Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I bet that's what I'm remembering, thanks.

I agree and disagree.

I am definitely of the opinion that we need to open things slowly and cautiously, and not because people are ready for them to open and done with COVID-19, but because it's proven safe. I also think it's not just about what a business can do to prevent spread in their individual business, but what testing, tracking, and containment looks like in each individual area. Those need to be solid.

However, we really can't stay at home forever and keep non-essentials (and that's vague in itself) closed. It's not a storm, it's not here and then suddenly gone where we can all come out again. The distancing, the masks, and other rules and guidelines are needed in the period where *hopefully* numbers continue to decrease. Once we see what life with precautions does, I imagine everything can be re-evaluated again (and again and again and again).
I agree with opening small businesses and things on that level. I have always been of the opinion that rushing to open theme parks is a whole nother lever.

Not long ago there was a group that wanted WDW to open ASAP (the "optimists") and others that said it needed to wait (labeled as "negative" or "pesssimists"). Strange how things turn around.

Lol I was thinking that. Like here I am listing reasons why WDW should attempt to open at some point in the near future. Who am I? :ssst:

turned around? People still want to go to Disney ASAP. There are more Disney fans that are out there not on Disboards

But, I‘m not sure that will matter. As a consumer after waiting this long for things to open & then when they start to, you see the list of restrictions & less than experiences, my first thought is no thanks I’ll save my $. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. Then there are those who are still too scared to leave d the house, those who are too vulnerable & really shouldn’t & those who don’t have the income to spend & I’m not sure there are many ppl left.

My point is the "open up now" crowd seemed to have turned into the "keep it closed" crowd.

To be fair to @LSUmiss, they have always been vocal about not wanting to wear a mask in Disney, and that they would cancel.

But yeah, I have seen that shift in quite a few people who wanted Disney open ASAP but are annoyed they are being told they have to do something to make that possible.

Deni mentioned on the show that they are making everyone get out of the pools every couple of hours to clean them. I don't know which pools, but I am guessing any community pool that is open in her area right now.

Oh man - I just read this and thought - "omg, they are going to make ppl get out of the pools every few hours to clean them?" - are they going to use a hose ? !

And just when I almost convinced myself maybe I could deal with a mask (MAYBE), the pool thing comes up.

My point is the "open up now" crowd seemed to have turned into the "keep it closed" crowd - mainly due to the restrictions.

If Disney announced at 11pm tonight that they’re opening their parks tomorrow, but you have to wear a full face mask with just your eyes exposed, and you had to walk backwards through the park all day, the parks would be filled. Believe me, the noise on the people that want the full experience is heard, but it still doesn’t account for a majority of people that love Disney. You just have to look at the sales of their face masks, especially the Star Wars ones to know that’s true

I might have missed it rummaging thru all of the mask posts, but any mention of fireworks at all ? No... Maybe .... Phase 2 or 3 possibly -- or, sorry... Ain't happening

Not for a while. No official confirmation for domestic parks, but fireworks, shows, and parades don’t go hand and hand with social distancing.

Last few times I went, we could easily social distance at the Plaza Garden Dessert Party ! 😃
I love the dessert parties. Unlike SDL, WDW has many, many places you can view fireworks from a distance. They don't have to do the traditional mass gathering at the hub. Limit the number into the hub, have different locations with hard ticket dessert parties etc...I can see where they could easily have fireworks- don't know that they will, but they could, especially if they have a low capacity limit. We have the 3rd scheduled for the dessert party, not confident they're going to have them, but I sure hope if they're open, they do.

I think a lot of the open up now crowd was “open up now like normal or close to normal”. When it isn’t going to be close to normal then don’t really want it open.

For some, sure. But that’s not with all people that are willing to go to Disney if they open soon. You don’t really have to wander far down the street to realize that there was a very good chance Disney was never going to reopen without certain guidelines in place. First question people that don’t flock to Disney forums ask me is“When do you think Disney will open?”, not “Do you think Disney will require masks, reduced capacity and social distancing guidelines when they open?” Disney will have no issue whatsoever filling their desired capacity limit the day they open, regardless of how many guidelines are in place, and I would bet a large sum of money on that.

People that don’t want to visit while having to wear mask, no parades, M&G, fireworks, etc are well within their rights to say they won’t go until those restrictions are lifted. But to assume Disney won’t have people chomping at the bit to go to their parks, even with those restrictions in place is mighty ignorant.
