Maddie,

I have a few ideas for the interim...maybe we could add a little extra fabric into the area to prevent continual rippage (is that even a word???) until the whole seat thing can get resolved...that would at least allow other swappers to keep using stroller #1. What type of material (color, size, etc.) are we talking about? I am not a great seamstress, but I can probably sew in a little extra fabric at the seam to make it last (as I am supposed to be using it in lieu of mrsdennison stroller sitting, unless of course #5 is in better shape when I get there.)
Just let me know how you want me to proceed and which stroller you'd like me to use while I'm there!

I was thinking the same thing. However I think that if you could cover the whole seat bottom it would be better. Then you do not have 2 seams close to the tear. I was thinking Denim. You can get it in an array of colours and it is a strong durable material. The only issue is that you will need a denim needle and stronger thread. Both of these can be purchased at a fabric store.

I wish that I could see the stroller and get the dimensions but this model is not avalible in Canada. If I could I could get my Mom to make covers to go over the seats as she is a seamstress and has all the equipment in her basement.

Maddi if you do have an old seat or stroller that you could take pictures of and /or send measurements???? Or both!!! I could see what I could do.

Do not even think of shipping it here because you will croak at the international charges:sad2::sad2:

Okay...I must be crazy but Sears carries them here.(The newer model it looks like) I am going to hop in my car and head up and see if they have one in stock. I will try to get all the info. that I need but if they have one and I need to I will buy it make a proto type of the seat and then return it.

Maddi are the seats very different between the 2 model numbers??

Wish me luck!!!!!:goodvibes

THese strollers are so great overall, that this seat thing is a total bmer. Guess that is just stating the obvious. I still have the old seat that I took off #2. SO if I need to send it to someone, or even back to INSTEP, just let me know Parkers*momma.
They are identical to the ones described in the new tears. I forget who it was that did the sew job, but it was great and seemed to work better than the original seam. The fabric is tearing because the seam is not deep enough. You can see the fabric pulled, the length of the tear, and where it is on the seat. I am usually pretty good at tech stuff, but cant figure out how to post the pics. If I get some suggestions. i will post the pics. I have already taken some.

Good luck guys.

Also, for the handle...instead of the pipe insulation and duct tape method...what do you think about a steering wheel cover like you buy at Wal-Mart? I saw them last night and thought, maybe this would look nicer...you would just have to cut it (so it wasn't a circle) and slide it on. I would still need to use the duct tape at the ends to fasten it, but I just thought it might look more like the original stuff and more comfortable as well...any thoughts on that?

Just let me know how you want me to proceed and which stroller you'd like me to use while I'm there!

GREAT IDEAS. I would have never thought of a steering wheel cover. Excellant idea!

#1, #2, and #5...whatever you think will work. to get us through this bump. I know one of the other swappers had sewn the seat of a stroller and it seemed to last until the new seat arrived.

Please if you don't mind in your down time during your trip, I sincerely appreciate any help you can share with the swap.

WOW you are totally awesome!

Yes the seats are different on #1 and #2 vs #3, #4, and #5. I'll see what I can come up with on measurements...if nothing else, I'll ask INSTEP.

THANKS for keeping it. As soon as I talk to them tomorrow, I will let you know the game plan we have come up with.

Okay....so I am back ( 4hrs and 3 sears , 4 toys r us and 3 Bay stores later) and none of them had a double in stock:sad2::sad2:. They had singles but no doubles. I also have a feeling that the model they carry here is different than the one in the U.S. The backs of the seats of the single here had no backboard in it. It was just cloth around a frame with the adjusting tie in the back so the seat could stay up or recline. The restraining straps were also sewn right onto the seat cover.
I can order a double from Sears but the lady told me they are back ordered and would not be here for 4-5 weeks

Any information on specks and measurements would be helpful. Pictures would be awesome. Even if something can be made to go just on the bottom of the seats that would help reinforce what is already there.
Sorry to keep this short but there are severe thunderstoms going thru here and I need to shut this machine down. I'll be back when they are finished.
:goodvibes;):)

Picked up #1 earlier today. At first, my wife and I thought that we could get by using the stroller if we simply put some duct tape (yeah, I know) on the seat bottom around the seam. It may at least prolong the seats usage.

After looking at it a bit further, we decided that we'd rather not risk using it and spending a portion of our day in the park searching for an alternative or fix, should something continue to go wrong.

We brought a single from home for use with our 7mo old DS throughout the rest of our vacation. We're going to use it in the park and then rent a single for our 4yr old DD. We were trying to get around pushing and keeping up with two strollers... c'est la vie.

I have the stroller and the accessories and will leave them for MRSDENNISON @ POP when we depart on Tuesday.

This is so sad...sorry to hear about the problems and the stress it must be causing. Hopefully you got a better deal renting one than what Disney offers. YIKES!!

I'm trying not to be discouraged but can't help but being so. We're LAST on #2 and it's hard keeping the faith that it's still going to be up and running come December. But - I'm trying hard to have faith!!!! princess:

Thanks to all of you who are being so creative and helpful in getting them fixed or up to par. It's nice to see so many pitching in to help one another! :wizard:

Here is a link to Insteps website with a pics of Model 11-AR345. I searched their website for Model 11-AR340B and it comes up as non-existent!!! Maybe that is our problem!!! They aren't sending us the correct replacement seats to begin with???:confused3

Anywho...thought you might be able to find the specs you needed off their website...???

Good Luck!:thumbsup2

With #1 out of commission and no word on #5 (joannem are you out there??? how's it holding up???), not sure what I should do...we leave in 2 days!!! If someone can help me out with how to sew a cover for the seat for #1, I have a sewing machine waiting anxiously here and I can run to the fabric store...:rolleyes1

Thanks everyone!!!:grouphug:

P.S. I am NOT freaking out yet...I have faith that we will figure this out. Besides DD6 who came down with 101 temp on Saturday plus bellyache and sore throat, seems remarkably better today and I lived through that!!!

#1, #2, and #5...whatever you think will work. to get us through this bump.

Hi Maddie,

Not to add to the confusion, but I think my sister, mrsdennison, is picking up #1 and #4, and I know I am picking up #5. Just so no one reads and gets confused! :lovestruc

Good Morning.....

I just wanted to let you all know that I did receive the replacement seat for #2 this weekend! :woohoo: If any of you can think of a way for us to reinforce the seat before we put it on there....please let me know! I hate to even think that we are going to put the new seat on and it might need replaced again in a month! :headache: I would love nothing more than to see all of the strollers make it to the end of the swap....this is an amzaing help to so many people.

WE LEAVE THURSDAY FOR DISNEY!!!:cool1::yay::cloud9::cheer2: I cannot wait to see my sweet kids faces when they find out Mommy and Daddy have planned a *surprise* trip for them....their excitement will most likely move me to tears! :lovestruc

Hope each of you have a very blessed day! :flower3:

Is there any way you can download a picture of the seat!!!! (Front, back and side views)
And with it can you put measurements.
Can you get another piece of material(Something strong and durable) and sew it the bottom of the seat and up the back and sides therefore reinforcing it before any weight even hits it.
Is there a model # on the seat that we can verify that it is the proper seat for the stroller???

I work evenings (4-11) all this week but will be on line during the days and late nights.

THe reason you can't find it, this stroller is only available to Burlington Coat Factory. Here's a link to the site/stroller:

http://www.burlingtoncoatfactory.co..._Id=479279&sku1=k_s1_77425142&is_baby_depot=1

Now, I'm off to call them.

Ladies, you are going to like this, sort of...:)

We have two new seats coming for #1 and #2...which means we will have a back up. BUT they won't be shipped until tomorrow so they won't get here until Friday at the earliest. If they get here on Fridsay (crossing fingers) I can ship them down by UPS on Monday but they probably won't get to a swapper until Friday-the earliest.

She recommended using iron patches to re-inforce the area that seems to be causing the problem. They would have to be large ones...but I can going to try finding some huge ones and ironing them onto the underneath part of the seat that is pulling apart.

#5 seats aren't in but she recommended calling every couple of weeks as they really never know when they are going to come in until they are in. We can order one, pay for it now, and it will be shipped out the minute they come in OR just keep calling back.

Her are her exact words on the seat issues when I asked about a manufacture flaw. The strollers themselves are fine but time to time they have a batch where the material isn't catching properly at the spot where the three materials come together. So where the light blue, dark blue and lime green meet if the seam isn't caught deep enough, the pull when a child is set in it will cause the small seam to pull and fray out.

This is exactly what is happening. NOW, here is the scoop. The seats on #1 and #2 have to be mailed back so I do need two stroller seats to mail back to INSTEP so they can investigate the batch---always works speaking to higher ups...KWIM?

And yes, these are the exact seats that are used in the construction of new strollers.

I spoke to her about the broken backboards. Two of the most common reasons are A) when a child is strapped in, they are possibly pulling on the shoulder straps. This would be larger children. When they are pushing back on the backboard and pulling on the straps it can damage the backboards. OR B) the strollers seats are not being put into the upright position before the stroller is being closed up. So please everyone make sure that the seats are in the upright position before closing the stroller to get on the bus/putting them in the car, or getting on the bus. When the backboards are broke, those aren't covered by the warrenty (tho, we did get one that way :) )

Anyway...we will have to get a donation of the new seat for #5. PLEASE THOSE IN #5, if you would like to donate the seat...Please call INSTEP about two weeks before your trip as it will take this long for it to get in.

SO we have #2 being repaired by Mousermom09 when she gets there. A new seat will be arriving this week for #1--SO MRSDENNISON/ARTIST IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN INSTALLING THE NEW SEAT, I WILL SHIP IT TO YOU ...JUST LET ME KNOW. PLUS WE WILL HAVE A BACK UP FOR STROLLER #1 or #2 whichever one needs it first...hopefully none.

:thumbsup2Good detective work! A little persuasion goes a long way!

Ok, I called INSTEP back with a streeeeeetched truth...Forgive me, if I offend anyone with a STREEEEEEETCHED TRUTH.

I explained that the strollers were going to be used for an upcoming trip which we (OK...Mrsdennison) were leaving a week from today for Disney and really need the strollers then. I explained with the Holiday, I was concerned that the seats wouldn't get here in time, so they are going to express ship them and I should have them by Wednesday.

Sorry but I really want to get swap#1 up and running. I'll pay to ship it there on Wednesday so MRSDENNISON, you should have a seat waiting for you when you get there or within a day or two. I WON'T HAVE TIME TO GET AN IRON ON PATCH so if you could/want to donate and iron one on the bottom of the stroller before you install the seat, that would be AWESOME.

Mousermom09...be sure to check on the sunshade for when you get there too. It's shipped and hopefully will be there when you get there or shortly thereafter. COULD YOU PLEASE DO THE SAME WITH THE IRON ON PATCH BEFORE YOU INSTALL IT. I know you have already donated a seat--I sincerely appreciate it---but if it isn't to much of a hassle, could you do the patch also? Just to reinforce the seat seam.

PHEWWWWW another problem resolved!
