Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I was watching vlogs today and also thinking about my own experience at resorts. Packed food courts and pools. Packed buses. This is why I think resorts open after the parks. Or they open at very reduced capacity.

Unfortunately most of the DVC resorts are at full capacity thru the end of the year. Everyone who had vacations cancelled March - May re-booked and filled the resorts. By Disney allowing this they have put themselves in quite the predicament

but if things are scaled back in any way still at that time, we will cancel. I don’t know how everyone else feels but we don’t want to come for disappointment. Is that wrong?

No i dont think thats wrong at all. Everyone has their different points of what matters and such. For me and my family the only thing that would stop us from going would be mandatory masks....But thats also because we have what will be a 2.5 and 5 year old on this trip. They wont know the difference on any restrictions and will still feel like that magical place that they love.

Yeah the 24 hour events are not something Disney really likes to do because of staffing, cleaning, and maintenance. A large portion of their maintenance is done overnight.
Even grocery stores have *reduced* their hours around here to have time to disinfect and restock shelves. I would imagine the same plies to WDW - they need the night hours to disinfect and do maintenance.

Or the other option is to go on other vacations elsewhere.
That's exactly my point. I probably didnt make it very well. It's just a far diminished experience unless you are a fanatic and can compartmentalize yourself ignoring what's happening around you at the park. I cant see anyway to handle reduced capacity other than increase cost and for all of this I may just head somewhere else till they figure out how to treat this effectively. I honestly wonder if a vaccine is a reality. We've been trying to find one for the common cold for years and corona and rhino are the two causes. This will be a long haul. Good point though 👍

Of course they are. Either I'm not explaining what I mean or you are deliberately misunderstanding me. There is no way for a *guest* to prove they contacted Covid at a theme park. The workplace assumption wouldn't apply to them
You’re implying only guests matter, and ignoring the thousands of employees.

Also, “proof” is a legal sense just means convincing a jury it is 50.0000001% more likely a guest contracted it at Disney.

We are DVC members and have a trip booked Min June at the Beach Club. If 10% of the restrictions are real, then I cannot justify going. Masks alone are enough for me to cancel.
We booked our fast passes this past Saturday and was able to get most of the harder rides but things like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad were gone on a few of the days…never seen that before. So, we called DVC and found our that there at capacity. Reason being, everyone who had trips in March, April and May booked for June. If the resorts are at capacity and the restrictions are what we’re hearing then it’s going to be a disaster.
If Epcot is closed, then that takes a huge benefit out of staying at the Beach Club.
Were cancelling and with try and go next year if the restrictions are reasonable
The DVC aspect of this is one of the real concerns that hasn’t been addressed at all. I know Pete has been on them for any communication and it doesn’t seem like there’s much if any at all. Also BTMR was supposed to go on refurb so I’m guessing that’s why it’s out ?

Everyone is different. Just because you can accept some changes doesn't make you a fanatic.

Saying this from day 1. REcoup some losses, spread out people if they'd just open at 7 am or even 6 am. 9 am was too late for most of us anyway! We were up at 5 am in March just waiting......

If sunshine is a help, you're more likely to get hours that open no earlier than 1-2 hours after sunrise and close 1 hour before sunset...so limited hours...

I have 5 and 6 yr old grand girls. With about half of the hallmark Disney experience gone they could tell. Especially the little ones. I think I would get back home and wonder what I got for my $1000 a day. To each their own. I wouldnt imagine the rides would be worth it if they clean between them. Would take forever. Some maybe not even running. It's a value thing but like other folks have said to each their own. I dont see that experience keeping the Parks model afloat without charging $2000 a day for a heavily diminished experience. They're geniuses though. Maybe they have a plan that works. I think it's to keep it shuttered and use the debt they've raised to float to better times....fingers crossed for them and us.

Not sure if this has been posted, here's a recap of what the task force has come up with so far
https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020...om-todays-re-open-florida-task-force-meeting/Today's meeting is at 10am, I'm hoping @Spridell will be listening in?
News from IOA our entire staff for the screenings is getting tested for covid after our shift (not looking forward to it but thankful to have the chance to do it with no wait)
Southwest is shooting a social distancing video right now.
Gloomy rainy morning here in O-town today

I've been reading through all of these postings and finally decided to add two cents. My family and I have been going to WDW every two or three years for the last 18 years. When we aren't there, we are planning our next trip. We have a visit planned for the last week of July and first week of August and are holding out hope that the parks and resorts will be back open.

As for what modifications would be deal breakers - I can't think of any as long as rides, restaurants and pools are open. We would be fine with medical checks, modified queues, mobile ordering at quick service restaurants. We would even be fine without fireworks, parades and other large gathering-type activities. If they limit capacity, I'm fine with that as well.

What would cause us to reconsider:
1. If they only opened one or two parks
2. If many of the rides were closed
3. If pools were closed

I believe that with conscious social distancing rules in place, hand washing stations and tons of hand sanitizer (we carry our own) we would be fine.

I think that the best thing they could do is to reopen in July with medical checks at/near security checks, lowered capacity, social distancing set-ups in all queues, CM's whose job it is to walk around sanitizing all surfaces regularly, restaurant capacities lowered indoors and more outdoor dining areas to spread people out, hand-washing stations built throughout the parks and hand sanitizer everywhere.

why? why no mask?

OMG no I am not. I was soaking purely in terms of people saying Disney would be be facing lawsuits of people visited the parks and tested positive later. But whatever - y'all keep spinning my words however you want. I'm out of this conversation.

Ouch - someone mentioned rain above and got me thinking about times when it pours at WDW and folks all huddle somewhere to get away from being drenched. Hard to "social distance" at those times due to crowded shops. And if they are limiting entry into the shops - oh boy.

Pretty much a daily occurrence during some months.

Plus that's the kinda thing that might get overlooked in the planning as well.

I am to the point that I would be fine with masks, very few rides, but resorts and parks open. I keep thinking how wonderful it would be to just sit on a bench in Norway, watching the flowers, and maybe eating a kringla. Or resort hopping; I have been hyperventilating with my eyes closed and my Contemporary candle, just imagining being in the lobby, or waiting for a bus. Why? I have DVC points; I am not spending thousands of dollars. I have free flights from refunds that expire, and a companion pass. I just love BEING there. But I am a person who will go on 3 rides and be done, preferring to take in the small things... Which, according to my candle moments, is apparently reaching new levels of simplicity. 😂

Go if you can look for small happinesses, and if it will not break the bank, or risk a family member. If you want the full experience, it is likely you will need to wait two years. What is worth it to you? That's all that matters.
