Hi there
I am thinking about changing from the Masters Inn Maingate to the Rodeway Inn on I-drive has anyone stayed there and what was it like or if anyone could recommend another good hotel to change to.

thanks for all your help :cheer2:

Tracy

We stayed there in 2000 as part of a twin centre with New York.

It is ok, not the best hotel I've stayed in on International Drive but certainly clean, rooms a nice size, good amenities (decent breakfast buffet) etc.

Found the front desk staff a little annoying to be honest after a long flight, but I think they were just overworked, they cheered up during the course of the stay.

It is located in the tackier part of I Drive, t-shirt shops galore but still close to all the fantastic restaurants and of course very close to Universal.

As an alternative take a look at the Crowne Plaza Universal (we are there this June) or the Rosen Centre or Rosen Plaza.

If it has to be the Rodeway I think you'll be ok. Just don't expect the Ritz.

I've stayed here loads of times and I think that it's fantastic value. There are nice restaurants near by and a very funky adventure golf course accross the road for the evenings to keep you entertained. Wet 'n' Wild and Universal are close by too and there is a free shuttle bus to all the major parks. :cool1:

The rooms are clean, nice sized and comfortable and the amenities are all there (TV, Video player and choice of videos from reception, email and internet in reception, nice bar, breakfast buffet and restaurant attached to the hotel etc). For the price you pay you definately get your moneys worth. Hope you enjoy it!

We stayed here last June and loved it here.

The rooms are bigger than most rooms i have stayed in, not many provide a free fridge and microwave which we had. Also plenty of tv programmes to watch. Also a hair dryer and inroom safe all free. The hotel has a small shop which is a bit over priced but a short walk talks you to a great supermarket. The breakfast here was basic but they serve a great one across the road at sizzlers. The only thing i could say negative was the pool was a bit too small and always packed but we went to wet and wild which was a 5 minute walk.

For a budget hotel this was great.

We have stayed at the Rodeway Inn (On our honeymoon infact!!!!!!Not the most romantic of venues!!!) We found the rooms to be large and clean and found the location very convinient. You get what you pay for! I would stay there again if on a budget :flower:

I must admit that I am glad that someone has asked about this hotel, I was going to ask about it earlier but after reading some of the reports about hotels in I Drive on the net I decided ignorance was bliss. We only booked this holiday the end of Feb so no planning was put into it but hopefully if will be okay. :)

Cazzie, I wouldn't worry too much about the hotel because you probably won't be in it that much, you will be too busy enjoying yourself. :)

Just got back last month from the Rozen Plaza on I Drive and found the hotel was very good. Nice rooms with internet access large swimming pool and hot tub. Food was ok but that wasn't a problem as sizzlers was very close by

I shall be staying in this hotel from Friday.. :rotfl2: ::MinnieMo

let us know what the hotel is like as the one i originally booked has alot of bad reviews the Rodeway Inn has some good some bad.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who posted this hotel seems to have more good reviews than the Masters Inn Maingate, again i don't intend on being there much always in the parks. Is it noisy at night? as the Best Western Movieland was noisy at night and we didn't get much sleep.

Will certainly do that. :)

We stayed at the Rodeway in Feb and it's like everyone else said, its a good budget hotel, rooms very comfortable and large, cleaned everyday, complete with full size fridge, microwave and tele, but you don't spend much time there so being in the budget range it doesn't really matter.
Ponderosa, sizzler etc are just across the road and theres a trolley stop right outside.
Another place to eat, about 10mins walk is 'Sweet Tomato' which made a nice change if you like salads of every description, its buffett style for 1 price.
Also Walgreens is close by too, to stock up the fridge.
I wouldn't mind staying there again next time we go.
Hope this helps

Hi Buster thanks for info, again just somewhere to sleep will be at the parks most of the time.

Tracy

Sorry to hijack the thread but I was wondering Buster when you were there was there a curtesy bus to WDW from the hotel?

Thanks Cazzie

They only put on a bus to universal not WDW but like I said the transport on the trolley and lynx buses was so easy and then your not tied to any times.
Get your 14 day passes for the buses and then your free to go anywhere anytime, the passes are sold in most places i.e the post office or we got ours from the tourist information which was by trolley stop 27 if I remember correctly.
Don't worry you'll be fine, the bus drivers are really nice and very helpful, the only time we neede to get a taxi back was after the fireworks at Epcot
