ROME the series.............

I'm really sort of depressed that it's over. It was so good! Some of the best acting, the costumes, historical accuracy (for tv), we loved it!

Rome was an excellent series. It doesn't surprise me that it was cancelled. Viewers, for the most part,go for those idiotic reality shows. This sort of makes the point that schools really are dumbing down their students.

It took a couple of episodes to really cement with me at the beginning of season one, but then I was hooked. I really loved this show.

Like most posters here, I'll sorely miss Pullo. But much more than that, I'll miss Mark Antony! Now, he's my kind of bad boy! What an incredibly talented actor James Purefoy is. If it weren't for Rome, I may never have had the pleasure of seeing his work.

I wish we still got our news from a newsreader! That guy was so fun to watch.

Everything about this show was a feast for the senses - the dialog, the acting, the sets, the costumes - just luscious, all of it.

Yep...he's not bad on the eyes, either!!! I just watched Vanity Fair because of him. Although, I sorely wish I had my two hours back.....it was good to see him in something else.

He's in Vanity Fair, huh? Helloooo Netflix!

Agree 1000%

I was totally captivated by this show and the unbelievable performances. With this over and "Deadwood" ending, Sunday's won't be the same.

I'll especially miss Pullo and Mark Antony. I love the idea of "The Aventine" with Pullo!

Oh well - maybe Showtime's "The Tudors" premiering this Sunday will help me fill the void.

We loved Rome! Just think if they had continued......all those subsequent Emperors.....all that dysfunction and intrigue. I really enjoy historical drama, especially the Elizabeth I mini-series HBO and BBC did. I'm really looking forward to The Tudors on Showtime. We also love Dexter, Penn and Teller BS and The Sopranos, too.

We are (were?) Rome devotees also. We tivo'd the finale and haven't watched yet. In some ways I want to "save" it to make it last. It is such a fantastic show. ALL of the acting is incredible. I also love the Pullo/Vorenus story. They were great together. Such filial love. Both fabulous actors. I also love Antony and Atia...and what a b**ch Cleopatra was!!! Just shows you that fact (or based on fact) is truly more interesting than fiction!

I will really miss this show. I love the Sopranos but last season was a disappointment and I hope this shortened season is better. I can't wait for Big Love to come back. Anyone know when?

The Tudors hasn't started yet? They already have two episodes on On Demand and I watched them over the weekend.

So far, so good. It's pretty intriguing.

The official premiere is Sunday and they will replay it all week, but they also put episodes 1 & 2 "On Demand" before the premiere beginning March 19.
Glad you give it an initial "thumbs up."

While I do agree that many viewers do like reality shows, that's not the issue this time. Rome is probably being replaced by a show like BOARDWALK EMPIRE, PREACHER, or TOUGH TRADE. Hardcore dramas, with some genre-esk tendancies. The key difference between ROME and the series in development vying for ROME's slot next Winter is cost... the other shows simply won't cost as much as ROME.

Dh absolutely loved this show! DHe was devistated hen he larned that it was ending. Last night he had a study group for class and they discused how good the show was. One of his classmates just about cried when she heard the news. She had just bought season 1. DH had heard a rummor that it might continue. Don't know where he heard it though. I do ahev to say that it would be nice as I just got into it too.

The Antony/Atia relationship was fiction.

I enjoyed Rome but I won't really miss it like I do Deadwood.

We loved Deadwood and then we got addicted to Rome which helped ease the pain of no more Deadwood...now no more Deadwood and only a couple Sopranos.

Man, Sundays are gonna suck at our house lol. :confused3
