I think you can as long as it's done within 14 days of the initial reservation (or something along those lines).

Yes, within the specified period.
Keep in mind that once you transfer to a TA you can not Disney to inquire about anything to do with your reservation. You have to have your TA do all the calling for you. Everything from that moment in has to be done 3rd party.
