I agree and disagree.
I am definitely of the opinion that we need to open things slowly and cautiously, and not because people are ready for them to open and done with COVID-19, but because it's proven safe. I also think it's not just about what a business can do to prevent spread in their individual business, but what testing, tracking, and containment looks like in each individual area. Those need to be solid.
However, we really can't stay at home forever and keep non-essentials (and that's vague in itself) closed. It's not a storm, it's not here and then suddenly gone where we can all come out again. The distancing, the masks, and other rules and guidelines are needed in the period where *hopefully* numbers continue to decrease. Once we see what life with precautions does, I imagine everything can be re-evaluated again (and again and again and again).
