Absolutely!!!!!! Get the coffee for your verandah a little something for the kids to hold them over while you get ready, it was great. Just a little something to have then go get the Mickey Ear waffles or Pancakes and eggs and everything. I love room service ... where is that number???? We also were not charged for items not on the menu. Candy and beverages of the adult nature do come with a price

I have relatives in Oradel, NJ, which is North Jersey I think, right?

I remember going over the Tappanzee Bridge to get there. Beyond that I'm not quite sure, probably about 20 mins to a half hour farther. Oh well. Have a great weekend.

Hey kaygirlsmama, I'm another former New Jerseyian (or however you would spell that) that has been transplanted in Georgia. I grew up in Alpine and went to high school in Tenafly. Ever heard of those? I remember us going to the mall in Bergenfield all the time.

Hi Holly, Good to hear from you. Dh is the one from up north and he knows exactly where Tenafly is. Are you happy with your move to Conyers? I don't think we've actually been there, but have seen signs for the turnoff on the way to soccer games in Atlanta. When's your next trip on the dcl?

We've lived here for over 15 years now, so it feel like home now. Conyers was a fairly small town when we moved here, but it isn't anymore. I'm sure we will stay here at least until my youngest is out of high school, but then I think we will probably try to move a little farther away from Atlanta.

We don't have another Disney Cruise trip planned yet, but I'm thinking of November 2005 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.

So when you are finished with room service do you leave the leftovers in your room or do you place it in the hallway?

Is it the dining department that handles removal or is your room steward no in charge and thereby creating more work for them?

Can you bring food from the buffet into your room? If you do this, would I be responsible to bring the tray back to the buffet area then?

What is the average response time for room service?

I know that breakfast can be prearranged at a set time. What about other meals?

Some people mention having sandwiches delivere the night before, is it not possible to have them delivered the morning of your excursion?

We tipped $5 for breakfast every moorning, and $2 each for the couple of times we ordered a cheese tray or something in the afternoon.

JC, when we went on our last cruise the room steward took our tray from our room when he cleaned. I just piled the plates, napkins, cups, etc. back on the tray. That way he didn't have to collect everything from around the room, it was all right there together ready to go. Yes, you can bring food to your room from the buffet. Again, I would just put it all together in one spot.
The avg. response time for room service varied for us. There are times of the day when they are real busy. We had the late dinner seating. So, we would go to our cabin to begin getting ready and get something to tie the boys over until dinner (unless of course they were eating with the kids clubs). Sometimes it would take 45 minutes to an hour then. But most of the time it was within 20 minutes or so. It may also depend on how much you order.
They only have breakfast tags for the doors so you can't really "prearrange" any other meals. Just call room service any time!
About the sandwiches the night before. It is my understanding (someone correct me if I am wrong) that you can only order breakfast foods in the morning. If your excursion is early or you are leaving the ship early you wouldn't be able to get them. Just bring some ziploc bags with you. Order the sandwiches the night before, wrap them up, and enjoy the next day.

During the afternoon and evening hours I was always told it was a 40 minute turnaround. Never ended up being more than 20.

A word to the wise, if you order and sit out on your verandah, you will NOT hear anyone knocking on your stateroom door. I took the 40 minutes at face value and happened to be in the stateroom when the knock came. Not sure what they do if no one answers......

The instructions we had said the tray could be left in the stateroom OR placed outside to be picked up. I would not do that if you have wine glasses on the tray. One afternoon a few people came flying down the corridor and knocked over and broke two wine glasses and kept going. When we walked out of our stateroom there was glass all over the carpeting. A call to Guest Services and it was cleaned within 5 minutes, but a barefoot walker could have had a nasty surprise.

Room Service has become one of our favorite parts of the cruise. Since we have the early dinner seating, we're a little hungry for a snack around 10:30 pm or 11:00 pm. We usually ordered a cheese platter, some delicious oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies, cereal for the kids, milks and apple juice. They were very prompt and absolutely wonderful. Since we are in 3 rooms, we would place one order but usually gave a tip of around $5.00 since it was such a big order. We'll be going on the 7/17 Western and I can't wait to ask for the Cake/Pie of the day, which we've never done. My sister also plans on ordering sandwiches the night before and putting them in the fridge for her excursion day at Grand Cayman.
