Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I wonder if the opposite will happen eventually too - domestic travelers may not be able or will be nervous to travel outside US, so more Americans may choose WDW as a vacation spot in the future.
Lol! Yeah all the ppl who used to post how they can go to Europe for 20 days for same cost as a week at Pop night choose that week at Pop now. 😂

If things are going to open now not months down the road there’s going to be weird changes to deal with and accept. This is what not “living in fear” looks like.
Exactly. And one of the reasons for over messaging about rules is because when people break them they most often try to claim that they were unaware of the rule so they could not have been expected to follow it. It is in Disney’s interests to oversaturate people with opportunities to hear and read about the new rules to avoid that excuse especially at the beginning when all of it is new.

B/c it’s not necessary. Failure to adhere to any of their rules even pre-Covid has always had the potential to result in ejection. Things should be case by case. I don’t understand why ppl want threatening messages.

Signs like this in regards to the safety measures I'm ok with. Instead of cell phones change it to social distancing.

Virus will always be around. Cases rise with increased testing. But if you look at positivity compared to testing rate - often cases are going down, even though may seem to be rising. Case in point is Illinois.
:)
I know it will be around and I'm not living in fear. I know that to live with it we have to do social distancing. That includes Disney. It gets frustrating to see a few on here that keep thinking it's going away tomorrow and what they are doing is over the top. :(

The casino about an hour and some change away from WDW is opening tomorrow night and this is what they sent out.

What caught my attention is the bullet about the AtmosAir system. I wonder if Disney could do something like that for indoor attractions.

I'm just pointing out seeing a rise in positives isn't always what it seems. Most of time it means more testing being done (good thing) and actually shows that cases are decreasing.

Doesn't matter if people think it's going away tomorrow, Disney will do what they will do, people will go or not go.
:)

Living in fear would be staying home like we have been. Opening with these measures keeps everyone safe. With cases rising in many places means the virus is still around. You don't know who will be affected.

There's also a real difference between fear and concern. I think a lot of us are not afraid of getting sick ourselves, but are concerned about passing it to vulnerable friends/family. Don't be condescending and say people who are following guidelines when they go out are afraid, acknowledge it for what it is - concern for the wellbeing of others.

So while you and I don’t agree on things I find you to be polite and reasonable. So no, you probably don’t need the stronger language and I appreciate that. But there are some less reasonable. And need things spelled out to the letter.
And enough with the living in fear BS. So tired of that dart being hurled at anyone advocating safe reopening. If it’s such an overreach why is every major sports league taking the unprecedented step of losing millions in revenue by opening with no fans? Let me get this straight. We can’t go to a baseball stadium to watch a game but we should just throw the doors open to an international destination without taking safety precautions and seeing they are followed?

I agree with the guidelines and follow them when I go out. What I was getting at were the ones who don't think we should be doing anything and go about our lives.

I think there are things Disney could do to make these precautions feel more "magical" in the parks, like the "stand here"/"don't stand here" stickers being themed to the lands, or crafting some kind of surprise and delight entertainment around social distancing. They're going to be necessary, why not make them fun? That would certainly be the Disney Difference vs how the other park operators are likely thinking of safety.

And I thought they’d borrow tech from dog shock collars and put them in magic bands. If you get within 6 feet of another guest that’s not in your party, then you get a zap. This should work better than Starbucks to keep you awake. Of course, they can make the bands even more pretty, so that people will buy them.

Of course, I’d prefer lighted floors like during the Disco Disney days.

I'm talking about people here who were planning to travel to Europe, not those impacted by current economic situation. They may choose to vacation "at home" and Disney may not have been on the table before, maybe it will be now.
But they still might not be able to financially. There are also a lot of companies not wanting their employees to even travel out of state, much less to a crowded park in another part of the country. I could see people putting their trips on hold for a while and doing smaller, more local vacations in the time being, something easier to plan and less expensive.

Less crowds for us then :D But also will make it harder for Disney to recover financially and give us more of the fun stuff...double-edged sword.

Like I said, I'm only speaking of people not affected by the economy, who can afford to travel. Maybe WDW wasn't a destination they would normally think of, but if they can't travel out of country for whatever reason, maybe now WDW may be an option for them.

So again, not talking about people who can't afford to travel due to the economy. My original post was in reference to bookings being down by those who come from Europe. Maybe those bookings might be offset by the vice-versa situation.

One of the topics that I think bears more thought (not masks) is value for your dollar, its been touched on but not nearly examined enough. This modified experience is essentially like doubling the price of a park ticket when you consider all the takeaways.

I want to spend my money at Disney, that's why I have DVC, however no interactions, fireworks, parades have been replaced with avoiding people like they have the plague. Isn't that the mantra...assume everyone is infected? Its kind of a sad thought.
