I would've gladly welcomed a refurbishment of the same attraction as well). An entirely new attraction is much more marketable though. Let's hope it's worthwhile.

I've ridden the one in Florida and Hollywood and they both made me sick and gave the rest of the family a headache. We sure won't miss it.

nothing is official yet, so let's hold off on the BTTF funeral. I'd bet it's going to happen sometime soon, but we'd have to send Doc Brown into the future to find out what would replace it.

in the meantime, it's all just rumors and speculation.

I can't ride it either. It literally takes me hours to feel better after riding it, and this comes from someone that can ride the Hulk 4 times in a row and be just fine.

I am from the BTTF generation. These films have to be my husband and mines favourite films. Great classics. Saying that I just don't get simulator rides of any description. Apart from making me feel nauseas all day, they really are incredibly boring. I could watch TV in my own living room and throw myself around on the sofa, it would be just as interesting.

The Simpsons are massive in the UK and with good reason IMO. They recently were first in a poll on the best childrens programmes of all time, and everyone said they should be the top general programme of all time, not just for kids. We have the British comedy awards here and I don't think there has been many years they haven't won anything. I will point out that the one thing the British do the best is with humour (everthing else I'm sticking with USA) and I know that is what we are famous for. I think that is why The Simpsons are so popular here is because the humour is so, well, British. It is very rare for an American programme to take the mickey out of American society. The British have no problem in doing that about ourselves and it is so refreshing to see that from America. I would love to see a Simpsons ride. The only thing I worry about is it spoiling and loosing the humour from it. I also worry the same in regards to the film, what they do best is half hour episodes.

It had bobbies chasing an author in fast motion on foot then the author would be chasing them and all the while playing that Monty Python chase music. Monty Python is definetely extreme obscure British humour, and I'm not sure I've ever got it either. Some clips of it are classics and are very funny but most of it is just plain weird. That Simpson episode I haven't seen but by the sound of it, it sounds like it is Benny Hill rather then Monty Python. I would also like to mention that Benny Hill is not, and has never been popular in the UK (maybe by a bit in the past). That really is not classic British humour. The stuff that is popular today are mostly stand up comedians and series like The Office.
