Mason vs First American ?
I know it's been discussed before but who is faster?

100 times this. Imagine if you went and bought an SSR stripped at like $120 a point recently before you knew of this board existence, then find it, and realize you didn't get a "unicorn deal" which means you probably won't post here. Alternatively the millions of points sold for folks who never even look at forums in general. We don't get to see those sales which is why the "average" reports from popular brokers are definitely accurate to the market as a whole.
How come the broker sites don’t post the highest and lowest sales along with the averages? Ever wonder about that? I’m sure all brokers want to be transparent just like what Zillow and MLS have done to the real estate market. No?

Or did I just answer my own question?

Brokers did well in the high market. But just like the Sopranos TV show… it’s over just like that. It’s time Brokers let it go and start treating buyers with a bit more respect. Afterall they do represent both buyer and seller.

There are two stages where the title company can impact the time line, the first is once you’ve cleared the ROFR hurdle how long do they take to get the closing documents out to the buyer & seller. The second is after the parties return the documents how long do they take to complete closing by filing the deed w/ the OC controller & notifying DVC.
The last several pages of the closing time thread here https://www.disboards.com/threads/closing-time.3836891/page-180#post-64745591 should give you a general idea of how long each title company takes. Not all posters know/report when the seller’s return their documents & IME slow sellers can be a major contributor to slowing closing down which the title company has no control over.

I 100% agree buyers should always be treated with respect. If that is not the case, find a new broker.

Cammy at Mason is the best! Super fast, friendly, and incredibly responsive. I had a horrible experience on my last closing with First American, super slow and very delayed email responses.

It’s not even a close contest. Mason.

This has not been my experience. I have had https://www.masontitle.com/ once. and https://www.firstam.com/ thrice.
First American delayed 1 of 3, by a few days, unnecessarily.
Mason delayed their 1 of 1 by greater than 2 weeks, and I never did get to deal directly with Cammy. I was always put in contact with her assistant.

Didn’t you say a big part of that delay was Mason being given the wrong email address for one (?) of the sellers?

I’ve had Mason on 6 contracts now, and never had even the slightest hiccup.

biochemgirl---$85-$5243-50-OKW-Sep-0/21, 0/22, 85/23, 50/24- sent 4/4, passed 4/17
This gives me hope. My Aulani was sent in on 4/4 as well. I figured they would pass on it, regardless of current conditions, because the resort is still in active sales, but here I still wait. The broker I’m working with said she still has a contract submitted on 3/16 that hasn’t cleared, and another sent last Monday that cleared Friday.

You just never can tell.

They may claim so, but I don’t think so in actuality. Brokers represent the buyers IMO. But I fully agree that they need to be respectful to the buyers. It’s just bad business if they don’t.

Our first contract, excited to become official members now!
Congrats!! I've been looking for a contract like this - which site did you go with?

It’s that weird situation where they work for the seller, but need a buyer in order to get paid. If your commission is, in essence, coming out of my pocket, then show a little respect.

Just closed on my first contract. Marcelo at Mason was wonderful. Received closing docs 2 days after passed Rofr, I signed and sent $$ the next day and 5 days later we closed.
My entire transaction, from offer acceptance to closing only took 3 weeks.
That's amazing! Congrats! 🥳

Watching these early April contracts pass and I'm just waiting to see what happens with @Jimmy Geppetto's.

Whoever it was who said they would miss the thread since they are moving on the the next stage in buying DVC, I have no interest in more points. My annual dues are enough for me. However, I still follow the thread to stay in the loop. Given the choice between social media distractions and/or connections, I choose Disboards, specifically the ROFR thread over Tik Tok or Instagram. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. :cheer2::flower1::rainbow:
