Renovations are planned for RPR to begin June 29th and be complete by December.

That's great news!!! I wonder what the new plans looks like.

The new manager is pretty excited about the renovations. He said that 2 rooms are done and wants to give me the 25 cent tour next time we are up. I can try to take digital photos and post them but I'm computer challenged.:crazy2: They will get flat screens:happytv: early next year.

Exellent news! Personally, I do hope they brighten the rooms up a bit. The maroon/burgandy color was looking rather worn. When we last were there, they had replaced the dark comforters with a neutral beigy/yellow comforter. That helped brighten the room a bit.

And, they totally need the flat screens at the RPR. That TV now takes up just about the entire dresser. Between the coffee maker, the ice bucket, and the TV, that dresser has absolutely no room.

tell the dude what jodie said up above me.
the one thing about rph that wasn't my cup of tea is what she said.

get rid of that burgandy, and plasitc "wood" piece by the sink....brighten up the rooms with lighter colors and yea, tv change time..........
it does take up the dresser too much.

congrats on getting the tour.
tell whoever gives the tour that the homies want different color scheme this time around in the rooms..........jk

Thank you. I wanted to say that too, but didn't know how. It's clear that "wood" thingie is very hard to dust. You can tell they are dusty, but when you swipe your finger over it, the dust doesn't come off easy. Makes the room look old and tired, IMHO. I hope they put something new there too. I hope they don't do away with the Island look completely, but they need to make things a bit more functional and with lighter, brighter colors, perhaps the rooms won't feel as small. I know Mike and I always feel like we're stepping over each other in that room, and there are just the 2 of us. I honestly don't know how families of 5 stay in there, unless they are there just to sleep and never get ready to go out at the same time.

During the hurricane we had the 4 of us, 2 dogs and everything we owned! I still get ready at the fitness locker room even if I go alone.

wow motherfletcher that is a lot to put in that room

it has to be the color decor and the plastic pretend wall extension that dwarfs the room size.

and the larger furniture/ chair in particular.

i shouldn't compare rph to hrh but what the heck, i will.

at hrh, the close goes from the door you enter in all the way thru the foyer to the fridge bar. the entire wall is closet with slider glass doors. that opens up the room a lot.
the closet at rph was fine for one person. i put my 2 suitcases in there and they fit fine on the floor. rack space less but the shelf on the top was practical for me. i was there solo so it was enough room for me and all the stuff i hauled around.......4 bags/suitcases......i'm a girl, what can i say

Motherfletcher, you didn't waste any time getting to know the new GM!!!

Thanks for the info.Just when I finally decided to stay at HRH for the 1st time for 5 nights,I get newly renovated rooms at RPR (love it!!)dangled in front of me.I really love newly renovated rooms. I now HRH is newly renovated but RPR will be even newer. I see a split stay in my future.:)

Yeah, I had to let him know that myself and others had some service concerns. He sounds committed to get the resort back on track in no time which is good news for me and a lot of others on these boards who list RPR as a favorite. I wish him luck in the transition.

Wow! But see, that's an emergency, not a vacation! Two completely different things in "Jodie's Rules of Vacation: The Handbook." :)

P.S. Thanks for taking the lead in taking our concerns to Dave! Let's hope for the best. :)

Yeah, it was no vacation at all! I remember sitting in the lobby talking to a neighbor kid on the phone. He said he didn't know if our house was OK because all of our trees were down and he couldn't see the house.:scared1:

Not on my floor they won't;) ; do hope construction noise will be kept to a minimum and they close off a section @ a time; only opportunity we get to sleep in past 6:30 a.m. on Orlando vacations is when we're @ Universal...another benfit of the FOTL perc that entices DH to vist.

Notice you don't mention a pool rehabpopcorn:: ; really looking forward to lounging there.

Hmmm.... We will be at RPR from Oct 1-5. I am wondering if it would be smart to switch our ressies to another resort??? Thoughts?

I stayed at PBH and Loews Miami when they were renovating and didn't even know it was going on.

i'll keep my ressie for the hrh this october since they are done with rennovations there.

let us know how the revamping of rph turns out and i might try that place next year.

Glad we're checking in the 26th.....

we were planning on going in early Dec (and i mean early).....maybe we'll push it off a week to see the new renovation..... :scratchin

You would think by December they would have all the jack hammer/heavy construction complete. Unless they are using our road construction contractor who would start the job and leave it tore up until the middle of December before he mobilizes.

Does anyone know if it's just the rooms being redone or will it be public areas also? If it's just the rooms I would hope the noise/disruption should be minimal. We'll be going Sept. 12-16. This is low season so I'm guessing once the summer crowds leave, constructions crews will be full steam ahead. I wonder if this will be a good excuse to try HRH?
