Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Even if Disney opens June 14 .. (I guess they could open up parks earlier, doesn't mean their resorts have to be open) .. there is still a lot of information they need to get out there on how they will open up .. and how they will handle existing reservations.

At this point . .just wipe the slate clean (cancel all reservations, ADRs, fast passes) for the next month or two) .. and let us all start over from scratch based on that information.

Granted that would be chaotic, but I think trying to accommodate people who have "normal" vacations booked during this initial opening period will be chaotic too.

From a marketing perspective that's a terrible idea. I imagine the issue of ADRs and resort room reservations will somewhat sort itself out once measures are announced with guests self-selecting out of that experience and cancelling. It's much easier to "freeze" the remainder of bookings and figure out what to do with them than to burn tens of thousands of resort guests by outright cancelling their reservations and forcing them to rebook for the same time period.

Agreed, that would make no sense. The rolling cancellations are annoying, yes, and I would rather just know like everyone else. But so many people would be outraged if they cancelled everything just to have to rebook and possibly not get their original booking plans due to availability.
Madden you also said you're only waiting on your res to see if Disney offers you a promotion. Some people actually want to go on their trip...

Thank you! Did a search and found no talk of limited capacity. Did I miss something or are they just going full bore?
Not sure if someone replied yet to your question. From what I took away from the presentation is they will be managing capacity for a safe attendance maximum with social distancing taken in to consideration. He didn't share a specific number, but that the number will be based on what is a safe attendance level.

As I’m watching The Disunplugged on YouTube breaking down UPR plan, so much is running through my head.

Id love to see something like the preshow on Soarin that all guests need to watch before entering the park talking about all the requirements and the acknowledgement that masks in July are what they are, but that by coming into the park you are agreeing to suck it up and deal with it. It is what it is. So be thankful and grateful you are here, and play by the rules because if too many don’t Disney/UO will take their ball and go home. Aka they are giving us an inch, let’s not take a mile.

I think Six Flags is doing that as part of their reservation system. You have to watch a short video and accept that you acknowledge and agree to the rules as a condition of being allowed in the park. Would be great if they all did that.

My idea was just a "pie in the sky" "wouldn't it be nice" idea. Not realistic, I understand. Disney is in a no-win situation in most scenarios. Someone, somewhere will be upset.

I mean . .IF they open up on June 14th, won't people who have a June 13 check-in (and were cancelled) be super upset? Why couldn't they just have checked in a day later and kept their current plans?

So I wasn't "realistically" proposing that .. just tossing out "clean slate" ideas to put everyone on the same footing. Sure .. it will be upsetting and chaotic any way.

I didn't say I didn't WANT to go on my trip. I do and good luck to all those who do get in "under the wire" so to speak. I am only planing on NOT going because I feel that the restrictions that they WILL implement just won't make my vacation WORTH (to me) the money I am paying for it. Without more information (what will be open, what won't be open) to make an informed decision to cancel or not, no reason to NOT hold onto it, but yes. I am leaning on not going even if they open the day before my check-in.

But who knows .. things may be more normal than I suspect and we may decide to still go.

I can’t wait to stand next to a bunch of strangers being told to watch a video no one wants to watch. Tuning in just in the right moment to hear I should be thankful and grateful I’ve been given the chance to give thousands of dollars to a company.

I think just for the sake of irony, the first attraction that should open is "Rivers of Light"

What are the assumptions about when international travelers can come? Will they climb to full capacity by the end of summer?

There are no assumptions, that is dependent on the Feds.

Right now only people who have travelled in certain countries are banned from entering the US, but most of the world can still enter actually. Chatter a ban might get slapped on Brazil but nothing has happened yet.

ETA: I don’t think anyone anticipates full capacity until this is over

I'm not normally one to care about people getting off topic, but I do wish in this case we could have a thread that is not for discussion and truly only a watch thread, maybe need a new thread entirely at this point as a watch thread for Universal reservation system news or anything about how opening will actually work.
