Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Personally, I think the DO NOT STAND HERE stickers are stupid. They should have stuck with the STAND HERE stickers we have become conditioned to in the US.
In the video shown in this thread, where they had the tables set up they DID have "please stand here" stickers leading up to the tables (the red and white striped bars), and then immediately before every "do not stand" square, was another of the thin lines marked "please stand here". So they were basically training people, so to speak, to stand on either side of the giant "do not stand square".

Like I said, I'm only speaking of people not affected by the economy, who can afford to travel. Maybe WDW wasn't a destination they would normally think of, but if they can't travel out of country for whatever reason, maybe now WDW may be an option for them.

So again, not talking about people who can't afford to travel due to the economy. My original post was in reference to bookings being down by those who come from Europe. Maybe those bookings might be offset by the vice-versa situation.
Doubt it. No way could people who weren’t going to come to WDW anyway offset all of the foreign travelers.

One of the topics that I think bears more thought (not masks) is value for your dollar, its been touched on but not nearly examined enough. This modified experience is essentially like doubling the price of a park ticket when you consider all the takeaways.

I want to spend my money at Disney, that's why I have DVC, however no interactions, fireworks, parades have been replaced with avoiding people like they have the plague. Isn't that the mantra...assume everyone is infected? Its kind of a sad thought.

It’s like defensive driving.

I’m more worried about how much airfare will go up.

I’ll wait for a vaccine before going to the park for now.

So while you and I don’t agree on things I find you to be polite and reasonable. So no, you probably don’t need the stronger language and I appreciate that. But there are some less reasonable. And need things spelled out to the letter.
And enough with the living in fear BS. So tired of that dart being hurled at anyone advocating safe reopening. If it’s such an overreach why is every major sports league taking the unprecedented step of losing millions in revenue by opening with no fans? Let me get this straight. We can’t go to a baseball stadium to watch a game but we should just throw the doors open to an international destination without taking safety precautions and seeing they are followed?
The living in fear comment was made b/c a pp said this is what NOT living in fear looks like referring to the safety announcement being on loop. Constantly reminding ppl that they may be in danger, still seems like living in fear imo. It’s not the safety measures that we were discussing the “warnings”.

You know I'm interested in how this may relate to the Q2 call assertion that parks won't open until they'll have a net positive impact on operating income - do we think that part of the delay in opening is the calculation of how many existing reservations are local vs. foreign and whether or not local reservations are enough to have a net positive impact?

The casino about an hour and some change away from WDW is opening tomorrow night and this is what they sent out.

What caught my attention is the bullet about the AtmosAir system. I wonder if Disney could do something like that for indoor attractions.

Clean air is key. You know one thing I would really like to hear from Disney is that they’ve got some sort of HEPA like filtration system on ME...

The warnings are also a safety measure.

My point was they don't need the DO NOT STAND HERE stickers at all. They are confusing to people who are used to STAND HERE indicators, not the opposite of what they should be doing.

Less crowds for us then :D But also will make it harder for Disney to recover financially and give us more of the fun stuff...double-edged sword.
My family is willing to do our part to help lol, I have multiple trips booked, and as I always say I'll only cancel if Disney makes me. Of course my family is different, we can drive and will all have APs for our trips come this fall (depending on how things are looking obviously), and we don't care about the fireworks, parades, or M&G so we still feel like we're getting the same for our money as before. Just hope enough people still have the money and interest to go to keep the revenue stream at least limping

My family doesn't really care if we get to see parades, fireworks, or do M&G at all. I haven't seen Festival of Fantasy in probably 2 years, we've seen HEA enough times that I usually just ride rides while it's going on anyway, and we never meet characters so no big deal. It's still the same value for money for us, and I'm sure we aren't the only ones. Now, if some peoples predictions of no TS are true, and they have a ton of rides closed, then we have a problem. I already try to avoid people like the plague anyway, have you seen the kids wiping their snotty noses and coughing in to open air on the bus and touching EVERYTHING? I feel like I'm always trying to prevent illness when I'm there anyway, why stop now.

Disney Springs JUST reopened amid a pandemic. This kind of stuff should be expected.

In addition to protecting guests, they are protecting themselves so no one can come back and say that they weren’t aware of the risks.

The line for Chicken Guy is quite long and social distancing not being followed through much of the line. I am seeing lots of vulnerable pops, including elderly in walkers and morbidly obese. This is not going to work out well unless Disney institutes mobile ordering only for QS. I thought I read that is what they were going to do? Looks much better to go to TS and just get a text when your table is ready.

Disney will likely require mobile ordering at their own quick service locations. I’m not sure they can do that for anything third party owned ...

Let's talk about this over whether we SHOULD wear masks or whether people WILL wear masks or if those people should be dragged out kicking and screaming.

To me, even if it is "for safety", if Disney cuts their offerings and charging the same price, this doesn't seem fair. Though I am sure there are plenty that will still pay the prices (because the things cut aren't things they normally do), but that is the main reason I won't be going mid-June even if they are open: I suspect that a ton of things will be closed and things will be just that much more inconvenient for "safety".

I know they won't, but Disney would have to offer me essentially free tickets to the theme parks to keep my June (or even if I had a July one) resort vacation. I'll gladly pay my Disney resort price and deal with longer lines (for temp checks), closed attractions (even closed parks/restaurants) if I get in the parks for free for the days I am there. I will still spend a ton of money on food and souvenirs while I am there and would go a long way to boost people's confidence in coming back to the parks.

But heck, they may not need to do that. There may be tons of people lining up to pay "pre-March" prices for a more inconvenient, and restricted experience with one of the bonuses hopefully being WAY less crowds. And that's fine .. they have put a different value on different things. I just hope they don't come away disappointed, expecting a "near normal" Disney vacation and it is anything but.

That is why I am just waiting .. waiting to see if my reservation is just canceled and if not .. waiting to see how restrictive these safety measures are and how long they will be in place and if Disney offers any discounts/promotions to make up for it.

We all make value decisions when spending our money and there IS a tipping point of value, inconvenience, restrictions and price. It just may not be "worth" it to go to Disney for while (except maybe locals) until things are closer to normal (still some safety procedures, but everything running as it was).

What folks forget about when they say that they don't care if certain items aren't being offered is that those items take a LOT of folks out of the equation when you are trying to do the things that you DO still care about. For example, if you normally plan to skip a parade or fireworks show to enjoy rides with lower wait times you can forget about that. Now you are competing with everyone else because those items that would have occupied other park attendees are not there.
