Rude Behavior At Disney

At the WL pool we saw a mother tell her child-maybe 3 or 4 yr old- it was okay to go to the potty where they were. Doesn't the child squat down and poop right along the walk way. We moved, so I can't say if she ever cleaned it up, but who does that???

Dear God...I know this is not funny, but I am laughing out loud right now. Unbelieveable. I don't know what I would have done if I'd seen that. This year will be our son's first trip to WDW without diapers (just turned 3) and I can't imagine telling him just to go wherever he happens to feel like it. Who are these people?

Anyway, thank you for the laugh. :rotfl2:

I was talking about the scooters or ECVs. They are moving twice as fast as a walking person, especially a child. Those people need to be more mindful of walkers, not wheelchairs or strollers.

I beg to differ. Not everyone drives the scooter/ECV at top speed. Not that I haven't seen some real whackos on them at times. I have to use one because of my arthritis, I always dial mine down to a comfortable walking pace for my companions.

Why don't you try an experiment? I challenge you to spend a day on an ECV in one of the busier parks and still keep the same point of view. You'll find yourself starting/stopping all day long to let the mindless people who wander in front of you (or even into the side of your vehicle) go by.

I'd love to be able to walk like I used to. You should thank your lucky stars that you still can. :)

Last February we saw three young (teen) girls from a BTG do something horrible to a random young man. We were, if memory serves me, in France at Epcot and were behind the three BTG girls by about 30-40 feet, walking in the same direction. Ahead was a young boy (all we can say for sure was that he was not with their group and didn't seem to be with a BTG), perhaps three years or so younger than they were. He was drinking from a water fountain and didn't see them coming.

Two of the BTG girls jogged over to where he was, reached down and posed for a photo that the third girl took. The photo was of them squeezing his back-side, and if they didn't really do so, it sure looked like it from our view!

The poor kid realized at some point that they were there, spun around in both shock and helplessness, and looked like he was going to cry. The three idiots laughed and laughed, and scooted off, leaving him standing there in a daze. We saw the whole thing and it happened quickly. Of course, we didn't say anything to him, since he had already been humiliated enough.

I don't care what country you are from and what differences your culture has. That's simply dreadful behavior... :sad2:

Ok so I haven't read the 33 pages yet (oh but I will!) but here's a few from our trips:

We are just me and my husband however we do get to enjoy Disney just like everyone else... I do not stop children from standing in front of me at parades or any other such thing, if people just ASK... we had a spot right at the rope for the parade. I was sitting down and my husband was standing behind me. A family comes over with one of the double strollers COVERED with bags on the top (now I have no problems with the strollers, however they're for your kids, not your bags!)... so the parents are paying NO attention, the kids jump out of the stroller and the whole thing falls over and cracks me on the head! Do the parents notice? Noooo of course not... well not until my husband opened his mouth!

Flashes in the dark rides drive me CRAZY. It completely ruins the effect and especially if you just keep taking pictures... I mean really how many times must you take a picture of the SAME thing... you used the flash, I'm sure it came out!

And the best one on this trip had to be we were waiting for a bus to Downtown. Apparently it had taken a while to come and there were a ton of people waiting for the bus. My husband and I were second in line behind a family with what we saw as a dad and two kids. There was a wheelchair on the bus so the drive let all the people off and closed the front doors to unload the wheelchair out the back... well apparently the mom sneaked in the back door at some point and had seats for them on the bus. The dad got so mad when they closed the front door he was saying some very unmagical things and punched the bus or the post (not sure which!). So their is this young girl in a power chair they are getting on the lift... well the lift won't lower all the way... so they try a few times and then take the girl out and keep trying with the chair. Another bus pulls up for Downtown and this family screams to the woman already in the bus and run and push their way onto the second bus. The woman on the first bus literally pushes the front doors of the bus open and goes to join them. By now their is one other family and my husband and I waiting for the bus. The dad from the other family and my husband along with the man with the girl in the wheelchair lift the chair out of the bus (since the girl was out of it). So we all get on the bus and go to DTD after this little fiasco. The family who lifted the power chair down with my husband had two kids as well. Wonder who taught their kids the better lesson?! The kicker? We passed Mr. Grumpy Gills (as we nicknamed him) walking in DTD... their bus must not have gotten their long before ours because I don't walk THAT fast and we sailed past him going away from the bus stop!

Buses are one of the big reasons I do not try to go without my wheelchair at WDW. I can't stand for any length of time without pain and I certainly can't stand for a bus ride. It is just safer for me to take the wheelchair.

After a second both of them get up and walk away leaving the wheelchair in the bushes.
One of my BIGGEST pet peeves about the world. It's like a normal person parking in the handicapped place. I know there are some cases where it's needed, but come on, if your not paralyzed, or not in the hospital, and you can get thrown into the bushes and walk away fine, you don't need one.

I saw more rudeness in the way of people abusing the handycapped powers, but that was about it. I was ready to push people out of their chairs and scooters and see who was faking (not serious, I'm joking). It was getting really excessive, lol!!! Some people you could see really were, but some were jumping in out, running, etc. I didn't get it.

I did see 1 child jumping on tables, but I didn't think much of it because the mother acted quickly and gave him a spanking:thumbsup2

(I'm not trying to offend anyone. I know some people have hidden disabilities. And honestly if you find yourself offended please just don't respond, and we'll agree to disagree :) )

WDW is not the best place for those. They are VERY hard to make room for. I have been tripped once because the person was there at opening and was trying to move forward. It's not like I wasn't trying to move, but there was nowhere to move to!

It really depends on the person driving, whether he/she is impatient and the person near the ECV, whether he/she dosn't notice or dosnt care. In my experience they haven't been a problem, because I tend to move out of the way, but on crowded days it's awful for everyone!

Wow, wow, wow. Lots of rude words and snippy statements.

I read these comments every few pages... not all of them mind you. But am shocked the bus debate is still going on. I wanted to comment on it but didn't thinking maybe it was finally dying out and not wanting to drudge it up again.... but since it is still going on ~ I will through out my 2 cents FWIW.

Bus: If there is a line and you aren't in the line ~ you are NOT the line leader. And really ~ the only issue should be when there is a lot of people waiting around otherwise everyone is getting on the bus and WHAT difference does it make what order? If you want a seat on the bus and it looks like it is going to be full ~ give up your seat at the bus stop so that you can get one for the ride. Please... there are at least 6 different buses (maybe 7?) how the heck do I know what one you are waiting for. Also FWIW ~ I am a bench sitter and typically wait for everyone to get on before I do.

ECV/Runners/Walkers/Crawlers ~ I don't really care how you get around the park..... be mindful that there are other people around you who don't want to be elbowed, pushed, shoved, run over or otherwise touched by you. IF you hit, elbow, push, shove, run over or otherwise touch another person for GOD'S Sake say "Excuse me!" my 3.5 year old knows to do this... why don't adults???

Rules ~ the rules are there for everyone. Yes ~ even YOU! If the sign says no flash photography ~ yes it is directed at YOU. If the CM says move all the way to the end of the row ~ rest assured they are talking to YOU ~ and if you didn't want to sit at the end ~ maybe you shouldn't have thrown me an elbow to get in front of me and my family and enter the theater first. If you child doesn't meet a height requirement... they don't ride.

Kids ~ your kids are YOUR responsibility ~ you choose to have them ~ you choose to have them on vacation with you. Make them follow the rules of "Disney" and society. Teach them to say excuse me or sorry, that not everything is theirs for the taking. Know your child before you go and plan your trip around what they can handle ~ my children are not allowed to have full on meltdowns in the middle of crowd ruining everyones good time ~ I don't want to hear your kid screaming bloody murder while you look straight ahead pretending like you don't hear it. Get out of line ~ deal with the issue ~ reacess and see if maybe your family needs a break.

I don't understand why people in crowds or on vacation or I don't know what the reason ~ feel like all of a sudden all things in the real world that would be considered the right thing to do fly out the window???

I have lurked here for a very long time; but this has compelled me applaud the poster. Suellen, you have hit every nail right on the head!:thumbsup2

WOW!!! amazing post! Very unbiased and true!:thumbsup2

I tend not to care about rudeness in most cases, I see it as we all have our rude moments, if someone uses flash in a ride I don't care (there are some rides where I do care like the HM or Pirates), and if you elbow me just say sorry and move on.

Some people forget the golden rule: Treat others the way you would want to be treated.

My husband has to be classified as the worst wheelchair pusher when he pushes me in my manual wheelchair. When he's in a hurry, or he gets excited about something he tends to not pay attention to what he's doing when he's pushing me in my wheelchair. He has mild right-sided hemiplegia cerebral palsy, ADHD, functional mental disabilities, and some learning difficulties.

I use a wheelchair because of severe scoliosis, knee problems (which is the newest issue that I'm dealing with this year after a very bad fall in the garage of our house) and osteoarthritis. I can walk for short distances with a walker, but rely on my manual and power wheelchairs for longer distances.

Three years ago, we were at EPCOT hurrying to meet up with my mom at the Journey into Imagination With Figment ride. It was the last ride we were going to do before leaving the park to go to dinner at Boma, my mom's favorite restaurant. Anyway, Dan kept ramming into people with me apologizing for both of us since I have angle-adjustable footrests on my manual wheelchair. It really hurts a lot if you get hit really hard with them.
I have the same footrests on my power chair, and have rammed both of my shinbones several times when trying to move my power chair after getting stuck and trying to get it unstuck while standing. So, I know how it feels when you get hit really hard with them.

The worst one was when Dan ran over a little boy about two or three when we were almost at the Figment ride. The mother looked like she wanted to scream at both of us. I felt bad for the little boy, but totally lost it with Dan. I got up slowly out of my wheelchair, turned to Dan and said, "Dear, I'm walking the rest of the way! You can't seem to watch out for people and be considerate of them, so I'm controlling my manual wheelchair from now on!"

Dan shot back that it was their fault for not moving out of the way when they saw us coming at a fast pace like that. I wound up pushing my manual wheelchair until we met up with my mom, and my godfather and forbade Dan to push me for the rest of the night. I let my mom and godfather do it when I got tired of walking.

This is why I'm hoping to rent a folding power chair from home to take on our next trip to Disney World.

1. Friends and I were waiting in line at DHS to go back to CSR. We were 2nd in line behind an empty ECV. The bus came and the doors open, driver hopped off. We looked around waited for a few moments and no one was coming for the scooter, so we walked around it (followed by the rest of the line) and headed towards the bus. Then we saw a couple sitting on a nearby bench realize that their bus was there and run over and tell us how rude it was to go around their scooter, blah blah. I'm sorry but if you're going to use your scooter to hold a place in line for you then you should at least pay attention to when the bus is coming and not hold up the line.

2. In line for Splash on the same trip we saw a man with a little girl wearing a shirt that said "I'M NOT A GYNECOLOGIST BUT I'LL TAKE A LOOK!" I'm not even joking. We even took a picture of him because we knew no one would believe us when we told them!!

That is so disgusting, yet I am dying laughing! I would have taken a picture too. I bet he was a looker:rotfl: !

Speaking of the flash photography. We were in Pirates and the woman sitting in front of us took pictures all the way through. At one point she pressed the button as I turned my head her way...We got the flash right in our eye. She wasn't the only one either. It does take away from the ride. I say buy a postcard...

Here's something that happened last night at 12:30 a.m Guests next door arriving, emptying their suitcases, talking loudly, kids talking loudly, suitcases and drawers banging. They may be wide awake, but the couple staying next door were trying to sleep.

Not to say that your service didn't suck. BUT as I have been saying (and no one here beleives) I was told by a CM if you get the kid a Plate of their own ~ at a buffet ~ you pay for the child ~ no matter the age. Doesn't sound like they should have charged you for four though only three.

There is nothing I have more than sucky service.

Yes the only issue with that is you are allowed to get as many plates as you want. Which means I can have 10 in front of me if I want and a child can share off any off them.

I was in the pool at fort wilderness with a pal and since the pool was empty we were playing with a sponge football. Theres one lady sunbathing quite close to the pool and I threw the ball into the water and I accidently splashed this woman. Horrified I got out of the pool and said " I'm very sorry I really didn't mean to " to which she spring the `F` word out and told me to " F off Brit " I really couldn't believe she'd say something like that to a couple of 13 year olds :confused3 We just let it go as I hate starting trouble at WDW

hackettdude,if I was your mother,I would be so proud of you for geting out of the pool and apologizing,no mater what the other lady said!!:thumbsup2

Ok.. after two strong warnings, a bunch of deleted posts and a whole disproportionate amount of moderator time.. the petty arguments continue.
