Hi all, my family and I are planning to rope drop DHS next Tuesday, We plan on getting there at around 8-815am for a 9am opening. Is that good timing? Also we will be going to SDD first so where would we want to be stationed once they open the park. We have never RD DHS before so any feedback would be great.

1. 8AM would not be too early.
2. When they open the gates, you will not be admitted to Toy Story Land.
Guests will be regrouped and held on the main street (Hollywood Blvd.) until very nearly 9AM.

So, once you are on Hollywood Blvd., stay to the right side (as you face the Chinese Theater) of the street .

Tuesday will no longer have EEMH so that will change the pattern of the crowds the past 2 months since SWGE opened.

8-8:15am should be good with 8am being obviously better. Don't get in line any later than 8:20 though!

For SDD I would suggest to be in the middle to right side of the first rope. Most who RD on the right side will be going to SDD while only a few will go to RnRc and ToT. Everyone who has a clue on the left to middle will be going to SWGE for RD.

From what I have seen in the recent RD videos online the right side of the TSL group moves faster than the middle or left as long as you stay on the main path. Even though you take the wider turn around the outer (right) corner of the block arch (to the left) you will still be ahead of the people on the left who have to walk thru the arch or have to pinch down to the inside of it.

Note to staying on the main path because there is a risk of taking the far right that you get on a separate path that will be held back while the middle group passes through.

Sorry if that is confusing.

But, don't worry...
virtually every one of the thousands of other guests there will be headed directly to the same place you are.

Thanks, would I have a good chance of being one of the first 100 online by doing this? Would assume most of the crowd is heading to SWGE.

Follow up question: is there anywhere outside of the tapstiles to grab coffee?

There didn't used to be at DHS.
MAYBE there was a place added along with the new gondola areas.

I would just re-emphasize the above poster’s point about this being among the first few days where we will see a 9am DHS opening. We may or may not have been lulled into complacency by the 6am EMHs we’ve had to date and we really don’t know what exactly rope drop conditions and procedures will be like.... how big the crowds will be, what time they will actually open the park to people, etc.

For better or worse you’re going to be among the lucky few to experience whatever Disney has in mind for 9am openings. Would love to hear about your experience afterwards if you have a second to report back.

Have fun.

That’s kind of what I was hoping. I’d love a place to grab something while DD holds our spot in line.

I am expecting crowded chaos and will be pleasantly surprised if I am wrong. Either way, I will definitely report back to the boards how it goes for us on the 7th. Hoping others will give us some earlier intel starting the 3rd.

there's no guarantee that you will be able to get back to her though if you leave the crowd and then try to return.

Maybe someone could help on this as well, Touring plans has low wait times for 11/6 next week for MK. Are they accurate a lot? We have FPs for Space, Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion. Rope dropping buzz then going to breakfast at 930. I also booked all my FPs for before 130. So what rides would you guys think I'd be able to add throughout the day with the additional FPs after mine are up. What rides should I expect to wait 40+ for and which ones should I be able to get a FP for? Rides we are interested in are: Jungle, Pirates, small world, splash, BTMRR, astro, winnie, speedway and little mermaid. Already ruling out 7DMT, might see how it is at like 10pm. Any help with feedback would be awesome!

Sometimes.
(No. I'm not kidding.)

There are lots of "crowd prediction" services.
They very often disagree with one another.

Are some consistently more accurate than others, over time?
Not to the point of being "the most accurate."

The 6am openings really were a thing of beauty, if you didn't mind getting up. Plus a lot of the EEMH crowd left the park after that contributing, in my guess at least, to the shorter posted times for SDD and MFSR. Im interested to see how 11-03 and 11-04 go.

I do think at least you now have the benefit of two lands splitting up the rope drop crowds. Prior to SWGE opening I wouldn't have wished the SDD rope drop run on my worst enemy.

You will be stopped at Sunset BLVD until about 8:45 and then walked into TSL. In the past, the wait for SDD wasn't too bad if you were at the tapstiles by 8. Before EEMH, we got on SDD at 8:50. By 9:10, the line was back to Woodie and close to 90 minutes.
Nobody knows at this time how the loss of EEMH will change crowd flow.
Currently, when you look at wait times, SDD generally has a longer wait time then Smugglers Run does. That would lead you to believe many more may head to TSL at RD, but thats unknwn.

No - however, sometimes the Trolley car is open so you can get a Starbucks while being held on Hollywood Blvd (the lines are crazy though)

Your best help will come from reading the first few posts in the "FastPass+ Frequently Asked Questions" sticky post always near the top of this forum. It provides the most accurate recent info about which FPs are more advantageous (and more difficult to book) and which are less important.

I'm curious about how all of this will work, too. We're planning to Rope Drop HS on Tuesday, 11/5. I've read that the first buses start running about 6:30. Depending when the second bus is likely, I'm planning to be on one of those two. We don't need to be one of the very first people on MFSR, but we need to be done in time for a 10 am Oga's reservation. Hoping for some intel from anyone who goes 11/3 or 11/4 to help us strategize!
