My son and his fiance getting married in Disney World March27,2012. Wedding Pavillion - Whitehall. Using 21 DVC nights toward 25 night block. Told this will be allowed after all reservations are in on the LOA contract. Blocked 25 nights at POR. Don't expect to use all those nights blocked at POR. Has any other DVC member had a Wishes wedding and used their DVC nights to fulfill their room block and not had an issue with their contract?:scared1:

We are using DVC nights to almost entirely fill our room block. Our planner has assured me on multiple occasions that those rooms will definitely count. We just need to give the reservation numbers to our room block person whenever they finally contact us to have them included in the count. :thumbsup2

Thank You Pixie. I was told the same thing ,but needed reassurance the story was the same for a DVC member.:goodvibes

Why did you set up a room block if you knew no one was going to book there? The 25 night minimum (and free room night) are seperate from the room block (setting aside a block of discounted rooms for your guests). The DVC nights will count towards your minimum night requirement, but if you block rooms that won't be reserved you need to release them or risk being charged for the leftover rooms in the block.

Princess Wendy, I know that 10 of the POR rooms will be used at this time . The other rooms are for guests who are tentative at this time. I am not sure what you mean when you stated that my DVC nights are separate from the discounted rooms in the room block? The consultant told me that the DVC nights will not be put towards the block until the end of the reservation period. That was my concern with this room block. I don't want to get stuck with costs. But the consultant assured me that as long as I book the 21 DVC nights I need, the 80% of room nights are covered and that the tentative guests will still have an opportunity to get the room discount.:confused3 Does this sound right?

That is correct. Any unused rooms in your block can be released a few weeks before the wedding so you don't have to pay for them.

Lurkyloo -Thank You for responding. I just sent in the room block today. I was concerned about overbooking , but felt if I only went with the 10 rooms now and later the other guests found they could attend, they wouldn't get the discount. The big point here is that I can cover the unused rooms in my block with my DVC nights at the end of the reservation period and not be charged. :goodvibes

Ok, from your original post it sounded like you knew you'd be meeting almost all of your minimum night requirement and most of your guests would be staying DVC - so I was just confused at the large room block number. I see now that you are holding them for guests you aren't sure about. I just wanted to make sure you know that the rooms will need to be release at a certain point to avoid being charged for them. Also, I don't think you need to wait until the last minute to add the DVC reservations, you just need to give them the reservation numbers and they can add those nights.

Princess Wendy - Thank You for responding. I wrote a reply to you and lost it . I ended up on your profile page and didn't even know how I got there. Anyway, I am just getting the hang of this. My son is paying for this wedding, but I am the quasi-wedding co-ordinator . This room block was a headache and I didn't want to add to the expense of the wedding by thinking I could do something and then finding out later I misunderstood. :headache:
