Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

A rocket launch scheduled for tomorrow afternoon with humans (60% go flight on weather) and a potential plan for Disney to release reopening plans tomorrow? I'll look to my East in the late afternoon, but want to hear more than a future date(s) at WDW.

@atricks said the OC department of health was on property today at WDW and SeaWorld doing their reopening-procedure-inspections, yes. Now they will have to present and have their reopening plans approved.

They mentioned it in the press conference today, that's about all the detail we have. No idea about where exactly or what, they may talk about it tomorrow though.

How about Universal cares about its employees and kept them on the payroll. Universal treated it's employees liked humans in a crises not numbers on a balance sheet.

Disney executives don't care about middle and lower level employees and just them go , many to the horrible Florida unemployment system ranked one of the worst in the country.
Perhaps the state of Florida should treat its lower- and middle-class citizens better and allow for a better unemployment system! It's not Disney's fault that Florida's system was faulty. If it wasn't for Florida's system, WDW employees would be doing generally the same, if not better in terms of wages. Also, Disneyland CA has plenty of employees (as well as Imagineering) that were subjected to the same thing and I haven't heard any reports of their issues here.

You also need to keep in mind that Universal is owned by Comcast, a much, much larger company than Disney. A significant portion of Disney's revenue streams have been impacted, to the point that limited merchandise, ad revenue and (thankfully) Disney+ are really their only source of income. You can't say that about Comcast, so they've had the ability to keep employees on the payroll.

Another argument that could be made is that rushing the parks open and requiring Universal's employees to be there could be putting them at risk. Disney's at least been working with their unions to ensure employee safety and having the employee's voices heard via their union heads.

I look at it from a value perspective. I wouldn't pay my lawn guy to mow half my yard because I like his mower better.

That is not a good analogy. This works for me: We have 2 restaurants in town. Italian and Mexican. I want Mexican food. I don’t like Italian, but the Mexican restaurant cut their menu in half. I’ll put up with less on the menu, because I still like what little they have. :)

Exactly.

They aren't substitutes for each other. If you just want a vacation and to go *somewhere*, cool. If you want a Disney vacation, nothing is going to meet that need except a Disney vacation. I think this all the time when people talk about how Europe, Mexico, camping, whatever is cheaper. Yeah, but is it Disney World? No? Then that doesn't help me lol. Even Disneyland doesn't fit the bill for me, it's a different vacation.

And in this case Mexican has double the menu size in the beggining

You have to remember that Disney did not "just let them go." They ones that aren't working now were furloughed. There is a big difference between laid off and furloughed. Plus, Disney paid both ends of health insurance. Some mid-level people at Disney might be struggling but the lower paid ones are getting $875 per week.
My daughter and her bf are both Disney employees, one in parks and one not. My daughter filled out her unemployment application the day after the furlough began (due to her particular position, she was not put in by Disney, like many others) and her bf got his put in directly by Disney. Around a week or so later, the bf got a request from FL unemployment for more information and immediately filled it out. Both got their first payments around 2 1/2 weeks after the furlough began. My daughter is making around what she was making at Disney and her bf is making a bit more. For them, it has been a smooth process. I know many CMs have had a hard time with getting unemployment and that is very unfortunate. I don't know why some go through so quickly and others have not. Not all CMs are thinking that Disney treated them poorly. In fact, they think Disney handled it in the best way possible under the circumstances.

Well, great, now I want Mexican food.

All that I *really* need to know is:
1) when are they reopening the parks and resorts
2) what parks are reopening
3) that table service dining is reopening.

That's all I need. Any other info would be gravy.

Agree and will add need to know about bus transportation, pools, and fireworks

Maybe MK for only resort guests at first. Then they wouldn’t have to get all those people from the TTC to the park. Just a thought. Not that I like it.

Know this is really not realistic, but need my four parks open at same time in some capacity

AK- need my FOP and Satuli ( honorable mention to safari and FOTLK
EPCOT - need my WS ! we are not in Disney until we are eating around the world !
MK- need my fireworks dessert party and nostalgia
DHS - need our SW moments and Sci-Fi !!

Would Disney really try to open one park at a time? That seems doomed to disappoint a lot of people with reservations when UO is fully opening.

My gut is telling me all the transportation modes open with resorts (with modifications when needed for distancing).

I have a hard time believing the rumoured everyone drive yourself thing.
Unless they just open the parks for a week or two (or longer) without the resorts. Then the only transportation they need to worry about is getting people from TTC to MK.

Disney will need to figure out how to manage current reservations no matter when or how they open. Even if they open all parks , resorts may not be opened. Even if the resorts are open, people still may not want to go “as is” with all this restrictions.

There will be people PO’d if Disney decides to open the day after their check in date and have to cancel their whole vacation. Etc.
