Rose & Crown/Illuminations Question

We will be celebrating our daughter's 13th birthday at WDW (13! Where has the time gone?!). We would like to celebrate at Rose & Crown and be on the patio to see Illuminations during dinner. I know that we can't request an outside table (right?) but what time should we schedule our reservation in order to have the best shot at it--dinner on the patio during Illuminations? I believe Illuminations should start at 9:00 (during September).

Also, I am going to order a special cake as well. Has anyone had a birthday cake ordered from R&C? If so, how was it?

Any other ideas on how to make it a special day for her would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to do the same thing...we have never eaten at the R&C but I read in the unofficial guide to get the latest ADR you can and request to be seated on the patio if possible. I would definitely tell them it's your daughters birthday and that you want to watch Illuminations during dinner. They should do everything they can to accomodate you. The latest ADR I could get was 7:20pm but we are going at the end of March...I'm hoping that we won't get seated until after that and I am going to request a patio seat. Good Luck! I have a 13 yo DS and I know what you mean about the time flying by!

If you do request a patio table, you will most likely get the "can't promise anything, you'll have to accept the first table that becomes available" speil. Apparently those who have insisted on waiting for a patio table, have been advised to dine elsewhere by the CM's at the R&C check-in point.

Even if you don't get seated out on the patio, you will still get the chance to go out to a separate viewing area to watch Illuminations - still worth it IMO.

Three years ago, on our daughter's b'day we made an 8:30 reservation at the R & C. We checked in early( about 8:05), and we told the hostess that it was my daughters birthday, and asked if there was any way we could get outdoor seating. She said that if we wouldn't mind waiting for around 45 minutes, she would work us in. We ended up getting an great table outside at about twenty minutes before Illuminations. It was fantastic!

Get there early. Try and get an ADR for 730-8pm. when you get to the podium tell them you are celebrating a birthday and you would be willing to wait a little while longer for an outside table. This will increase your chances.

We had our ADR at 8pm - I think we were seated later than that. As the time for Illuminations approached, we had finished our meal and it was about time for dessert. Our server offered to wait on dessert and show us where the outdoor viewing area was. There is a patio area they will let you go to for watching Illuminations - then come back to your table and have dessert.

We did the exact same last year. We had an ADR for 7:45 and as we were waiting for desert they invited us to the viewing area. It seemed as if none of the patio diners left after we arrived. Several seemed to be hanging out over coffee to wait- so patio tables may be really hard to get.
