So, I just decided that i don't want to have bubbles for the staged exit, and would rather do rose petals. I think it would look better in the pictures. What has everyones experiences been with this? I've heard of them just putting them in a basket and letting everyone grab a handful. Has anyone used cones? Any help or pictures would be appreciated!!! TIA!

I don't have experience but there are a lot of brides on here that have made petal cones. I think keenercam is made petal cones so look through her planning journal.

We just bought the petals in chiffon bags from Disney Floral - I didn't want to hassle with making and shipping cones. They were only $3 a bag, and you can actually have them put fewer petals in the bags to save money if you need to (like putting enough petals for 75 people in 100 bags).

Here's what it all looked like:

Thanks Ladies!

Carrie, you were the reason why I wanted the rose petals! Your pictures look amazing!! I love the hot pink!

Catherine, you helped me figure out how to get them!!!

I had the same organza bags, but mine were gold.

They hung mine on the back of each of the chairs. This is the best picture I could find:

We got the bags as well, but ours were placed on the guests' chairs. Here are my pics:

If I am having my ceremony at the wedding pavilion, can i bring my own silk petals to toss or do i need to go through disney? :confused3

Our WP walked around with a basket filled with rose petals and everyone just grabbed a handful. I paid $90 for 40 guests, even though less guests showed up.

!!!! ROSE PETAL TOSS WARNING!!!

Ask your Wedding Planner to give a brief petal tossing tutorial to your guests as he/she lines everyone up for the staged exit. ESPECIALLY if you have young, rambunctious, or possibly vindictive groomsmen in your wedding party.

I don't think anyone can tell in our pictures, but 3 of our 4 groomsmen (DH's 3 best friends) HURLED the flower petals at us like they were throwing footballs. In some of the staged exit pictures, you can see that my DH actually has his arm up shielding us from their attack and you can see the 3 menaces laughing hysterically as we continue past them.

Also the very young kids (ages 2-9) all kinda threw the petals on the ground instead of up in the air. :confused3

Thanks! I will definitely make note of your warning! i can see a couple of our groomsmen doing the same thing! we are inviting about 65 guests so i think we'd be able to afford doing it with real petals from disney! i was worried they'd be a couple hundred dollars!

OMG I'm so glad someone brought this up! I was just looking at Lynn and Carries pics and I MUST have petals!! Does anyone know if the prices are the same for escape?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Disney will allow you to use silk petals for tossing.

I'm pretty sure you're at least half right. I know that you aren't allowed to use them at SBP because they are hazardous for duckies, but I'm not sure about inside the WP.

You can put fake petals down inside the WP, but the petal toss at the WP is usually outdoors, where you'd need real petals.

The cost of petals is the same no matter what kind of wedding you're having. It's based on how many bags/cones or how many "people's worth" you buy (like 40 people's worth of petals in a big basket for 50 people)

You might also want to bring your own petals. You can get real freeze-dried petals at www.flyboynaturals.com. But if you bring your own, you have to bag 'em and find a guest to distribute them - Disney won't do it.

:thumbsup2

If we bag our own flowers and bring them do we have to clean up or is it the same as if we bought it from disney?

You don't have to clean up, don't worry! :goodvibes

And I have heard of planners being OK with setting out petals that you didn't buy from Disney. It's just that their official policy is not to handle anything you didn't buy from them.

I had a similar situation at my wedding. DH's cousin (in his early 20s) threw the petals balled up directly at DH... and hit DH in the eye... and that resulted in the cousin getting punched... :( I didnt even realise it happend until the reception when DH told me. I was oblivous to it during the recessional.

A smarty at our VR tried to enlist others in his idea to hurl the bag at my groom because the instructions were taken literally. He did hit my DH in the side of the head with the bag and surprised him. I don't know if it got in the pictures. I am actually concerned that not enough people threw the petals for it to even show up in the pictures :confused3

Carrie's pics are the ones that I noticed, loved and changed from bubbles to petals!

:yay: I am DYING to see pics and read about YOUR wedding!!! Did you start a TR? I really don't have a right to talk because I haven't even gotten half way through my TR. :confused3

Yep, my DH got hit in the eye too. Maybe younger men should just be banned from the petal toss all together. Only those mature enough to handle it should be allowed.

Have you gotten your pics back yet? Can you see it happening in the pics?
