I just wanted to post my awesome review of Rosen Shingle Creek. We have DVC so we always stay onsite, but DH had a conference here and the fam tagged along. While I had major problems staying off-site, they were problems with off-site, not the particular hotel.
SInce Shingle Creek is 4 miles from Universal, it would be a better Universal hotel. The building and lobby are beautiful, the golf course is great. The rooms are large, well cleaned, and nicely appointed. They have 3 pools, a true lap pool, and zero entry family pool and an adult only pool complete with first come first serve cabanas.
The staff was incredible, DS, 1, refused to sleep one night, so we went out for a stroll in the stroller to try to get him to pass out. It was about 9 pm when I left the room. We walked on the jogging trail that was well light, and right next to hotel. I felt very safe the entire time and we did 3 miles. Even though the sidewalk seemed really secure, I was pleasently surprized when I got a security guard escort for most of my walk. He was in a golf cart, and noticed us - so without saying a word, he followed us - at a very comfortable distance away - for most of the walk. It was great!
