I just spent an hour reading all the post from day 1. Gosh, you guys have been busy. The cruise is all we can think about. The twins are saving money like crazy, having lemonaide stands, & such. They have even set up their own "travel company" & they have been trying to book all their family on cruises for $1 What a deal. It's so cute.

Is there any more plans for the dolphing swim? My husband & I did one 10 years ago in the Keys & loved it. The girls are wanting to do one. Whenever we go to Mexico we always run out of time.

I feel like there's so much cruise information in my head that it might explode. Does anyone else feel this way.

My husband & I own a Heating & Cooling Company & ever since I booked this cruise, all I want to do is read the dis & find out info. Good thing I own 50% or I might get fired.

I'll keep reading & posting. I look forward to meeting you all.

Beth

Hi everybody. Hey Beth, you are not alone with the information overload. When I first found 'DIS' I became a mad woman making notes, considering options, etc. Still, I'm glad to have time to think about it all in advance. Girl, you got some catchin' up to do. Your husband will be GLAD you did all of this money saving RESEARCH while he held the company together.;) As for the Dolphin excursion, I don't think my family will be doing it, only because we have now had a really good 'fix' at Seaworld, just last month. I would otherwise still be planning on doing the Anguilla one. I understand that there's not all that much to write home about on St. Mart anyway, so to spend the whole day on a really cool adventure wouldn't be too bad. The Shoretrips package is pricey, but looked to be very enjoyable.
I'll have to really pull my act together as the reservations date comes up. I'll already be a couple of days behind in getting reservations in, as I guess, after our agent (USAA) have made the payment, the info is mailed to them, then they forward it to us. I hope the Catamaran doesn't fill up before I have the info to call with.
Does anyone know if I could make reservations at the 60 day mark, without any paperwork in hand yet, as long as the credit card payment has gone in?
Gosh, I think I'll miss you guys next week. I've gotten so obsessed :earseek: I choose sleep deprivation rather than getting to bed at the first possible moment. (It used to be playing Hearts online with a group.)
Later troops.

Hi all,
Just checking in. I had my surgery on Tuesday but still feel pretty yucky. I hope to know the results soon.

Hi Everyone! Sorry that I haven't been more vocal, but I do try to read every day or so to keep up with the Oct 19 bunch. Here is my dilemna. We don't have a digital camera, but I think that now the prices have come down enough for it to be reasonable for us. I want to buy something before the trip, DH wants to wait and buy something duty free while on the trip. Any recommendations?? I want to spend around $300. Also, if you have a camera that you like that is user friendly, let me know.

Less than 90 days..........:p

Laurie

Hi all.

Laurie, We have a digital camera that I use for work. my only problem with it is that I love "paper" pictures. It is more of a hassle for me to get these printed than my 35mm. I have a Cannon 35mm and love it. It is pretty much just point and shoot if you want it to be, but also has all the bells and whistles, including extra lenses for "professional" shooting.
My digital is a Sony Mavica I think, and it was really reasonable. I guess so, since work purchased it for me.

What is everyone up to?
Denine, how are you feeling?
Welcome all the new friends on the thread. How many of us are with Dreams Unlimited? Did we ever get a good count?
Just back from a 5-day trip to Vegas. We stayed at the Venetian and never had to leave the hotel. Reminded me a lot of being on a cruise ship.

Just a hello. Hadn't posted in awhile. PS if you haven't checked it out yet, there is a really fun "book" thread going about what everyone will be reading. Great ideas.

Krista

Krista,
Thanks for asking. I am doing pretty well. It sounds like you had fun on your Vegas trip. We have never been there, but have friends that love it.

I just found out yesterday that I do have endometriosis. I talked with my doc. He said he took 5 biopsies and they all came back positive for endo. I guess I will find out on Monday where we go from here.

Is it October yet?

Denine - Glad you got some answers but am sure that is not what you wanted to hear. Have never had that so I don't know what your options will be. Good luck with it all! You are certainly in our thoughts and prayers!

Just booked our airfare!!! Roundtrip from Buffalo to Jacksonville on our fav airline (Southwest) was only $125 each. Orlando was $226 so that made going there $700 more! US Air was a bit cheaper ($9/ticket) but we know how dependable Southwest is (if you have a story don't tell me and burst my bubble please!;) )
I was able to use the same codes for a van rental out of Jacksonville as Orlando so got a mini van for $49.99 (before tax) each way -- not bad!

Makes it all seem a little closer.

Have told everyone to study the excursions because I was booking everything at the 60 day mark! Especially since you have the option to cancel -- would rather that than NOT getting what we want! What day can we book exactly?

Krista - we went to Vegas in 1992 and loved it although we are NOT gamblers. Would really like to go back -- some day......

Endo has been suspected for some time. I put off having the surgery for 2 years but couldn't wait anymore. I would have been more surprised if he didn't find any endo. Most of the treatment options are hormonal. It is not an easy decision. I will discuss this with him on Monday.

It sounds like everyones plans are coming together! We just have to decide where to stay the night before the 10-12 cruise. We are driving down, so we don't know yet. We aren't doing any excursions. We are just going to do whatever we feel like doing. This is going to be such a relaxing vacation.

Just saving the thread from the back of beyond!

Just a relaxing cruise for us this time, also. Only wish that it was a back to back like yours, Denine. How are things going for you? Good for you, Diana! The airfare seems very good coming out of Canada! Gotta go shopping now for shoes for my formal dress for the cruise. Talk to all of you soon. Sandy

starting diet (I HATE that word - makes it seems much worse!) today....... in a bad mood ALREADY ;)

Diana, what are your diet secrets? Anything that you would like to share with me? I HAVE to lose. HELP!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I do need help. I am drinking water before meals for the full feeling, using a small plate. What else? Can't give up my diet soda or milk.

Sandy, I hope you'll be getting size 8 1/2 shoes to go with that dress you'll be loaning me! LOL
Hi Guys!!! Thanks for rescuing the thread Denine, I was at work today and looked up endometriosis. Sounds like it can pop up in a variety of places in the abdomen. YUK You're still allowed to drink wine, right?

The rafting trip was GREAT:p The kids were happy little river rats and Ben and I have gotten hooked on "Duckies" They are kind-of a cross between kayaks and inflatable canoes. Totally fun. The guides did all the cooking AND played games with the kids while the adults hung out relaxing from a day of being guided down the river. Ha, what lazy bums we were! We had to put our own tents up and down, but not much else. I think we'll aim for another trip, summer after next, this time on the Rogue in Oregon. My kids have been so overloaded with experiences this past week. We did a biplane ride last night rather impromptu. This barnstormer at an airshow just reminded me so much of the Great Waldo Pepper where that kid hauled gas for the pilot all day then got a free ride at the end of the day. I'd always wanted to be that kid (during the ride anyway;) ) so yesterday I was! Ben and the kids enjoyed it too. They are good sports for going along with these unexpected twists that I get them into.
Hi Beth, Sue, Laurie, Strissel, Denine, Sandy, Krista and Diana! Have a good week all.

Diana, have you been following along on that "New Documentation" thread? Michelle and Dave pass on that Canadians, even children, need passports. Then a guy from the Canadian visitors board says he's still being told that just the old stuff is required.
Do your kids and their friend also have passports?
I would die if any of us were turned away at the gate.

Just to clarify - I am a terrible dieter. I don't like it and am really never very good at it! I'm just starting now because I know it will take me this long to lose the 10 pounds I'd LIKE to lose (probably will be closer to 5 to be honest!). I drink LOTS of water, cut out the diet coke (THAT'S hard), stop making sweets for the kids, and stop buying junk food for them for lunch - I always end up eating those things - no will power! Since my dad's wife is going and she is thin I have a little more incentive! I did put my bike on the indoor trainer and rode this morning and walked on the treadmill. (would rather do that outside but with the kids.......)

Thanks for the heads up on Canadian citizens but we are all US citizens. My DS's friend is a British citizen but we will have his passport, notarized letter from parents, green card to enter US, and his student authorization letter to enter Canada. I think we're covered and you're right - it would be a NIGHTMARE to not get on the boat!

That rafting trip sounded great! My kind of trip, someone else cooks and plays with the kids. Could it get any better than that? Being on the Disney cruise aside I mean. The biplane sounded great for the REST of my family !!! I'm NOT into heights and planes!

Still pouring over excursion and spa information.......

See ya'll ,
Diana

We just found a great offer for Caribbean Beach at Disney.
Right now we are staying at the Radisson Resort Parkway(cool pools, etc.)
What should we do? Have never stayed at Disney(last time at the Peabody International Drive).
We will only be at the hotel for 17-19, before the cruise. DD is 3, and most likely will want to swim.
Anyone stay at Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans(offering the same price)
Radisson - $79night
PO or Caribbean Beach - $99night
Krista

Krista, personally I would, without question, stay on-site at Caribbean Beach or PO. Are you going to the Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom on the 17th? It's so worth the money, wish we could go but can't this year. If you are, you should buy your tickets ahead of time!
