Roll Call for the Disney Magic Western Carrib. Jan 28/2006

We fly down then rent a car from Budget from the airport and drop it off at Cape Canavaral.. Budget then drops us off at the ship..

We're still not sure what we are going to do. :confused3 :confused3 We are going down early to visit with family, then driving to the port. If we drive, it is something like 20hrs on the road. :hourglass If we fly we have to rent a van for a few days and return it at the port. We spend so much at the airport too...might be cheaper to just drive. I looked into the auto train, but it is really expensive :earseek: :earseek: ...so we are still trying to figure out the money cost vs. the time cost...and see what we like better   :headache:

We have gone down early and stayed at the world and useed DCL Transportation, and we have gone down and rented a car and stayed at the port...both were ok. My preference was the car rental...it gave us more options.

We have also booked a late flight on Saturday once, and spent the day at NASA...who knew it would be 3 days past the big shuttle explosion. Was really eerie and sad. Made a really poignant page in my cruise memories, and in scrapbook. :guilty:

It's going to be here so fast!!! :Pinkbounc :jumping1: :Pinkbounc :jumping1: :Pinkbounc :disrocks: :disrocks:

For us, with 4 adults, it is cheaper to drive. I would like to try the auto train one of these days. We are planning to leave Thursday late morning and get to Cocoa Beach Friday. My sister wants to see the Magic pull in Saturday am. We never get to see her underway! Then we have to be home Sunday b4 6pm so I can pick up my dog at the kennel and watch the super bowl.

Hi! Just wanted to check in - We are a group of 18 from Ohio! We have the secret porthole rooms :goodvibes

We also have 3 Birthdays on this cruise.

Does anyone have any idea's for birthday party (ages 3-10) - can you buy a cake on board?

:hourglass

Hi vvblue :wave2: ,

We have a bday in our group too. :bday: Were you asked when you booked if you had a celebration? In the past we were asked by the room hostess, and the server what day we wanted to celebrate it. They had a cake at dinner, and sang to my son. :cake: One time we had a ton of towel animals all over the room...but the best time was the last time. When we got back to the room, our hostess had balloons, a banner, streamers, AND all the towel animals...my son was thrilled! :goodvibes We also took the left over cake back and put it in the fridge and had it as a snack the next day. :smooth:

I bring the gift with me, and we do that in the room before dinner. :love2: When he was smaller I also took one of those Happy Bday banners with us and some tape. I made him wear it like a Miss America sash. On the way to dinner, cast members and other passengers kept asking if it was his bday, and telling him happy bday. He felt a little embarrassed, but really important.

He is too old to wear the sash this cruise...but it sure was fun....I'm going to decorate the door this cruise, and on that day will put the banner there. :rotfl:

Morning All - I called Amtrak just to get a price on the auto train. We might travel on auto train after all. I live about an hour from the Lorton, Va station and the other end is about an hour from Port Canaveral. Not much driving!

Sue

Hi Sue,

Sounds like it will work out great for you guys. I checked into it again...hmmmmm...the price didn't change... :rotfl:

My DH can drive for hours  ...my kids are great car riders  ...I'M the one that hates to drive for more than 4 hrs :confused3 . I have always pushed to fly... Might have to start looking for some good ticket prices.... :wizard:

Good afternoon to you all.

We will be saying that Friday night at the Radisson Barcelo Hotel in Orlando. The son and his family are coming in a week early for DW and will meet us on the ship.

See you all there. Ron

HI All...
Our group of 13 just booked the radisson for the friday night. They had some special for 113.00. WOW. Gettong excited( like I wasn't excited already :rotfl: )
Tracey

We booked the auto-train! Round trip for 4 adults and a minivan was $1300. I figured it was worth it for us. Two rooms for two nights, food and gas brought the 'extra' cost way down. AND now I know I will be home in time to get my dog and watch the Superbowl.

Sue

Hello all, long time no write so I thought I would check in. Our entire group is ready for our Magical adventure! Just to re-introduce myself, I am Stephanie and will be traveling with DH & DS(12), along with 2 other families. All together our group consists of 6 adults and 5 boys ages 13, 12, 10, 9 & 8.

We (just my family) are flying into Jacksonville on Friday (at least I hope we are - we have tickets on Independence....please please please find a buyer!!!) where we will get a one way rental car from Hertz and spend the night in Palm Coast with parents. We will then meet up with everyone else on the ship on Saturday. We will then do the same thing on the way back home with our flight back to VA on Sunday afternoon.

I checked disneycruise.com today and does everyone know that we are now scheduled for a day in Nassua? The Western prior to ours is going to Costa Maya instead of Cossumel and we get Nassua. Boy do I hope that changes!!!!

Well I will say so long for now.

Bummer about the itinerary change, not crazy about Nassau. I will look forward to a Magical day on Magic!

Sue

Nassau...really... foofy....
Hopefully they will change it...
Heck I'd rather do Castaway Cay twice instead of Nassau...

We have had this trip booked for almost 2 years! My group was really looking forward to Cozumel/Mexico! :guilty:

Is there any chance that they will switch ports again? :confused3

I will have to call DCL first thing in the am.

If not, it looks like I will also be having a magical day on the Magic!

Do they still do Segway classes on board?

Will Pirate Night be on Tuesday or Wednesday? pirate:

Everyone cross your fingers!

I am a little late to the dance here -- but, I just saw the Nassau substitution this morning and I am p***ed!!! I just submitted a form on the Disney website. I actually tried to keep it nice. But I let them know that I am very disappointed with the substitution of Nassau. I too suggested that I would prefer 2 days at CC than going to Nassau and I think many would agree based on the excitement that I see on the DIS when there is are 2 stops at CC.

My sister's family and I booked this trip onboard the Magic. We were on a Western that time too. We loved the Magic and loved the ports which is why we booked Western again. Although I give DCL credit for not returning before they think it's ready (NCL, CCL, RCCL, and Princess are already scheduled to return), I think Nassau is a poor choice for a substitution. Personally, that's a big part of the reason that we book the 7 day instead of going on the Wonder. I think splitting a vacation between the parks and a 4 day cruise is a perfect combination, but I just don't care to go to Nassau.

At least getting on our roll call it made me feel better to see that I am not the only one that was disappointed with the switch. Maybe there is hope that DCL will change it again??? :confused3

who do I write to and where do I send it ????
I would love to get everyone we can from the cruise and start a semi petition about Nassau..not sure how good it would do.. Maybe we can request that they do a vote or something.... :confused3

I wish DCL had announced the change before final payment. We might have moved our cruise date. Oh well, trying real hard to make 'lemonade'.

Sue

We are cruising on points, so we wouldn't be able transfer at all. I was looking at the pics we took at Nassau last time...we were having a blast. DH kept getting the guy to cut us a fresh coconut...we struggle at home with these things...and this guy was zip zip zip here ya go...And seeing that big hotel as you cruise by, it was breathtaking...

Not sure if I want to do that same excursion. We have never done the dolphin thing, so I'm thinking that might be the way to go this time. Atlantis is beautiful, but not being able to use the water stuff is kind of disappointing. Anyone want to go havzies on a room for the day? :rotfl:

Thank you for your e-mail.

We truly regret the disappointments you have expressed with the itinerary of
your upcoming voyage. It is our goal to offer a cruise experience that meets the Disney standards of excellence and provides the type of magical vacation our guests have come to expect.

As you are aware, Hurricane Wilma passed directly over Cozumel. While Cozumel is involved in its recovery, we will be unable to call on this port. Nassau has always been a popular port with our guests and it fits nicely with the itinerary. Unfortunately due to the port availability, we are not able to offer the alternate ports of call you have suggested.

Knowing there will be times when we may have to change itineraries due to
conditions outside our control, we inform our guests prior to sailing through the Cruise Contract and Terms & Conditions section of our brochures and website about the possibility of itinerary changes.
However, your concerns regarding our contingency plans and the way the itinerary change was handled have been taken very seriously. Please be assured, though, that we will continue to strive to provide our
guests with the finest vacation and entertainment experiences, and we are very grateful for your valuable input to help us achieve that goal.

As Cozumel continues the recovery process, we will monitor the island's progress closely and may need to make further changes to our itineraries as we are committed to providing our guests with a wonderful cruise vacation. Please continue to check our website for updates.

We look forward to sailing with you in January and providing an excellent cruise
experience.

Sincerely,

Jennifer

This is the stock answer we recieved. I understand it ,dont like it, but understand it. However I really do feel we should get a room credit for the difference between an eastern and a western 7 day during the same time of year.
