I think there are many of us who see the virus for what is, but we are also ready to get life going again. Not sure why it has to be black and white.

I don’t have a dog in the Disney fight right now. My trip is next year.

I just want to watch vlogs from reopening day.

I believe the wearing of masks will happen. It will be hot and inconvieent. So is taking my shoes off in the airport (after 911). They even had small kids and older people do that until just recently. I think tempature checks (I think it’s for show as we know that not all people will have fever or they could develop) but it will be one more check they can say they did. I am sure they will be somewhat flexible with small children. I don‘t think testing can be done at the parks. I agree with a previous poster who said Disney can find a quicker test using their resources. Yet, the problem I see is violation of privacy. A legal waiver would be easy to do. Just like you had to check a box online for your ADR saying you acknowledge terms they could do the same for a medical liability for virus. I actually have faith that Disney can social distance and spread out. Parades and fireworks have nothing on crowds like rope drops and boarding groups. Rope drops are always packed and no room to move. This is all in my opinion of course!

I still think what Disney is doing in Shanghai will probably happen here. Disney is going to be different and I think that's where a lot of people differ. It seems like a lot think the gates are going to open and it will the Disney of old. I don't think it is, social distancing is going to be here for awhile. Shanghai wouldn't be doing what they are doing if that's the case. I fully believe some of the rumored measures will be put in place. Limited capacity will be around for awhile.

Yep the chip and dale one had people following them. I think a handler also came in and moved a parent and kid trying to take a picture.

I would prefer this & do more character dining this way. DS (2) just wants to see them & gets frustrated when he sees them across the room but can’t go up to them yet b/c a family is taking 200 photos in a photo shoot & posing in all possible combos & variations of family members. We avoid everything but Crystal Palace now b/c of this. Crystal palace is usually quick & efficient & they do the little parade. He prefers that anyway.

Character dining is good revenue for Disney, and I think this is one area where Disney may test some things and see how it turns out and adjust accordingly. They are not going to want kids running up to the characters. If they can test some type of 'characters enter, walk around, do a little show and exit' successfully, we may see the character dining still taking place.

Also notice even in China masks are not on everyone. Masks being mandatory will be a stretch in the US

I just wish they would state the policy in masks now! Trying to plan for fall and if masks are required means we will look for other things to do for fun.

But even with or with out masks I’m not sure how fun it is to be always worrying about if I’m standing in the right spot let alone keeping kids to do it.

Maybe I’m wrong but it has always seemed like from blogs and reviews that there aren’t as many kids at the Asian parks, or at least younger kids.

Agree and this may be a subtle way for Disney to discourage those in higher risks groups without telling those groups to stay home, which would not be very guest friendly. But since it's not feasible to implement these social distancing measures with ECVs, it's just easier to direct everyone to wheelchairs.

It also avoids an ADA lawsuit.

In the bullet points posted on the first page, it is indicated masks will not be required by children, and they are still deciding on adults. Obviously it’s all conjecture right now, but at least it does seem they realize how difficult it is to get a child to safely wear a mask that was not raised in a mask-wearing culture. My kids have recently been talked to about wearing masks and how to properly do so - doesn’t mean they would do a good job in an actual situation, though. I have one special needs child who cannot wear a mask at all right now. There are many like him.

I agree - that could be an ADA lawsuit...the effects on the deaf and hard of hearing, the claustrophobic, the anxiety sufferers, the autistic, etc, could make a "mandatory" designation impossible to hold. Note - there are already exceptions in almost every locality that is requiring one for disabilities (and the feds have now come down and said they may start going after the draconian measures...and this may be one)...

And at Disney, if you have to allow all the exceptions, that would pretty much mean no one can enforce them b/c Disney does attract everyone...

I think they just don't know exactly what is going to happen. Will masks be required when they first open? A few months after? For a few years? Never? Just unclear

Personally I think it is a non-zero chance that masks will be required in the fall (no idea if it is a 1% chance or 90% chance, but greater than zero) so if that is an absolute non-starter for you I would at least work on back-up plans (if you aren't already - though masks might be required a lot of places)

we will just save money this year if masks are required. I live in Florida and go a lot so we can take some time off if need be. Worst case we won’t vacation for awhile no real harm.

yeah, I think we may take some time off travel as well.

I think hoping for a positive situation and looking forward to something makes sense, but just realistic that this might not be "back to normal" for a long time
