room assignments

ok does anyone know how they assign rooms at OKW? I know I did a limited request building 13 or 62 non smoking and top floor I get building 18 room 1811 bottom floor booked in April. they said since I requested phase I, I could be anywhere from building 22 to the check in desk checked in at 8:50am Sunday 6/30 room was not ready till 4m on the nose. one more rant since when should the employees be able to park in the parking lot right in front of the store saw an employee take up a space right in the 2nd row of the parking lot and also in the semi circle in front of our building and walk over to the cast only parking across the street thanks guys other then that we had an Awesome time!!!!

I think you get your requests much easier if you are less specific. We usually specify an are and non-smoking. Also, the rooms are not guaranteed to be ready before 4:00. I know that a lot of times they are, but it depends on how many units are full, how many housekeeping emplyees there are on a given day and how big a mess the previous tenants made.

DVC room requests are supposed to be honored in the order the reservation was made. Those made at 11 months stand a better chance to be met than those made 2 months ahead.

The most requested buildings are 11-14 and 62 -64. In your case you were even more specific with only 13 and 62- plus you added top floor. They put you in the same area (building 18 is in the area) and obviously the floor requests was not available either. Building 18 does have a good view of the green and pond behind!

They try to meet requests in the order you placed them also. If buidling 13 was your first choice and not available and 62 was also not available- then they still have to put you someplace and at least chose a nearby building. Some people even ask for a specific room and are usually disappointed.

The more general the request, the better chance it has of being met. Non-smoking, near a pool and bus stop is an easy one to get. Room 6224 can be a tough find.

The parking is always a tough issue. Many CM's also park over near buildings 23-26.

Someone recently posted that buildings 11 to 14 were under renovation, so 13 was probably closed. If the building you request is not open, they try to find something close. Like last year I requested 23 to 26, got 28. I was more general for this May, Turtle Pond Road, water view, second floor. Got Turtle Pond Road (bldg 31), water view, first floor. I sent a fax 5 days before check-in saying that if second floor was not available, first was OK but not third and not handicapped. Also asked for a quiet area. 31 was perfect! We actually liked first floor better, didn't have to climb those stairs with the luggage and after a long day. Didn't hear too much noise from upstairs.
