Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

Oh yeah, I get it zelly. I signed up for my 15k before I sniffed 8k. Kinda samesies?
TBH, if Dopey was in Chicago, I'd probably have already signed up (CRAZY!) but it's the whole WDW thing that makes it a bit trickier to campaign for.

Not too much to post on the running front that is as exciting as 20 mile or -20 degree runs I see others doing. I'm still being an indoor warm person. I do have a date with the treadmill tonight though (I could wait until tomorrow, but I'm feeling motivated and in this weather...go with the motivation right?), so I'm thinking a solid 4 miles easy-ish sounds good. Haven't decided what to watch yet.
I fit into my skinny jeggings last night for my date night at the Blackhawks game. And sitting in them was comfortable, so maybe I haven't gained as much weight as my brain is making me think I have. I think my mind is playing tricks on me. Which is annoying. In my head I've gained everything back...I totally haven't.

I've been googling races up a storm for next year and my notebook looks like a crazy person's. With highlights and lines and different colors. So stay tuned for that (which I've been saying for a few weeks now)

Hubby took his first swim coach private lesson this weekend and LOVED it. He's self taught and never took formal training even though he's now a tri-vet. The coach was impressed by his base layer of what he was doing, but made a bunch of tweaks and they talked almost as much (probably more) than swimming. His work gives him a wellness stipend every year (yay, paid for bunch of registrations last year!) and so I think he's gonna do more coaching this year with it. He's gearing up for his first FULL Tri (he's only done the different sprint, short course, I don't even know all the names) Proud of him. And that's what puts the largest crinkle in figuring out what I want to do...we want to be helpful to each other (push each other, but not schedule things on the same day)

Ok, I promised pics.

1) I GOT A MICKEY WAFFLE MAKER from my in-laws (well my kiddo did, but let's be honest, I've stolen it since she's not allowed to burn herself) She did help me mix the batter.

Mickey Waffles bring Pure Joy!
Still can't get over the fact I have dark hair now. I like it, but it still surprises me not to see my natural auburn (and so much gray!)

dec3.jpg
I'd love to say that is portion control...but that's all the was left after I was eating my eggs and bacon while making waffles for everyone else. Let's pretend that is all I ate.
2) Hubby got new Brooks Beasts from his parents. I helped espionage his size and "wants" and he loves them. I guess Brooks was giving away free shirts on Black Friday or Cyber Monday and his mom got this one since Chris' size was out. Merry xmas to me! It might be my new favorite long sleeve. Sorry for the terrible selfie...so blurry...I was sneak attacked by a hallway monster.

this pic is clearer...Ain't it the best shirt????
dec5.jpg
I need Expedition Everest challenge to come back just to wear this.
3) My sis knows me TOO well. Check out this shirt!
dec6.jpg
Now try getting that song out of your head today. Chi Chi Chi Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers!
4) Finally, I'm so behind in Tsum Tsum advent calendar pics. So you'll just have to guess what days all of these were opened up. Today kiddo got the best little Goofy with an xmas tree on it's head. But she wouldn't let me take a pic. She was playing with it...GEEZ!!!

Awesome gifts!! The Mickey waffle maker is perfect. Your kiddo's expression is priceless. Love the winter tech shirt too. So cute.

And, clearly you need to have a conversation with your daughter about sacrificing her play time so that your anonymous friends on the internet can enjoy your advent tsum tsums vicariously. Seriously. Kids these days. :sad2:

SERIOUSLY!! hahaha

Donald doesn't seem convinced it's a good idea and I'm not sure I should trust that badger. Just sayin' :)
Mickey though is always hard to say no to.

See, I thought I would make all the little Tink emojis dissappear by signing up for Tink. What really happened is that I taught you all that emoji persuasion worked. D'oh

But for serious:
I convinced hubby that doing a solo trip to Tink (which turned into a sister trip) was do-able. And then I've somehow convinced him that since we are going to WDW during Halloween time that maybe he should just run that W&D 10k. We still haven't decided if we'd be staying through the half marathon that weekend or going home the evening of the 10k. Sooo at most I may just be Jingle Jungling even though I'd only be ONE day away from the Coast 2 Coast. So there's still a lot to think about before 1/17 registration date for W&D (ugh, why sooo soooon!) I'm not going to make him fly home with our kiddo by himself so I can run one more race. So we still have to figure out if we want to spend the $$$ to add days or not. So much to think about.
SOOOOOO signing up for a Dopey that takes place next Jan seems like pushing it for me (in terms of asking to go to disney again so soon.)
BUT don't count me out for it at some point or a Mickey at some point. And feel free to drop emoji's whenever you want until it sells out. haha

But I'm thinking I need to conquer my first half before I start deciding when my first 26.2 will be. :) But I'd love it to be with the mouse.

So now...PICTURES OF THINGS!!!

TBC in next post.

Always trust the badger!!!!

So jealous! I was two seconds away from buying that Brooks shirt, but family was waiting for me in the car so I left it. Great shirt!

In badger we trust. We should turn that into a bumper sticker. And yeah I wanted the shirt really bad so it was a fluke I actually got one!

You already know when your first full will be. You just don't want to admit you're Dopey yet. :)

What race is he doing?

What race is he doing?
He knows he is doing at least two short races. The Naperville sprint and the North Shore Tri, both in Illinois. And he's narrowing down which one he wants to do that is either 10k or longer run. I always get mixed up with the Olympic vs Short vs Long? He doesn't want to do Chicago this year because of how insane it gets with crowding.
His goal for maybe 2018 is the IronMan 70.3 race in Benton Harbor, MI which is a late summer race. We go to that area every August for family lake vacation. That's like a "half" right? My gut says he'll go for it next year.

I love that there are colors involved in your race schedule for next year. Color coding makes everything better.

Yay Mickey Waffle maker!! I have that guy too. Mickey Waffles are really the best breakfast ever.

I love both new shirts! And all the cute tsum tsums ... but the kiddo really needs to work on letting you have them for a few minutes to take pictures. The internet is far more important than one child's happiness.

The names do get confusing. Typically, you've got

Sprint - 750m/20km/5km
Olympic - 1500m/40km/10km
Half (also called Long in Europe) - 1.9km/90km/21km
Full - 3.8km/180km/42km

Sometimes you'll see others called Long when they increase the bike leg and keep the others the same. There's one here in Abu Dhabi with a 1500m swim and a 200km bike because the Europeans seem to like riding.

See, I knew I had it messed up. He's doing at least two sprints (they vary a tiny bit in lengths) and an Olympic this year I believe. And he wants to do a half eventually soon-ish.
Maybe one day I'll do one of those sprint thingies once I learn the whole putting my face in the water thing without being a baby about it :)

Edited to add that I realize I probably did the equivalent of calling a 10k a marathon. Oops. My apologies @FFigawi

Chris and I have talked about doing a local sprint one. The swim is in a pool which is advantageous for Chris since I've never seen anyone fight the water like he does while "swimming". The guy at our local store said there are people who literally just walk big portions of the swim. LOL

The one that I would be interested in trying is in a man made Lake near us (kinda like a wave pool that does not have a wave machine in it.) My Chris did it last year and the water was super warm. You also swim in a giant M shape so you are only in the deepest part at the tops of the M. It's also only 3 people at a time into the water instead of like a million people at once. That just seems less scary to lil ol' me. IF I ever did one I'd only do it if I trained enough to feel confident not standing up, but it's still a nice safety net. IF

That's a good goal to have. If you find a good instructor, you'll be able to overcome your fear very quickly. I know many people who have gone back to square one in order to learn to swim properly & confidently. The encouragement they've received from others in the classes, especially from the young kids, really made a difference.

Edited to add that I realize I probably did the equivalent of calling a 10k a marathon. Oops. My apologies @FFigawi

No apologies needed. I didn't even notice. :) It does get confusing at first because there are so many distances and names being used in various parts of the country and world.

And now an informal poll since I need to start thinking about booking my Fall WDW vacation once we get past the holiday season.
Stuff to know: My kiddo turns 5 on actual Halloween. We'd like to be there for at least a few days of Halloween decorations and possibly (but not necessary) a party night.
She loves to swim, but we realize it is Fall.
W&D is a nice perk that is close to dates we are thinking about, but it's not the focus at all. I'd probably do the 5k and hubby the 10k. I would not be doing ALL the races or challenges.
This trip will be just hubby, kiddo and me this time for now. Any add on family members would do accomodations on their own.
We'll be using EMH and rope drops as we are early birds and we take afternoon breaks.
DH & I LOVE Food & Wine fest.
My kiddo LOVES Magic Kingdom. Has done very little of the other three parks to date. But she'll be 5 this time.
Last trip was Bay Lake Tower at Contemporary and we were big fans of location and hotel, but we don't need that much room this time.
We want kiddo to have her own bed.
I'd love to get a 30%/25%/20% type fall discount.

So we are thinking possibly the whole week before W&D weekend as our major park going time.

Where would you stay if you were choosing between the following and why? I'm waffling and so this may help me decide.
Epcot deluxes:
Beach Club
Yacht Club - this seems to get better discounts than the Beach for some reason? Anyone know why?
Boardwalk
MK area deluxes:
Contemporary
(I'm nixing Poly and GF this time because they are just too rich for my blood for a full week+ vacay)
Wilderness Lodge (worried about construction? but love the idea of it.)
Any other resort you want to nominate? We like monorails and walking to parks over busses, so that's main reason I didn't list a "bus only" resort. But if you want to sales pitch one, I'm all ears.

Where I've stayed before. Offsite condos & downtown disney hotels, Carribbean Beach, Yacht Club, and Contemporary.

HELP!
