Room only discounts for Fall?

Well, now that Free Dining has been released, does anyone have any guesses when the room only discounts for the rest of the year (October, November, December) will come out? Sometime in August I'm assuming, right?

I had a bounceback booked for November, switched to Free Dining yesterday, and now I'm regretting it! So I'm hoping for some good room only discounts, for November!

I'm curious if the dates will match the free dining dates? I check in on October 4th so i was able to take advantage of free dining. But we have family checking in october 6th and leaving the 13th so i was hoping they wouldn't have to pay full price for everything. Any ideas?

I'm hoping so. I'd love even a small discount on our night December 9th before our FD package starts on the 10th.

I'm so hoping they will not match the FD dates because I would love to have a discount for the 14th so we can afford to stay at AKL or the Poly. That would be so nice if we can get one for then. I have heard though that last year there were no discounts that week Then again I think there were in 2010. I have also check for reservation the week after mine, thinking of changing for free dining and there are not any rooms at AKL except one type that was way to expensive. During the week I'm book everything is available. I know there have been a few pins out a few months ago with those dates included ! So there is still hope maybe.

Usually comes out a month after the FD offer, so we are hoping this holds true this year.

I'm hoping for some kind of discount for October as well. We're only staying 2 nights so aren't eligible for FD. When Danny predicted July 12 as the release for FD he said that Room Only discounts would follow a few weeks afterwards. IDK if that's true or not, but I am hoping for something soon!

I'm hoping as well! Can't stand it! Trip is already paid for but it would be nice to get some money back- save it for WDW goodies- Mickey Rice Crispie treats- YUMMY!!!

We are booked at the FtW cabins for late October and I'm checking every day, hoping they will release an AP discount soon!

Friends from Rhode Island are also waiting for early December room only ... but still cannot decide what resort! I'm advising Poly and hoping the % will be 35 or 40 ... well, it would be NICE for them.

20% Values (15% @ Movies, Excluding AoA LM rooms)
25% Moderates (excluding POFQ)
30% Deluxe

I believe the dates will follow the FD just released for fall.

I don't expect them to match up with the FD dates. Last year nearly all of Oct. was blacked out. The only dates covered for the GP room discount in 2011 were Oct. 1, 30 and 31.

I looked up the pin offer I got last year, just for reference. The pin offer had the subject line called “Magical savings in a magical place, xxx family!”

- I received the email pin on Monday, 8/8/2011 @ 5:32pm

- The offer was 35% off Deluxe, 25% off Moderates, 25% off Value

- It had “For stays most nights 9/18–11/18 & 11/26–12/22/11”

- Call by 10/7/2011

- I was able to use the offer at the Polynesian for the 3rd Saturday/3rd Week of October

- I didn't even call to reserve until 10 days later...made my reservation on 8/18. Hadn't planned to go again in 2011!

- My stay was from checkin Saturday 10/15/2011 - check-out Thursday 10/20/2011...5 nights

- I do recall that Thursday and maybe Friday nights (10/20 & 10/21) weren't available at the Poly – but not sure if those were black-out dates or the resort was just fully booked already.


I usually receive emails, email pins and mailed flyers on a frequent basis addressed to various members of my family that we have traveled with (myself, husband, mom or brother). I haven’t seen anything lately – but hoping to receive a pin SOON for my next trip planned for Oct 2012. I have a sneaky feeling nothing's coming out...??

I predict the GP discounts will come out first (like they generally have all year) and that they'll be very similar to the late summer ones. I'm guessing these will be announced in early to mid August.

Some weeks later, the AP discounts will come out (possibly not until after Labor Day). The AP ones will apply to a more limited set of resorts than the GP ones, but have somewhat deeper discounts at some resorts than the GP ones (just like they have all year).

I also expect the discounts, in general, to be very resort specific (like they have all year).

For example, I'm hoping to get a good Poly discount but am not expecting much. Why? Because the Grand Floridian refrub (particularly the main pool closure) will likely cause a good number of guests that would otherwise book there to book Poly instead.

Now, some may respond that the Poly will be undergoing refrubs of its own, specifically to various longhouses (so shouldn't that translate to a more generous discount?). But I think this makes it all the less likely for good Poly discounts because Disney won't have as many rooms to fill.

So while the Grand Floridian may well have 30% (or even 35%) discounts this fall, I wouldn't be surprised if the Poly only had 5% (or even no discounts at all).

This year, it appears that Disney is using the following order of priority to fill rooms:

1. Free dining pins
2. Room discount pins
3. Visa/GP free dining
4. GP room discounts
5. AP room discounts

They are being very surgical about this and are only offering GP and AP room discounts as a last resort to fill in booking level gaps.

I hope you are right about GF!!! I need an AP for the beginning of Oct at the GF. I am hoping the construction has scared everyone away...A girl can dream, right???

I'm with you. "They" know we have AP's and that we'll be back, discount or no discount. Sucks huh? I'm waiting on Oct as well.
