Roseanne (old sitcom, not the person)

I love when Becky gives the money Roseanne and Dan gave them to Mark so he could go to school and Becky gets a job at BUNS!

Dan: No little girl of mine is going to work in THAT place.
Becky: I'm not a little girl, I'm a grown woman! When are you going to take me seriously???
Roseanne: How can we take you seriously when you have WORDS ON YOUR BUTT?????

Cracks me up every time!!

ETA: Wasn't Jackie's "prince" Jim Varney? I think that's right.

My favorite episode of all time is the one where DJ...how do I put this...spends lots of time in the bathroom. The family is sitting around the table, and Darlene says "I heard DJ got in trouble for playing with his instrument at school." Hilarity ensues and culminates with Darlene saying "Don't worry. How much trouble can he get into with only one hand?" The episode is full of some of the best one-liners ever! :happytv: I remember watching this with my mom when it originally aired and being a mortified teenager. :scared1:

I loved that one too-I loved it when some time passed and DJ says all innocently, "Who told you I got caught playing with my instrument in band?" He had no idea what they were even talking about, but was still wondering who'd told her that?

One of the BEST sitcoms EVER!!!!!!:thumbsup2

My All time favorite scene is when Rosanne & Jackies Father dies, and Jackie is making the phone call to family members! CLASSIC!

You are right! That was a great one! she says "Dad passed away" a few times to (who was she talking to?) then they didn't understand so she sort of yelled "DAD'S DEAD!!!!!" :happytv:

I love that episode, it's so funny :rotfl2:

And I love this quote:

Jackie: Mom drank while she was pregnant with us

Roseanne: Oh, Jackie, after a few months in mom, we probably needed a shot or two.

:lmao: :lmao:

Dan: Do I have to spell it out for you??? P - M - S!!!

DJ: Oh MY GOD!!!! And he falls off the chair!!!

Jackie's hair changes SO MANY TIMES. I saw some early season 9 eps last night and wow, it changed even more.

Season 1 - it was medium
Season 2 - it was growing out
Season 3 - It was long and stringy (chopped in the last few eps to medium)
Season 4 - she chopped it medium again
Season 5 - it was growing out
Season 6 - it was long, and then kinda short again, then really short like 3 eps later
Season 7 - short the whole time
Season 8 - short but grows a little
Season 9 - medium bob at first, then really short

Sheesh, she couldn't make up her mind! LOL

I also saw a season 4 episode last night. After the bowl cut in season 3, Becky's hair grew back pretty nicely. It wasn't that cute, but it's this blonde, curvy type chin length bob. It's not the best but it's cute.

I just saw the Becky interview where she talked about her hair.

Although brief, I did notice one thing. She definetly HATED that haircut. She looked ready to cry when she said "And Roseanne cut it off, at the base". Then she just sits there and looks sad. I think it was WAY too short for her...lol

Speaking of 'hair!" How about George Clooney's mop of hair as Booker!? He was so cute in that role. I kept wanting him to get more lines or more of a part but his role was short lived. I really thought he was cute then!

Whenever my Mom and I are on the phone and we misunderstand each other more than once, one of us always screams out "DAD'S DEAD!!" just because of this scene.

My favorite part is when, after it's all over, she then says, "He's fine. He sends his love" and hangs up.

Oh how I love that scene. Laurie Metcalf was the bomb on that show.

Laurie Metcalf rocks!
I'll second that!

She was terrific in "Desperately Seeking Susan" and hysterical in "Uncle Buck".

I LOVE when her character watches John Candy tussle with the washing machine!

I love the "Roseanne" show and have a special affection for Sara Gilbert! She attended Yale University while appearing in "Roseanne", graduating with honors the year the show ended.

She majored in art, a passion that was mimicked on the show!

She truly has transformed into quite a swan!

The pre-Goth Darlene and I were so much alike that my Mother swears they based the character on an adolescent me. And I have to admit, sometimes I watch the earliest episodes and it *is* like watching some of the things I used to do. Oh I was such a smart---.

Still am, of course.
