Room only to Package... has anyone transferred payments over...

We currently have a room only booking which is fully paid off but wanted to take advantage of the free dining offer. I called to ask if they could move the payment between the room only and the package and spoke to probably the most unpleasant CM I've ever spoken to.

I explained that we are international guests and we had really hoped to move the money we had paid for the room only to the package as we wind up paying currency exchange fees 3 times in this scenario and the card we paid with was discontinued --- it took 3 months to get a credit back once the account zero-ed out. Not only did the woman not care she actually started shouting at me that it wasn't their problem...

Is there really no way for Disney to transfer or Journal voucher a payment from one system to another? If there is .... who can I speak to that can help me with this.

I have transferred the balance from one reservation to another before. Just called and made the request, it took a few days but it happened.

I am a TA, but I wouldn't think that would matter in this case.

Thanks for this.

I'm going to call again and see if I get a slightly less angry cast member. I was a little taken aback that this was the first request they'd ever received like this. I wonder if I made the second ressie if it's easier to transfer between two existing reservations.

It has been a while, however I do believe that I made a second reservation, maybe even made the $200 deposit and then requested that the balance from the first reservation be transferred to the other. I made the $200 deposit because the transfer process took a few days as mentioned so I didn't want to lose the second reservation. Good luck!

Hi: Just wondering if you were able to move the money to the other reservation? I know what you mean about the exchange rate.

Deb.

I haven't tried yet... this week has been crazy. I've sent an email asking who I could contact about this and they haven't replied yet... If I haven't heard from them by Wednesday I'll probably try to do it.... and will post my experience.

Were the 2 reservations both room only or both packages? If so, that's never a problem. Transferring from a room only to a package or vice versa, which is what the OP is trying to do, is a problem.

Oh, good point, I missed that piece of info. In my case they were both packages.

You can always politely ask to speak with someone in guest services if the initial cast member is unhelpful or rude. They have more authority and access.

After speaking to my DH we both sort of agree... we're just not going to bother with this any further. We'll go on our trip as-is. I'm sure we'll enjoy it but we aren't going to spend hours working to 1/ pay more to WDW than we already are when they can't be bothered to assist us and 2/and we just won't ever be back since clearly they don't care about exchange issues for international guests and 3/ we'll stop at the grocery store and go to off site restaurants (which should be good since I've researched a bit and there are some interesting places in Orlando to eat) to cover all but 2 or 3 meals where we'll eat at WDW and 4/ since we'll be eating and spending more time off site we won't be spending that shopping $'s at WDW and 4/ we will not buy additional dessert parties, character meals, tours, dining events, Fireworks cruises, etc... on this trip that we have on all of our previous trips. We'll probably save $5K+ on the trip this way --- hard to imagine it would have cost them almost nothing to do a simple accounting JV payment transfer between 2 accounting systems.

Unfortunately the person who kept talking/shouting over me was from Guest Services --- the first CM was entirely polite and very pleasant .... Guest Services stated that they never move funds from room only to package. If they can't then I guess it must be pretty unpleasant when payments are misapplied... and their accounting system must be equally as bad as their other IT systems... but that's fine. Would have been great if they had even responded to my email ---- but they couldn't be bothered... so I get the point.
