Room Key & Bed question

We will be sailing (myself, DH, DS, DD, and my mother) in a cat 6 with cat 11 across the hall. Can they program our keys so that they work on both cabin doors. DS will be in the cat 11 with my mother but I may need to get in there during the day and my mother may want to use our verandah.

Also, does the cat 11 bed become 2 twins? I think it would be easier that way than using the sleep sofa.

My very first cruise I booked a category 6 and a category 11 directly across from each other, too. I inquired about the key situation as our girls were going to be across the hall. They could not program the keys for both rooms. After much discussion at Guest Services, they did agree to give me an additional KTTW card to the girls' room, but it was not easy to obtain.

As far as the bed, yes simply ask your room attendant to make the king bed into two separate twins. It most likely will be done when you go to dinner the first evening as long as you are sure to make the request earlier.

We wanted to book cat 5 with a cat 11 across the hall on deck 7 for a seven day in 2003. We have four kids. At cruise time they would be 18, 16, 13, 11. I understand that they would charge the first two people in each room the adult rate and thats fine. But they said that we must have someone over 21 in the second stateroom so they would have to book husband and 3 kids in cat 11 and me and 18 year old in cat 5. Plus we would have to prove that during the cruise that one of us over 21 was sleeping in that stateroom. We wanted the adults to be in the cat 5 with access to the kids room but not have the kids accesssing our room from the cat 11.
How old were your girls when you had them across the hall? Did you have any problems with DCL asking the sleeping arrangements?
I was shocked the DCL would not let our 18 year old be allowed as the only adult in the second room. Keeping in mind that the parents are right across the hall.

Many people officially book mom in one room and dad in the other with kids etc. BUT I have never heard of anyone having trouble changing the arrangements once on board - by getting the room key cards changed at guest services. In April we will be doing the same thing. Hubby and I in one room and 18,19,13 year olds in the adjoinging room.

I agree with you on adjoining rooms. We had the same set up with 2 cat 5 adjoining rooms and DCL didn't care who slept in what room. This time we wanted a cat 5 with a cat 11 across the hall. That's when DCL said no way even with on being 18.

Yes, you must book the rooms with at least one individual over age 21. Once you are on board, they do not check on you to see who sleeps where.

I did this without any problem at all and enjoyed the verandah and privacy while my girls were happy in their own stateroom, their own bathroom, etc.
