Room ready changed…

Last week we had a 3 way split (during the busiest time time of the year). Our first room, a studio at BCV was available at 4:30p (we didn't arrive until 9:30p). We switched to a 1 BR at BCV on day 3 and that room was ready at 11:06a. On day 7 we switched to a 1 BR at BWV. It was ready at 11:02a. The key to getting in early, for us at least, was to go to the front desk and have them check you out and then go to the next resort (or in the first case, stay with the same cast member) and tell them you are there. We did this at about 6:30a. At that point in time both cast members found us rooms that would be available once cleaned (they were unoccupied).

I know not every situation allows to get to the front desk that early, but if you are at your resort and are dropping your bags off go to the front desk and tell them you are physically there. You may be asked if you are going to the parks. We were truthful and said we were but would love to be able to get into the room ASAP.

Perhaps room sizes make a difference?

I hardly ever have a 1BR (or above) ready before 4. On the other hand, studios are often ready before 4.

Also, SSR and OKW during school months are also typically ready before noon no matter what the room size, for obvious reasons.

Definitely a factor if that is the case.

Probably not studios?

Probably always book studios?
We have never had to wait past 2 or so for a room, but we fit the scenarios you described....always studios except a 1 BD at OKW end of January and a 1BR at SSR first week of March.

I think it stings more when you have a 1 night stay and don’t get in by 4pm. That’s when you start to count the hours you’re really getting. Last year I stayed at a CCV Cabin and didn’t get the room ready text until 7pm. I chatted with member services about it and got an apology.

Ouch! That would be when I talk to the manager at the resort and ask for some level of compensation as an apology.

When something like that happens it's best to deal with the manager of the resort directly I think, that's pretty severe.

Our Cabin at CFW was ready at 1pm the week of New Year's. I was surprised!

Kind of a reverse Hotel California: "You can check in any time you like, but you can never leave... the lobby (because your room isn't ready)."
Quoting myself because I can't believe I missed the golden pun opportunity of "Hotel Grand Californian."

I’m either real lucky or something. We come twice a year. Always studios. We drove and always get there before noon. Not only have we NEVER had a room ready after 4, but more than half the time it’s ready when we get there.

When the resorts re-opened after COVID, I do not think they brought back all of the housekeeping staff that they had before the pandemic and with a smaller staff, they cannot complete the work as quickly. In addition, more sanitizing procedures may have been put in place due to the pandemic which take longer to complete.

Here's what gets me.

Prices for everything at Disney have gone up, yet the product and staffing are both diminished.

My luck continued this week and both my RIV and VGF RV studios were ready by noon!
