I was planning on starting a thread about just this. I too have encountered similar interactions with brokers (at a very closely related site to this). From misleading me about average resent prices, being less than honest about their gtd buy price, and then a broker not actually sending my offer and me catching him in a lie. On the last one the broker sent me a counter that was several dollars above what it was currently listed for, when I pointed that out he said 'they just lowered it and your bid and them lowering it must have crossed in the system'....problem was that seller had lowered it 8 days prior (as shown in there daily email). I mentioned that to the broker, then the phone rang with excuses, I guess they didn't want to email that.
Disappointing to say the least, when dealing with people and their money, honesty is the utmost importance. Hopefully these are just a few one-offs, as I like to think of people associated with DVC as a bit better than all the 'time-share sales stories' you hear.

Just closed on my first contract. Marcelo at Mason was wonderful. Received closing docs 2 days after passed Rofr, I signed and sent $$ the next day and 5 days later we closed.
My entire transaction, from offer acceptance to closing only took 3 weeks.
This is lightening fast...who was the broker... or do they do absolutely nothing once you agree on price with the seller?

Do you mind sharing who your broker was? That’s so fast! I feel like my broker took 2 weeks just to send it over to RoFr 😫

Update!

Auti97---$98-$5215-40-OKW-Mar-0/22, 80/23, 40/24, 40/25- sent 4/3 passed 4/17

So freaking excited! Can’t wait to plan my welcome home trip!
Just an FYI “welcome home” trip is technically the term used where you purchase directly and the you ask a CM to help book something that no longer has availability. Otherwise though you should be able to book your first trip with your resale contract soon :)

Didn’t you say a big part of that delay was Mason being given the wrong email address for one (?) of the sellers?

I’ve had Mason on 6 contracts now, and never had even the slightest hiccup.
Yes - part of the delay was due to an erroneous email. My understanding, after talking with the agent, was that it was a typo on Mason's side. The more concerning error was that they made a calculation error on the closing documents, and I had to wire additional funds at the eleventh hour. When everything was finally corrected, I asked if my date could be accelerated to make up for the lost time. Mason was non-committal in their reply, and they did not accelerate the date.
It just seems to be luck-of-the-draw, based on my limited resale purchase experience.
I don't have a bias towards either one - I'm typically driven by the best price contract I can find. Then, after seller agreement, I just try to keep the process on track as much as possible. Prepare for the Worst and hope for the Best :goodvibes
