These are some of my roses in bloom.

This is Polar Star, a shrub rose.

Next to it is Polar Ice, another shrub rose.

This rose was here when we moved in. I moved it from the west side of the house into this bed after I saw what color the bloom was.

My Mothers Day gift from my boys, Disneyland Rose.

Another gift from my boys, Lavaglut.

I have more that are just starting to bloom and will get pictures added to this thread soon.

Very nice.....:D

These are so pretty, Mary, thank you!! :)

Lavaglut? LOL...I can see it's very bright red, but it still seems like an odd name. :)

It is a strange name. I wonder what it means. The flowers are kind of dark. It's hard to describe but it almost looks black on the underside of the petals and the topside looks like red velvet.

Beautiful roses, can almost smell them. Very unusual ones too. I've never heard of them.
Of course I love your Disneyland Rose the best.. What a thoughtful gift.

Gorgeous! I always admire people who can grow roses so well - I can't.

I also enjoyed these rose pictures too.

And I also did a double take at that name, Lavaglut. Isn't lava from a volcano firey red like that but also dark underneath like you said the under petals were?

Perhaps they felt it represented a "glut" of lava. ???

- Hey! Stranger names have been made for weirder reasons!

Tulirose: I think you are probably right. I looked it up in my rose encyclopedia and it was propogated in Germany, hence the name. It didn't say what it meant but I think you are right on.

Just goes to show you, even people who don't know what they are talking about can be right some times!! LOL :jester:
