Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

It's been forever since I did an update! Well...4 days. But that feels like forever.

Work has been on another level for business...which is actually a great thing when you sell stuff...but it's A LOT. And so I apologize for the lack of pictures of things I am buying, cooking and coveting...along with running updates.

I had a case of the "feel sorry for myself" this weekend because I've somehow gained 4-5 lbs since my hot chocolate race. I mean... I know the WHY

So it's not like its a big mystery. I've taken Treat Yo' Self to a new level lately. While my dinner cooking and portions have still been excellent...and my eating good lunches at work has been on point...my treats and snacks and treats and more treats has gotten a little out of hand. Hey, but I've been drinking water! Which I think has somehow also made me crave "flavor" and then I think "oh, I'll just have this little free chocolate cookie even though I've already had a muffin earlier" etc etc etc.
Offices during the holidays are a TRAP!

But beating myself up is silly. I still am healthy and look great (compared to two years ago) and my small pants still fit :) I just have to be careful to not overdo it. I don't want to be puking up frosting and sprinkles when I start my half training.

Speaking of training...

Why is it so cold out???? Do you know how hard it is to walk from my front door to my car and my car to the gym? It's only like a total of maybe 3 minutes (maybe) outdoors, but it's such a mental barrier. I think the key is thinking of the gym like going to work. I HAVE TO GO TO WORK...like I'd be fired if I didn't. So I don't think anything of just going everyday. The gym has to be like that in the winter.
I've found a vlog I like called Thingamavlogs that is very disneyland centric. So I've been trading in my music for watching them on youtube. By the time I actually go to disneyland I'll have already watched every single thing online. Oops. But it's getting me through Winter.

I'm a bit behind on my quest for 48.6 but I'll get there. I still have the rest of this week to hunker down and get that Donald. And I have SO MUCH TIME OFF coming up that I am just so excited for my 12 days in a row off work. SO EXCITED! And if I don't spend a lot of that time taking advantage of running whenever I want, then that would be a shame. I hope the weather cooperates. It is 3 degrees out right now. Treadmill it is. I want to do 4 easy miles tonight. Or 3 easy miles with a bike chaser.

PS...my legs have been having moments of soreness now and again when I wake up and I think it's the weather. Because that happened to me even before I ever started running. Like near my ankles and around my knees. I think my body just wants to live somewhere warm and it's letting me know. That is all :)

Good luck to all the Dopey/Goofy/Etc peeps btw...I've been thinking about y'all and your long runs lately and what it would be like to have to be disciplined during this month for any future Disney marathon...but I'm thinking having a trip to Disney as a carrot would make being hard-working infinitely easier than right now.

And now I've rambled. But that's ok...it's like there is a character out there that I identify with for some reason? :)

haha love the Anna-centric post. She's the best. Coming off of race-training is always hard for me. I start out with the best intentions, but the truth is without a race hanging over my head I don't run as much as I hope to. It sounds like you are going to finish off December strong though! And yes, I know the holiday treat trap all too well. Good for you for being proactive with the water. I feel like that would help!

I love Anna so much! I hear you on the treats. Uggg. I have a candy dish on my desk filled with the Merry Mix sweetarts. I won't say how many of those I eat versus those who visit my office. Excellent update - although it took you long enough! ;)

Yep!
I'm hoping that I get stir crazy next week with being home so much, that going out the door for a run or to the gym isn't as teeth-pulling for me as it has been lately. I think while I'm off, getting the runs in early will be better than waiting for later in the day. So I only have to "get ready/shower" once.

My office had a big thing of Andy's mints by our printer. And I was printing a lot yesterday. :(

Seriously. Getting out of bed lately has been impossible - it's sooooo warm in bed and it's sooooo cold out of bed.

This is intriguing. Is it a YouTube channel?

I love the Frozen-themed update. I'm always a fan of more Anna :)

I am with you on the cold. I just don't want to leave my comfy warm blanket. Outside is not fun. Someone needs to invent instant teleportation ASAP so that you can go straight from warm indoors to warm indoors without the cold outdoors. Any chance you could get working on that? (I would work on it, but I'm much too lazy)

Want to know the irony of your statement....I sell material for structures...and some of them are pedestrian walkways....literally what you have described. Too bad I don't have the cash flow or the zoning to make one directly from my house to the gym. Or maybe I need to just invest in a treadmill at home finally? hmmmmmm :scratchin

The company doesn't give you free "samples" of the material to use to build your own walkways? That's not cool, they really should give you samples if they want you to sell it. Preferably enough to build your own pedestrian walkway to the gym. (Although that doesn't help with the zoning issue).

I have a treadmill in the house. It's a pretty basic one, not as fancy as you'd get in the gym (and it shuts off after an hour, so not really an option for long runs), but on days when I don't want to go outside, its a lifesaver. Well worth the investment (in my opinion). It's just a little loud sometimes.

And since my gym is a few miles away...by the time I got to it, I could just turn around and run back. I think there may be flaws in my idea. Maybe instead I'll just build an indoor running track around my neighborhood. The "overpasses" over every intersection are gonna be brutal, but at least that will help with my hill training.

Edited: wait...I'll just elevate the whole thing. Like an indoor monorail...but it's a running track...but only I have access to it. Obviously. (since they won't let me sign up for the indoor track at the college by my house...#bitter)

It's sooooo cold! I want to hibernate! I have a treadmill at home and it does come in handy on days like today, but I thought I was going to die of boredom for those three miles...:crazy2:

Yeah if it weren't for an episode of Fixer Upper last night, I could have fallen asleep right there on the machine. Don't the miles feel so much longer somehow?
At least now since I went yesterday, I have earned "no guilt hibernation" tonight.

Shout out to my treadmill peeps! I'm trying to figure out how many minutes or miles I want to devote to satan's sidewalk this weekend.
I'm thinking it may be a good time to get a solid 5 miles on there or I can just go for 60 minutes depending on what comes first depending on what speed I go with.
The gym has been EMPTY! I guess I should enjoy it now before the January resolution crowd shows up right? But it's a bit eery and weird too (I go to a mega big gym)

I just checked the weather and it's gonna be 27 tomorrow and snowing and 6 on Sunday. Maybe tomorrow outside!!!!
Tomorrow is xmas party #1 for the year. Luckily it's at our house, but that means all the food is probably staying at our house unless I'm diligent in turning into my mom and forcing people home with stacks of leftovers. I'm thinking that's a good plan.
Anyone want me to mail them some leftover ham??? Turkey??? Cookies????

I think running this holiday will be perfect for me. I was afraid I wouldn't have time for it, but I think my senses will be so overloaded going to all the family functions and chasing around my kiddo and cooking, etc. That it will actually be quite easy to "find time" to go escape to the run...by myself....alone!

Having FOMO about WDW weekend. I'm not trained for it but it's more the "idea" of it. One day again I'll get there for the bigger races. I still have my Tink to look forward too. Just missing the opportunity to go have fun with you guys....although at mile 20 y'all probably wouldn't call it "fun" right?

I think my "thing to think about while running" for my next training run is races for next year. Thanks @DopeyBadger for inadvertantly reminding me to think about that. So look forward to my possible race plan soon :)

Have fun hosting your Christmas party. It's a such a fun/busy time of year, but I do think running helps us get through sometimes! I'm right there with you wishing I was doing marathon weekend races. Someday I know I will run the WDW marathon- I just don't know when.

Sounds like we've got quite a few yeses so now we need to come together and decide on a weekend. So put everything in pencil at this point!

Donald doesn't seem convinced it's a good idea and I'm not sure I should trust that badger. Just sayin' :)
Mickey though is always hard to say no to.

Satan's sidewalk made me laugh out loud! What an apt description. Enjoy the Christmas parties and holiday runs and since there is no Dopey emoticon, I'll just leave these here. No mo' FOMO.

pluto:::MinnieMo:donald::mickeyjum:goofy: 2018!!

See, I thought I would make all the little Tink emojis dissappear by signing up for Tink. What really happened is that I taught you all that emoji persuasion worked. D'oh

But for serious:
I convinced hubby that doing a solo trip to Tink (which turned into a sister trip) was do-able. And then I've somehow convinced him that since we are going to WDW during Halloween time that maybe he should just run that W&D 10k. We still haven't decided if we'd be staying through the half marathon that weekend or going home the evening of the 10k. Sooo at most I may just be Jingle Jungling even though I'd only be ONE day away from the Coast 2 Coast. So there's still a lot to think about before 1/17 registration date for W&D (ugh, why sooo soooon!) I'm not going to make him fly home with our kiddo by himself so I can run one more race. So we still have to figure out if we want to spend the $$$ to add days or not. So much to think about.
SOOOOOO signing up for a Dopey that takes place next Jan seems like pushing it for me (in terms of asking to go to disney again so soon.)
BUT don't count me out for it at some point or a Mickey at some point. And feel free to drop emoji's whenever you want until it sells out. haha

But I'm thinking I need to conquer my first half before I start deciding when my first 26.2 will be. :) But I'd love it to be with the mouse.

So now...PICTURES OF THINGS!!!

TBC in next post.
