Room only discounts for Fall?

No way to predict. Last year the ONLY covered dates in Oct for a GP discount were Oct. 1,30 and 31.

They are being very surgical about this and are only offering GP and AP room discounts as a last resort to fill in booking level gaps.

I totally agree. The pins and discounts this year have been increasingly more targeted by date, resort, room type, etc. I wonder if that big system upgrade (last year? The year before?) gave them more fine-grain information and control.

Where did you hear it? That's the first rumor I've seen with an actual date in it and not just "August".

I looked up the pin offer I got last year, just for reference. The pin offer had the subject line called “Magical savings in a magical place, xxx family!”

- I received the email pin on Monday, 8/8/2011 @ 5:32pm

- The offer was 35% off Deluxe, 25% off Moderates, 25% off Value

- It had “For stays most nights 9/18–11/18 & 11/26–12/22/11”

- Call by 10/7/2011

- I was able to use the offer at the Polynesian for the 3rd Saturday/3rd Week of October

- I didn't even call to reserve until 10 days later...made my reservation on 8/18. Hadn't planned to go again in 2011!

- My stay was from checkin Saturday 10/15/2011 - check-out Thursday 10/20/2011...5 nights

- I do recall that Thursday and maybe Friday nights (10/20 & 10/21) weren't available at the Poly – but not sure if those were black-out dates or the resort was just fully booked already.


I usually receive emails, email pins and mailed flyers on a frequent basis addressed to various members of my family that we have traveled with (myself, husband, mom or brother). I haven’t seen anything lately – but hoping to receive a pin SOON for my next trip planned for Oct 2012. I have a sneaky feeling nothing's coming out...??

I got this same email PIN last year and hoping for another! I called reservations yesterday and asked if I had a PIN inder my name and there was nothing. I wonder if there is not going to be "room-only" discount pin codes scheduled for October? I usually get them, but I wonder...

That's correct. But reviewing last year, it looks like there was about a two week gap between the fall discount expiration and the next release.

That's why I was curious to see if the PP heard the date From a CM. Or if it was just idle speculation on another board.

I'm with you. "They" know we have AP's and that we'll be back, discount or no discount. Sucks huh? I'm waiting on Oct as well.

actually, they don't "KNOW" we'll be back...and they don't know that we will renew our APs and come back next year, either. It is certainly an option for us this year. AP rates was a big draw.

Actually they kind of do know. Not any one individual family, of course. But they have lots of statistics to tell them how many people will/won't return to use their APs and will/wont renew at the new price and how much revenue they will gain by any change. Not that companies don't make mistakes (ala New Coke) and miscalculate, but so far Disney seems to do pretty well with that.

I hesitate to guess here. But based on the complete lack of any rumors, I wouldn't expect anything for probably two weeks. Maybe the week of the 20th at the earliest. But Sept would not surprise me.

I should step back and say some CMs have said "August" but that could be just wild guessing or it could also refer to the FD extension that came out yesterday. Sometimes they know a discount is coming but don't know what it is.

Nothing to do but keep checking back regularly.

The last CM I spoke to said "probably September" and the previous CM a few weeks before said "maybe August". They both said they didn't have any information but were just making a guess.

Cm said they haven't been putting any out in awhile!! I hope thus isn't the way things will be b/c it will greatly cut the number of trips back as well as the category resort we stay in!

Bluejasmine - recognize you from the Aloha! threads. Well, past Aloha! threads since we are booked for the Pop this trip. We always stay at the Poly but I didn't want to pay full rates - so we are giving the Pop a try. Hopefully a RO will come out; although that would be painful for you since you are paid in full now! I'm at the point that I might not switch to Poly even if one comes out. I'll just take the couple hundred savings at the Pop instead of spending almost an extra couple thousand at a Deluxe. If I fall in love with the Pop, I'll just consider it sort of my own personal discount alternative for future trips.
