Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I posted on the other thread a bit ago about not being surprised by the reservation system. I figured there was going to be limited or no resorts opened for awhile. It would be extremely difficult trying to use a reservation system with on site guests and off site.
I think in the CNBC interview comment on the resorts was a good insight to what they will do.The resorts could be closed or limited for awhile till they see how it goes.

Yes and just judging from this thread a lot of cancellations, this will cause some of the restrictions to be lifted ASAP when the CDC relaxes it.

If this is the "new normal" people aren't going to be spending the big money to come to Florida and vacation to Disney. They'll go back to more regional vacations - state parks, beaches, local amusements. I know people who are already planning that for this summer -- buying boats, buying campers, etc.

I don't think the majority of people will LET this be the "new normal". This virus has barely touched the majority of Americans (just think about yourself .. how many people do you know had the flu this winter? Now how many do know have COVID?) (For me that answer is zero). If it isn't affecting people's normal lives, they aren't going to let it change their habits too much and people will go where there are less restrictions because it will be less inconvenient and more fun.

It's actually more that some people, like myself, know 8 people who had Covid...and all recovered just fine. So, it won't be just the folks who knew no one who want a normalcy, but also the folks who saw it in action, and saw it was like the flu for those in their 40's, and almost a total non-factor for those in their 20s and below (ps - yes, having choir and theater friends was a big thing for knowing folks who got this...

I know people are upset and I am sorry to all who have affected trips. I am just so happy that we an actual date. It feels like all will be right with the world when the World opens. I'm giddy and don't even have a trip booked this year.

Well there is the resort news.

No new reservations for resorts, except for DVC they can make new reservations.

All DVC resorts open 6/22

DVC Vero and Hilton Head open 6/15

Regular resorts no date given

I cancelled my kids summer camp in a hot second after they announced that masks will be required. Can you imagine 8 & 10 year olds away for their first overnight summer camp and they have to wear masks the whole time?!?!? They won't remember anything other than how uncomfortable it was. I'm not ready to cancel Disney yet but the thought of watching my kids at Disney with masks makes me sad, not to be able to see their joy and wonder.

Someone said having a hotel reservation that includes tickets still won't guarantee park entry? That's a dealbreaker for us. We will be driving many many miles to come.

We will resume new ticket sales and hotel reservations after that period of time. Theme park reservations will be limited due to attendance limitations and will be subject to availability. Additionally, Disney Vacation Club resorts at Walt Disney World will reopen to members and guests and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will begin to reopen on June 22. Disney Vacation Club resorts in Vero Beach, Florida, and Hilton Head, South Carolina, will also open to members and guests starting on June 15. Plans to support required physical distancing as well as enhanced cleaning measures, along with a number of other safety and cleanliness protocols, will be implemented as part of this planned phased reopening.

Interesting that they specifically said that DVC and Fort Wilderness Campgrounds and Cabins would be open - but no mention of anything else. This is going to be a WDW trip like no other this summer.

exactly what they are doing and why, interest free loan on our end while they are collecting interest to keep.
give people a sense of hope by cancelling week to week, change 30 day to 7 day cancel so they don’t cancel till you want them to - last minute

Really? I don't see that at all. I see they settled on a date they think will work for them, not that they had this date all along.
