Checking in Friday to BCV on points. We have a studio and a 1BR for an occupancy of 10. Our party is 7 adults and 3 children under 3yrs. My niece, who lives locally, wants to visit for the day and go to Stormalong Bay with us. I haven't been to Stormalong for years so I don't know the procedure for getting in, but I'm worried that they won't let her in. One of the adults in our original party is actually checking out that day, so could I use his magic band to scan my niece into the pool? Alternatively, I could take one of the children off the DVC reservation and substitute her name. I realize some people might see that as shady, but I'm not trying to cram her in or exceed the room occupancy as she is not spending the night. Any help appreciated.

Each room can have 1 child under 3 that does not count against the room cap. So technically she could be on a reservation and even stay if she wishes.

So I would add your niece to one of the reservations. Otherwise she will likely not be let into the pool area as anyone over 3 entering the pool area must be on a reservation

I've been a DVC owner for 35 years and have never had occasion to use this "trick". But my daughter now has a 2 year old and twin 6 month olds so it is coming in handy for this stay! By switching some people around on my reservation, I was actually able to add 3 extra adults so my nephew, his wife and my niece will all be able to join us for the day!

Sounds like got it covered. Have a studio & a one bedroom for the 10. (Guessing booked each room on a separate reservation?). BCV is 8 two bedroom dedicated & 9 two bedroom lock off. One child under 3 would boost to as high as 10.

If separate bookings. And at least 2 children are under 3..would book the studio at 5+1 and one bedroom 4+1 getting your total to 11 for having the niece on a reservation for the pool.

First item to my mind is if single reservations, isn’t the points more then if would have booked it as a two bedroom lockoff?

Either way, I’m sure if a party was leaving, front desk could replace with niece.

Yes 2 rooms booked separately. And yes, it is more points than a 2 BR unfortunately. But when I booked it my daughter was pregnant with twins so we weren't sure if she would want to come or not so I booked for flexibility.

Thanks! The only issue is now that we really would love to be adjoining but I know that likely will not happen. I’ll wait to check in and ask when we get there. And to complicate it, we are checking in on different days so not hopeful that they can fulfill my wish.

I’d still note it with MS now. Room may already be assigned but a request is nice to have (as they same..”not a guarantee”). For connecting (lockoff style) or as close to each other as possible.

For sure. Another reason booked separate. Makes total sense. Sending positive vibes for it to be fulfilled.
