Has anybody gone to the Luau at the Royal Pacific?

We're thinking of going to a Luau. Heard a little bit about the Seaworld one, but nothing about the Royal's.

How was the Entertainment, Food etc?

Yes, good question I'd like to hear more on this myself. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

We did it in February. Here are some parts of our trip report (it's on the Universal trip reports board under "mid-winter break from reality"):

The fourth night we did the Luau at the Royal Pacific, which was just ok. The show was really long (I mean, how many different hulas can three women do?!?), but one of the boys in our group refused to leave until he saw the fire eating guy (who actually never did the fire eating part). My 5 year old fell asleep during this dinner, also.

The food was good at the Luau. We were just really wiped out that night and that could have influenced our opinion of the show. They seat you at tables for 10 and we had 8 in our group that evening, so they added two people to our table who didn't speak english, so that was a little uncomfortable as well. We had the discount voucher from the Clearchannel offer, which made it a little better price wise. Also, they promote it as including drinks, but they don't have a bar. The waitress brought us our first round and then disappeared, so it was difficult to get refills. Also, the maitais were fruit punch (no liquor in them at all). I'm glad we did it, but wouldn't do it again. It was a relaxing night. Also, if you're not at the Royal Pacific, you either need to drive over or take the water taxi to CityWalk and transfer to the Royal Pacific watertaxi. We opted to drive.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I agree about how long the Wantilan Luau is. We were there Saturday Feb 26th after a cruise. We enjoyed the food, but found the dances very repetitive. In fact we bailed before the end of the luau and went to Mardi Gras to catch beads (didn't see the AP section until after the parade). We also used a clear channel certificate so only paid $50 for the two of us. We struck up conversation with some people at our table. Seating is first come, first serve, and even tho we arrived before the luau beginning had seats far away from the stage.

I've been looking for the Clear Channel certificates Since around January~~~~~~No luck :guilty: . I wouldn't feel so bad if I got a deal then left after eating.

This will be our last night and thought the kids (11,14,16).might get a kick out of seeing the dancers, fire eaters, etc. I wonder if this is worth it or if my kids will think it's corny? Maybe we should just hang out at UO & IOA for our last hours?

Thanks

We did this last year with DD's 7 & 8.
We were staying at the RPR just for the one night and had booked in advance.
Our Overall experience was very good, Our waitress was brilliant and constantly kept our glasses full.
We had seats right at the front centre stage which was brilliant especially with the girls, I don't know how well they would have seen if we had been further back.
Food, so, so, Like most of these buffets I never expect great things, so I don't get to dissapointed, but then we can be pleasently surprized.
They had the general kids stuff, mac cheese, pizza, pb and j sandwiches, hot dogs, My kids just went for the pizza and didn't really eat much of that,
We had salads, a fish dish, suckling pig ( could have eaten that all night IMO was the bestpart of the meal, I know there were lot's of other stuff, but cant remember.
Then there was a dessert table with a selection of yummy things.
The show in my opnion was very good, a bit of everything, dancing comedy, history ,and audience partcipation, which had us crying in our seats.
We had a mum and her little girl sat with us and seeing the girls were the same age they all got on well and we had a nice chat with mum.
The girls were very into Lilo and stich so were very taken with the dancing and the costumes :teeth: I think they half expected to see stich( well they dont understand the politics regarding Disney/universal :rotfl: )
But we did this show as I heard this was the better one to do.
Anyway we all had a lovely time, I don't know what would have happened if it started to rain, wether they cancel or move inside?
Would We do it again, probably not i think once you've seen it you've seen it, but yes I do think it's worth doing it once.
Hope this helps and whatever you decide to do have fun
