I miss the old Tiki Room too but the new one isn't bad. I'm really disappointed with what was done to the boat ride in Mexico. Yes, the original was a little corny but putting the little cartoons in everything kind of ruined for me a little.
How much would it cost to replace the cars in the Tomorrowland Speedway with ones that looked like the characters in "Cars"? A minimal investment would make a big difference, and would anybody complain about the update?
I like both the old and new Tiki Room and Universe of Energy. Remember, Walt himself was a big fan of rehab/re-imagineering, unless you want to say Walt "ruined" Disneyland during his lifetime when he planned "NEW" Tommorrowland in the 1960s. Of course, I really miss the Flying Saucers and the Viewliner.
I'm glad someone mentioned the Dreamfinder! At one point, I remember entering a room and he would say "...and what about Science...Science...Science..." (some sort of cheesy echo effect). To this day I can't hear the word science without the Dreamfinder popping up in my head
Last time I was at Disney World was 1974 so I imagine a lot has changed. I'm taking the wife and kids who have never been there so I'm figuring I'll treat it as a new thing for me because in a way it is. I will miss 20,000 leagues and Mr. Toad but those are memories I have and I'm sure I'll have plenty of new ones to go with them after this trip
It's always a disapointment when an attraction we look forward to changes, even if it is for the better. Or in some cases bad- We all wanted Figment back and we got it but I sure would love to see the old ride back. I used to lookforward to the wait at Honey I shrunk the Audience- True Colors was my favorite preshow. I still visit both of these attractions but still think about how it used to be.
