Hi Everyone,
Just read an interesting tidbit on Tripadvisor for those of you staying at Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort in the future. Seems someone is listening to all the complaints regarding lazy river and slide hours of operation. They are now open until 7:00pm. (they were closing at 5:00pm before)
Good news for those of us planning trips.

That changes everything! We are arriving about 2 or 3:00 and we LOVE to eat at Grills on Saturday around 4:30. It's not crowded and right about the finish of our dinner we can watch the Magic pull out and wave. I was going to skip it this time so the kids to enjoy the waterslide/lazy river.... but now I don't have to. Thanks for the info~!!!!!!

Speaking of the Ron Jon, has anyone called lately to see if the codes that were successfully being used for the 25% off are still being accepted? Will probably try today. If anyone knows of any new discounts, please post. TIA, JoAnne

Does anyone know how much the least expensive room is at Ron Jon? I'm trying to talk DH into going up there for a couple days, but I can't seem to find any rates anywhere. Do they have FL resident rates?

That would have made our lives so much easier 3 weeks ago! No worrying about lockers, luggage, etc. I'm glad they changed it.

We are going to Ron Jon during peak season 2005. Ron Jon said the coupons and codes I had are not good for 2005. We are paying 145.00 per night for a studio. Hope that gives you an idea of price. I bet the rates are lower during "value" season.

*I edited this post to correct the rate we are paying for a studio at Ron Jon in 2005. I was quoted $160.00 thru email when I requested a quote online. Then, someone here mentioned they got a lower rate over the phone. I called and was then quoted 145.00 per night for a studio, which is the price we ended up paying.*

WOW! We paid $97 for a studio in July! I think for that money I'd stick with the Radisson!

Can anyone tell me how many a studio sleeps? We are thinking of possibly staying here before our cruise but will have my elderly parents with us and then it will be the three of us me DH and DD--7yrs old.

I'm just wondering because if the room was real crowded my parents would probably want their own room or could we go to a bigger room??? If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them. Also are the bathrooms big or small? I guess number of beds is the biggest concern.

Thanks:sunny:

Is there a place to get a Ron Jon quote? Their site makes you fill out a bunch of info to submit and I have a feeling it would lead to timeshare pitches.

That's July 2004, right? Did you book with a code/coupon? My quote is during a holiday week, 2005. There are no codes/coupons for 2005 as yet. If I hear of any, I will try to re-book.

The Radisson? Nope, we don't want to stay there. Not knocking it, but we have our hearts set on staying at Ron Jon where we can watch the ships sail out to the ocean, check out the lazy river, and spend some time on the beach without driving. :teeth:

Yes that was this July with code 102, the 25% off one. The AAA code only gave 10% off.
Studios only hold 4. They are strict about it, so if you want a studio (check out the floor plan) you'll need two. I believe you would fit better in a 1 bedroom.
We liked it, but we stayed at the Radisson last year and while it was nicer and newer, it wasn't that much nicer $$$ wise.

I called Ron Jons a couple days ago and got a rate of about $115 for the studio with AAA. What is the discount code 102? Do you just tell them that over the phone?

Code 102 is from the Florida Travel magazine (I think) and was worth 25% off. I got a studio for this October using that code for $75. I don't think you can use it anymore, though.

We stayed at the Ron Jon Resort the day before our cruise 7/10! The pool, lazy river and slide were great! We had 2 ad and 2 ch. We had a studio. Our bed was nice, however our 11 yr old dd did not find the pull-out couch very comfotable at all! But, it was for only 1 night! The pool area was awesome, so I guess it is worth it! The restaurant at the resort was very good too!

Hi
Am thinking of trying Ron JOn for a couple of days in Feb 2005 when we are in Orlando. Do they require you to sit through a sales presentation on owning, which I have no interest in.
Also do the studios have a balconey or patio.
Thanks

We stayed at the Ron Jon for 2 nights before our 5/29 cruise. We booked a studio with the Florida 102 code @ $99.

We loved the hotel..We spent a very relaxing day around the pool area. It was a total hit with our 2 girls. The water works, slide, lazy river and large pool were all very well done. It truly is a water park. We also had a very nice lunch by the pool and enjoyed the the small "band" they had..
At the end of the afternoon we ventured down to the beach to take a look.. and realized it was another place we could easliy spend the afternoon. You can sit and watch the ships go in and out of the channel.
We ended up going out to Grills too late (Friday night happy hour was well under way) and it was a mob scene. Upon returning to the Ron Jon folks were eating dinner by the pool and dancing to a ragae band....It sure looked relaxing compared to the rush we were in at Grills.
We ended our day by playing a round of mini golf (empasis on mini)..
The only draw back was our room..we had a studio, which without a balcony/window felt crampt. The room was very nicely decorated and felt very new..a big plus over the Raddison. Our girls did not like the pull out sofa. With the sofa pulled out to a bed there was no room to put the extra furniture. By the way the one bed in the roon was a king. There is a small kitchenette and a very large bathroom with a jazuzzi and separate shower stall. For 4 people the room was disporpotionate with too much space given to the bathroom. Also all studios are connecting rooms. We could hear the folks next door pretty easliy.
All in all the Ron Jon was a a great start to our vacation and we would definitely do again but in a larger room with balcony. To take advantage of this hotel you really need to get there a day early.

By the way not even the mention of a sales pitch only a flyer pushed under the door...

For all of you whom have stayed at Ron Jons.can you tell me about transportation? We are Flying in Friday before our 11/20 Western sailing to Stanford.......then Flying out the Sunday AFTER we return. On our last 3 DCL sailings we stayed at WDW a few days before and flew into Orlando and always used DCL transportation.....what do we do from Ron Jon to port and Port back.........

We are staying in a 2br deluxe july 28- aug 12 and paying $202. per night tax included. I used a discount code when I booked a few months ago. Where is grills restaurant? What type of food, and approx cost?
Thanks
