ROFR Thread Jan to March 2026 *PLEASE SEE FIRST POST FOR INSTRUCTIONS & FORMATTING TOOL*

I’m surprised VB sells for as much as it does now. Which tells me there are people willing to buy because they are focused on the cheap buy in price, not the dues. Which leads me to believe VB will not go to zero. There will continue to be buyers who say, wow, sure the dues are higher, but I can just use that to book a BWV resort view studio in December! Ok, well maybe not that ridiculous (although I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some buyers who think you can do that).

So long as there is theoretically a time of year you can use those VB points at a WDW resort where you can get $50 or $60 of value per point, I think there will be suckers who think that theoretical possibility is not just theoretical, but quite doable.

Those of us on these boards know better and that’s why, outside of a few limited use cases, we wouldn’t consider buying VB.

I'm guessing that it will be tough to sell a contract that has 5 or fewer years remaining on it.
Everything sells for the right price.

Unless DVC resorts are generally under water---meaning, they have Dues that are higher than prevailing rental rates---there will be some residual value there. It might not be worth very much, but it will not be hard to re-home it with someone who can put it to use.

Pretty much the only way Dues exceed prevailing rental rates is through some economic or geopolitical catastrophe that significantly lowers demand for WDW vacations. And if that happens, selling your 200 DVC points might not be your largest concern.

I got spoiled last week with a 9-day turnaround time from ROFR for my BLT purchase. I'm selling a different contract and I'm on ROFR day 11 with no news. My expectations have been set too high this month 😆. I haven't seen any new posts for contracts passing ROFR this week. I know it doesn't matter as the seller since someone will be taking it whether it's the buyer or Disney but just want all the things wrapped up.

The cheap buy-in price is definitely a important consideration - I oont think they're suckers.
Hey, if VB was given away for free right now. I would take one.

Same here...day 12 waiting on an answer for a purchase. Was hoping to have heard by now!

I'm also impatiently waiting on my BLT purchase to pass with sky-high expectations on turn-around time. At minimum it will allow me to stop stalking dvcforless to identify back up plans... As with most things Disney parks related; patience is required but rarely provided (from me).

Maybe suckers was not the best word to use. You can absolutely buy VB right now and get value out of it - not as good of value as other resorts, but it's still value. So, maybe not a sucker, but someone who just hasn't run the full numbers on how much better the value is at other resorts without the same downside risk. And, if you're buying VB for those beach cottages, all I'll say is, I'm jealous.

You know it would be hard for us to say no and you would entertain it if it was free 🤣🤣🤣

Some have mentioned that they want to buy a 2042 resort so that they don't have a long term commitment to annual dues. I can understand where they're coming from, but let me make a counterpoint.

The reason this ROFR thread is here is because some people have decided to sell their DVC contracts before they've reached the end. There are lots of possible reasons, and I'm not diving into that or making any judgements.

If you only want a 15 year commitment, you could get a 2042 contract that will be worth $0 in 15 years. Or you could get a contract with a longer lifetime and sell it when you decide you're done. That will put some $ in your pocket at the end. Yes, there is some overhead in selling a contract, and they've added a new $500 fee for changing owners.

And as the years wind down on the 2042 resorts (and eventually all resorts), I'm guessing that it will be tough to sell a contract that has 5 or fewer years remaining on it. So if someone buys a 2042 today but decides that they want out in 10 years, they might be stuck with it another 5 years.

Id rather have 15 years at a place I love than 15 years of hoping I dont have to be stuck staying were I hate.

I second this. There is a lot that goes into the decision of how to approach or expand one's DVC ownership but no matter what occurs with the world (both on and off property) over 10, 20, 30 years I always feel if you bought a contract that allows for and enhances years of amazing resort stays and memories you won't sweat the decision decades from now regardless of how it ends. The right advice for most is to buy where you would never mind staying and all else is secondary.

The VB cottages are exactly why we bought 2 contracts in the last 18-24 months and we realized going into it what the dues currently are and what those dues could potentially become. While I know the dues will only get higher it is also within Disney's best interest to not get the dues so high in the last few years that the owners just simply decide to quit paying their dues entirely. That's what has happened to other timeshares that have gone completely under. As long as cash prices are slightly higher (cash prices will continue to go up yearly) than dues cost at the 2042 resorts it makes it worth it if we are using the points at Vero in the cottage during popular times (spring break and summer). Otherwise we wouldn't be able to get into the cabin at the 7 month window. Our Vero points are primarily for Vero unless we have a few points left over every few years. They are definitely not sleep around points.
