Room Location??

My family of 2 Adults and 3 children (aged 8yrs, 5yrs & 5yrs), will be booking our first Disney cruise in a family room with verandah sailing the Western Caribbean very soon, however i would love to hear everyone's room preferences. Do you prefer to be at the aft, midship or forward? Do you have a preference for the port or starboard side of the ship?

I prefer starboard for the views.

Mid ship will have less movement if that worries you.

Fore and aft elevators and halls have less traffic.

In other words, they all have advantages. I'd just make sure you aren't under a big noise maker.

We like mid because it's never a far walk to either end of the ship. But, those elevators are usually the most crowded, so that's the trade off. We also like the views of starboard.

We prefer midship, decks 7-8 on classics and decks 8-9 on dream class. We take the stairs everywhere so prefer to be closer to the pool deck so we can grab ice cream, soda and snacks easily.

We prefer aft, for the straight shot up to the buffet and drink stations. The aft elevators are not as busy as mid, and we find the hallways are very quiet in the back.

We prefer two decks below the pool level, starboard and more aft as it seems to be closer to where we spend most of the time.

Plus the midship elevators are always so hectic.

While midship is ideal to not have too long of a walk either way, those rooms are usually more expensive so, I'm willing to walk a little further to save some money.

We prefer forward and mid-forward on Deck 10 Starboard (under the Rainforest)
However, we have also stayed midship on 6, 7 and 9 starboard and that was okay too.
We once stayed aft deck 9, Port and did not care for it at all.

We like the closest Forward rooms to MID. Next cruise because of the balcony we're doing PORT side but STARBOARD at Castaway Cay is awesome!

Starboard / first few cabins past MID (technically FORWARD).

We were midship,Deck 6 on the Magic ,port side. We loved watching the crew cast off at every port,especially at Castaway Cay where the staff gave us quite a send off! The views of Miami as we came in at dawn were amazing! Not much movement, except last night was a little rolly.

When we had younger kids we liked to be just off the Aft elevators. We found it made for quick trips to/from the Mickey Pool & Cabanas. Plus, if you get to Deck 5 from your Aft room it is a fairly quick walk forward to the kids clubs (which are between the Midship & Aft Elevators).
As a rule, I always try to get myself as close to an elevator bank as possible. It just feels like you get to your room quicker. We have never noticed any extra noise from the elevators.

We just got off the Dream and had a family verandah cabin on Deck 7 and had an awesome view of the fireworks from our balcony!!!! We were mid-ship this cruise. I actually prefer the aft of the ship as it is easier to get to all of the dining rooms and the elevators seem less crowded, but for a short cruise we were fine with mid-ship.
